About the Project:
Join me as we create a map rich with natural beauties, distant towns and a bustling metropolis. The aim is to create an island that feels as big as a state or territory, including vast biomes, mountains, rivers and an endless coastline. Set in Australia and New Zealand (maybe an island in between), this map takes inspiration from open world video games and the way in which the game devs create such immersive environments, such as GTA 4 and 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 and the Mafia 4 maps. To take it one step further, every thing on the map should feel unique and distinct. No city district, town or mountain should feel or look the same.

Could we possibly name the town Rockmantle? I feel it is fitting for the area, the town does remind me of the WA town of Albany or Busselton. Love the vibe of this town, I think you nailed the whole small town vibe on the head.
Done and done!
Augusta vibes also. Love to see the southwest get some love on here
Great name!
continuing on with that maybe we need a Margaret River region with some wineries
@@twodollarstwentydamn, i just spent 20 minutes reseraching a name when Another one was already chosen
a park and ride function for people coming from outside of the city is exactly what you'd have in a small town like this
I built a little fishing village in this spot on my Oceania build. I played mostly vanilla using most of the common road building mods but no custom assets (except the trees that came with the map).
In Australia, traditionally a towns distance from one to the next was measured from the post office of that town (the distance you see on the green signs). This was because the post office used to be the centre of town so I would start there.
I was wondering where the post office was at also.
I never knew where they measured from, and I had wondered. That's pretty cool.
Oh how I missed Oceania, absolute gem of an episode, love the small town vibe!
have you considered making a london underground style map of all the public transport in Oceania? would look sick
He has a small version on his Website
It's great to see more of Oceania! Welcome back. I think the town should be called Edward Bay (named after Edward John Eyre, an explorer of Australian), as there are a large number of little towns like this one in South Australia, (especially on the Eyre peninsula), that end in Bay. Another suggestion could be Port Bundaleer, as Port is also used heaps in SA for town names, and Bundaleer is an Aboriginal word for 'among the hills or trees,' which suits your town. Anyway, thanks for another great video!!
Good to see Oceania back! Hope you and the fam are doing well
An idea on how to fix your car issue, but still having the Road Leading in from the Outside Connection. Do something Similar to what you did for Sunset City with the Trainstation on the Edge of the Map. (Since Im guessing the reason people where Driving there to get on the train was because its the first opportunity)
Always a Great day when you Upload. As always a Great Video.
I just love that you reference actual places, and I can point excitedly at the screen and cry IVE BEEN THERE!
Oh my god those smaller Australian houses at 9:55 I have been waiting for someone to create for a very long time (I live in something similar). Beautiful
whats the name of those assets?
I think a good name could be Harborage. It's sort of nestled right into the bay, and it does have a harbor. Not to mention, since it's a little resort/tourist town, Harborage fits because, well, its a literal harborage from the hustle and bustle of the city!
Areas like this really remind me of seaside towns in the UK and Ireland, especially with the railways and industry. I guess with the shared colonial history it makes a lot of sense that there are similarities. I'm thinking places like Howth and Dun Laoghaire in Dublin as well as places along the south coast of England.
Love the new editing style, looks great. Have a good one 👍
Never lost your touch mayne, dope builds as always… Welcome Back 💯
The repurposed heritage industrial building in the centre of town should be a little craft brewery along with the restaurant! Would bring in tourists and locals alike, and a great opportunity for a beer brand in the town/ city with a logo, some billboards, etc.
Gidday from New Zealand. Great to see Oceania back. I think that some little coves inspired by Days Bay and the coast towards Eastbourne in Wellington would fit in well out on the Headland.
Didn't expect to see my daily commute in Wellington as a reference point haha
Hey man! Just wanted to say I’m glad you took that much needed family time and I was super exited to see you had uploaded this morning! When you mentioned the prop count I had an idea that you could incorporate a national park of some sort like the ones around Sydney and Newcastle, maybe saving you on propcount and of course taking up bunches of space.
I think I suggested a fishing town this way at the start of the series so super excited to finally see it! Great work as always, all the best to you and your family
Great work, i think that the map should have that one town, where there is very small village center, it was extremly small village until like 2000s and then the evil developer bought all land around that and built big suburbs, single home houses. Town extremly underserviced by shops, transport etc. Most of the lots for the houses can be still left empty waiting for the right one.
I see these village/towns a lot last time and i hate them so them that i actually kinda like them😅
Always happy to see you've uploaded! Love small towns like this in CS. Great vid!
I love how you play the sims and simcity ost as the background music. If I play this game, i would do the same.
I got hit by a wave of nostalgia at the beginning when the simcity 2013 music started to play
Nice that he uses Sim City 5 Music!!
Good to see you back $2.20! An idea for the old industry is that it could formerly be used for fish processing that in the old days and was shipped by train to places Like Dundee and Matilda Point where the main markets would be. The station parking could be on the site of some old train sidings that have since long gone and fell out use with the development of the town turning into a bustling holiday hub.
I haven't watched this series for to long so I don't know if you already have a brewery, but the industry buildings kind of look a little bit like the Perth Swan Brewery or some kind of brewery thingy. I love your videos they are amazing.
Hope you had a great break!
Also this town is looking really cute, though the amount of people there kind of makes sense since it's kind of touristic. Though sometimes we'd all prefer just a chill little town. Can't wait for more episodes in the future!
Australia avertises to tourists our big beaches, but Australians go to the small ones. It's very Aussie to have a small beach by a small town. They're the best beaches by a long shot and most tourists don't know about them. Very accurate, love it!
This took my breath away. Stunning
Perhaps Branford point it has a very New England aesthetic to the build. Like the ferry and the repurposed factories, Simply it is a great build.
Your attention to detail is mind blowing.
If you like that highway in NZ, have a look at Kwinana FWY in Perth. It’s pretty similar, and it might give you some good ideas!
glad you had a nice break and more glad to have you back!
I WISH THE SIMCITY 5 MUSIC WILL BE IN CITIES SKYLINES 2 😭😭😭
this video makes my heart and soul warm and full. Absolutely amazing mate! The feeling you leave with us from these videos is just something else entirely!
I like the name URALBA (home between the hills) for the town name seems fitting
Thats a lovely little town. I wish I could go there!
you are awesome!! love it :) good luck with your new family member
Lovely town! With the train line as the focal point, maybe call it something like West Bend Bay or Padstow Curve?
I would love to see the introduction of a boat harbour like Hillary's Boat Harbour in Perth. Would add a lot of character to the town will all of the boats and yachts parked up - pretty historical too.
Respect from New Zealand for adding a New World supermarket,Which is like one of our main supermarkets in New Zealand,
Absolutely beautiful. Good job.
What a comeback build - we all missed you. This little town is such a gem. Maybe the secondary industry would have been a cannery for the fish.
Love watching your videos! Especially the thought that goes into the history of the layout. Adds so much more depth and character to the gameplay. I have been wondering what mod you use to zoom in so far with all the detail. Haven’t come across that yet. Thank you for your inspiring videos!
It would be perfect for Canned Fish industry for this little town. With big hanger structure for canning the fish and many piers for off-loading freshly caught fish.
Welcome back. Hope all is well with the new addition to the TDT household.
Would still love to see a properly laid out vineyard.
I'm in for that. I built a vineyard stretching up a "jump up" (small rise / hill) from a damn/reservoir with a large 'homestead' and wine processing and tasting facilities. I'd really appreciate $2.20 doing one to learn, learn and learn. He is just brilliant at it !!
This small town design reminds me of two towns in QLD called Cardwell and Mossman, Mossman was and still is a sugar cane farming town
Usually I start organically if is close enough to a river or the ocean I follow the contour of the area, than I follow a Italian or Spanish style with a main plaza, cathedral, government palace in the center and grow around it with curved streets, as my historical part of town. Third part I start making wider avenues and just creating suburban areas around my city center. Any tall financial district usually I tend to leave it at the end and outside the main city.
Ur back! Lets gooo so excited for this episode
Glad you are back mate
Scenic train rides!!!, can't wait to see that SAR steamranger 520 asset comission used finally
Is there a chance that the small town being built in this episode can be called "Bonnie Doon"?
And also great to see another Oceania episode, hopefully you and your family are going great 👍👍
History and back story are always important to me when building a city. My current build has its own timeline. Its become a bit of an obsession.
Man it is so cool seeing my assets being used in my favourite city, I'm Turbocobra23 btw :)
also tip for my residential assets: there are always 2 versions, one with fences included and one without, the without will have "nf" in it's name
I have thought of some names. Chiltern. It’s the name of a town near mine that is in a valley. Echuca. An old port town on the the Murry River.
Or my made up name of Woolenbula.
When are u going to finish the airport? Is been ages and I’d love to see the final result!
I love the name suggestions I've seen so far but sticking with some of sillier Aussie names in Oceania, we should dedicate this town to a true Aussie legend and call it Coight Point (after Russell Coight) 😂
Lovely town !!
20:52 thats the cutest thing i've seen
I see you still honor Simcity but using its music. I am proud of you 👏
Usually, I start a town with a basic idea of where I want the central area to be relative to the highway/transit.
Nice one, really loved the new cs 2 style textures.
But isn't the sand look a bit unrealistic? Maybe if it was lighter it could fit better.
There is a really useful slope tool in the network multitool that you can check and equalize slopes with
You could add a park and ride only station at the end of the train line in the middle of nowhere and then you can reconnect the highway to your town
it'd be fun to have a little foot bridge from the station platform down to the beach!
i feel like the town could have been a whaling port, something like Albany or Victor Harbour
What a nice little town!
Gotta get that population to 100k dude, so close
11:15 why not a brewery? It could supply the drinking holes in the new (old) town. It'd also fit the pizzeria idea you had since lots of microbreweries also do decent food nowadays...
😍😍
Greetings, Mr Lines.
I also sometimes build the old highway first and then build the new one second
That looks amazing! Seriously, how are you this good? 😂
That was 23 minutes of pure dopamine.
Your back!
Well, the mountains stretch from the sky right down to the sea,
How can that be? (Like physically?)
How can that be? ~🎶
For the bendy rail, you made me think in this little urbanization (-41.091463, -71.137481) near my hometown, Bariloche, where the rail kinda forms all the rest of the roads arround. Check it out if you want!
That was amazing
And we are missing a train park, somewhere where u maintain and park trains
Talking about the history of an area. Thoughts on placing traditional native rock/cave art?
Dundee reminds me of a town near my home that is on a river.
I'd love if you would add the offramp back in, but maybe turn it into a construction side and block the traffic. Would look "more realistic" and still not let ppl flooding the town for parking
and that music from simcity
Small towns are my guilty pleasure. I have very little patience and creativity to go for large cities, as my patience is more geared toward becoming hyper fixated on detailing every neighborhood. Such a pity that these builds are NEVER profitable. I've always had to play with infinite money on, my cities being in the green is a very rare occurrence.
Also maaaate wheres the Norfolk pines?! Love the boatsheds as a wellington native, it tickled me funny.
Instead of flat deleting the town, you could maybe have applied the Old Town policy? Then anyone going in and out of the town would have to use the train or ferry.
I love this.
This is a very minor thing, but for the historical fire station could you place a little fire danger rating board outside it? I think that would complete the fire station a little bit more.
I think you should put a cri ket stadium down as it is a massive sport in australia
a quay or retaining wall for the crazy terraforming would be great instead of covering it up with trees
I love this little town ❤. I don’t love the ramp on the highway on the left side , needs some node controller pleaseee
You need to get fab soda to oceanea!!
remind me of cayucos california but with a railway
I have an idea for the name of the town!
Bogieshore
Bogie since its a part of a train and Theres a train lime trough the town
Store because, the town is on a shore.
This is incredibly nerdy, but if you were to ever try to find a national anthem for Oceania, the CIV 6 Australia industrial theme that uses Waltzing Matilda would be an amazing choice
This town should have been a small quarry, and gravel processing + shipping. Would have been rad to see a hill cut into a bit with a quarry other side of the highway. Fishing is too generic imho
Can we have the Oceania save game I just want to add to this version and change things to my liking?
Props from a Baltimore Guy
I say name the town Will!
Looks like it could be a cannery in a fishing port?
LETS GOOO
