    About the Project:
    Join me as we create a map rich with natural beauties, distant towns and a bustling metropolis. The aim is to create an island that feels as big as a state or territory, including vast biomes, mountains, rivers and an endless coastline. Set in Australia and New Zealand (maybe an island in between), this map takes inspiration from open world video games and the way in which the game devs create such immersive environments, such as GTA 4 and 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 and the Mafia 4 maps. To take it one step further, every thing on the map should feel unique and distinct. No city district, town or mountain should feel or look the same.

    I have a bit of lore suggestion here.
    That road on a cliff side was once a railroad that served coal mines somewhere in that area. But then, the new railway was constructed, so the old one was replaced with a regular road in 1950s. Coal mines were abandoned 15 years later after the road was built, because there was no more coal. The town you built, I suggest the name Black Cliff, was formed for the people who worked in those mines

    Oh how I’ve missed your nature builds! I think I like these episodes more than when building ‘cities’.. your nature work is the best out there I reckon. Also are these the first kangaroos and koalas in Oceania, in episode 59?! 😅 I’d like to see something like the 12 apostles further up from here… and you need to do the Great Barrier Reef before finishing the series please! It wouldn’t be Australia without that. 🎉

    No lie, I sat up and moved my mouse a little in panic when the screen went black. Thought my monitor had died.
    Love these sleepy little towns you build. Slowly but surely, you'll have one pared down to just a pub... and maybe a post office.

    Did you know? In Scotland, the city of Dundee has a town nearby called Perth (which also has an Australian-themed restaurant called Perth), and a little bit to the north there is a town called Montrose (the same name as a suburb near Hobart, Tasmania). The more you know. :D

    hi $2.20 the sea cliff bridge was originally built due to frequent rock falls on the original road which is why they made it a bridge going over the water, so i think it would be cool to see like big boulders where the old road was. assuming you wanted to replicate that

    I think that you should use the Matilda highway to lead to an old Oceanic penial colony called the "Waupaca Penial Colony" based of Port Arthur in Tasmania and make it big enough of a tourist attraction that their are bus route to the site. And it also brigs up the reason why the lighthouse is a nice tourist attraction because it was uses to help ships to help navigate to the colony down the coast.

  • @marchment
    @marchment Před 9 měsíci +1

    There’s a great new walking path they’ve completed in Brisbane. It’s between the Hamilton and Newstead area and it stretch along the highway and river.
    Also the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha with a planetarium would be a nice addition for Oceania. The cacti gardens are always a staple in Aussie Botanic Gardens too

    • @marchment
      @marchment Před 9 měsíci

      One thing on the brisbane walk is that there are houses on the other side of the road to the path. There is a bus stop along the way which would convince pedestrians on your path. A pedestrian crossing on the road allows them to cross, but might be a challenge in game.

    • @marchment
      @marchment Před 9 měsíci

      You’re also missing the quintessential Aussie 90’s hangover, a vineyard! It would be perfect along the highway in the hills. A modern building with a vineyard attached would be beautiful. Always a great tourist attraction. Would pass on it being industry and go straight to an attraction

    You can use the sightseeing bus route and the asset Peloton by SvenBerlin (bike group) to replace the bus. So the bike path has a group of bikers that travel along it. Control the bus route info will adjust how often and how many bikes and won’t be dependent on getting the sims to travel that bike path

    For the little town beside the lighthouse: during World War 1 the Royal Australian Navy was in dire need of a place to dock their ships in the area around Dundee, and this area was perfect. So a long road was constructed for transporting of coal to the Fleet's base. A lighthouse (and potentially a number of bunkers and similar if you want to add that). After the great war the Aussie Navy left the headland and moved to another place.
    During the great war a lot of people fled to the city of Oceania, making the inner town extremely populated. So a number of people moved from the inner city out into the headland to escape the noice and pollution that was in the Dundee City, Creating a small Town called Smith's peak.
    More for the lighthouse: A man bought it of the Australian navy in 1927 and moved into it, his name was Thomas Smith. He renovated the lighthouse and surrounding buildings. Sadly he passed away in 1952, so the city reclaimed the Lighthouse and it was planned to be demolished, but a number of locals were hell bent on not loosing the now culturally important lighthouse and a petition was held. In 1954 It was decided that the lighthouse and a big area around it should be turned into a National park, so a upgrading of the old winding road on the cliff was nesecarry, resulting in the bridge beside the cliff and the good looking asfalt roads

    It's already 2 months from the last time I went to Australia, I went with my school and the whole grade went camping and adventure for 24 days. The amazing and detailed city really makes me remember the wonderful memories with my friends make then, but I really hope that you could add some bushturkeys in the campsites. It was one of our most memorable moments when our pack of milk powder got bitten by one of them and we had to eat cereals with water that day. They also broke one of rubbish bags. It would be fascinating to see some bush turkeys staring at the food.
    I really enjoy watching at the details and efforts you gave to the game, as a student I really don't have that much time to focus in the game. Keep up the good work. : )
    I would also like to see some greenish circular prism water tank in the back of the house or toilet in some places away from the city. Drop toilet would make it much more realistic.

    Hey mate here's an idea. After the earthquakes in 2011 in Christchurch NZ a big portion of the city was red stickered and demolished as the ground was too unsafe to build on. Now a decade later it's essentially a giant park with flat grassy fields and fruit trees where people's gardens used to be. You can still see power connections or plants growing in rows where the fence used to be. It's a bit creepy but an awesome recreational spot which lots of people use for walking or cycling, or paddling down the river. You can spot it on google maps, it's to the northeast of the CBD. Maybe you can do something similar in Oceania?

    I say you should call the tiny beach town on the highway Greene, as sort of a little reference to Lorne on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria (everyone likes a nice green lawn), and also the actor Lorne Greene. Even though Lorne is much bigger, it would've started out small like this one and that whole highway gives me big Great Ocean Road vibes as a Victorian. You've even got Aireys Inlet Lighthouse (famous from Round the Twist) and the Otway National Park.

      Yes you press whatever you do to get rid of the display down the bottom then go to the thing with the choices like for the road it has straight and curved then there should be four options with walk and drive being two
      Only for console though for some reason don’t know why

    Maybe you could call the town on the old highway Maori Point? I know your city is mostly Australian but I think you've added some NZ stuff too.
