      There are some, who' would consider a person on steroids a mentally weak person, because they do not possess the mental toughness to accept their body's natural limitations and are willing to accept the health consequences (sometimes fatal) that are. caused by steroid use. Is that strength or health? Doesn't the human Body always want to return to its natural, healthyl state? I personally have no opinion on the matter, Just raising a question.

      @@NattyHub As a bodybuilder you'll never reach the very top without steroids so it not about mental toughness it's about "Do I want to be the best at this?" If the answer is yes, a bodybuilder has no choice but to take steroids. Coleman did, Yates did, Cutler did etc etc.

    He didn't say he cheated. He said he used steroids in an arena that everyone is using them in. You wouldn't even be able become an IFBB pro unless you're enhanced.

If you also have natural talet to your interest and you are lucky enough to make it your job then I'd say it's an obvious choise to do it. Many stumble through life with no purpose or passion, just living for others (boss, country, kids, spouse, etc.)

      And this people (bodybuilders) are just misleading everyone their physic are absolutely unnatural and impossible to achieve without hormones

    I really appreciate Piers Morgan for having a mature and entertaining interview with a Bodybuilder. Too often you see Bodybuilders interviewed on a mainstream platform, only to be asked juvenile questions and essentially "mocked" for how they look with little effort and time made to look at the individuals intelligence overall.

      Piers did say that if everyone's using it, it's not cheating, so in regard to Phil and the Olympia I think he acknowledged that point.

      Exactly. There isn’t a single guy competing at that level who isn’t taking steroids. It can be done safely if you have the right medical advice and plan.

      ​@@NattyHubIt is temporarily enhanced and the body never goes back to its normal state because the hormone(testosterone) that spiked so high during the enhancement period or cycle crashes lower than the normal level afterwards if they don't keep taking the PEDs. Therefore, retired guys like Phil Heath and his peers now have to take some TRT( Testosterone Replacement Therapy) for life shall they want to maintain a normal level of testosterone.

    Last week my son, who is aspiring to be a pro body builder, was working out in his gym in Edmonton and Phil Health came in. Phil was such a gentleman, he said, and shared a conversation and a picture with him. Seems to be down to earth.

      At least you’re aware that if your son aspires to reach his full potential and wants to compete there is no alternative but to take steroids. As long as its done correctly with the right medical advice it can be done safely.

      @@1972dsraihe has been doing this since he was 17. Working out for years before 17 to improve his hockey. So, ya he is aware of all his options and is medically advised. It’s not for everyone.

    I love that when asked his opinion on the body positivity movement he really kept his answer focused on health. He mentioned health markers, blood tests, diseases, etc. how it's good to be healthy essentially. There was no shaming or ridiculing. Phil is great

      TBF Phil was protecting his own life's decisions with that - he took gear on a massive level and as long as the dr said his bloods were not bad, he continued....he would be a hypocrite to shame anyones body when he has done the things he has to get his body a certain way...like someone eating loads, its two extremes

      Preach! I’ve been following bodybuilding 20 ish years, have had the pleasure of being at 6 Mr. Olympias and have met alll the big names of past and present at the expos..Heath has always been a “no thank you” for me. So much so I wrote before watching in the comments a nasty comment about him. Then I watched and had to eat crow and delete my comment. Was happy to find your comment because I haven’t been up to date on bodybuilding for at least 4-5ish years now so I assumed he was the Phil I had always known/seen.

      I got to meet Jay Cutler at my show in 2003. Such a great guy and huge inspiration to me. I still compete in the Masters. I won a Masters Championship in Bodybuilding and Classic in 2019 at 40 and 2023 at 45. Jay's era had the best bodybuilders in my opinion.

I was so star struck as a kid when I saw him all etiquette left my brain and I blatantly interrupted his conversation to ask if he was Jay Cutler. Instead of getting annoyed or curt he was super understanding and even offered to take a picture with me.

      @@mechadonia Jay is super cool. I met Flex Wheeler too. He talked to me and my buddies for 10 minutes while others waited. Super down to earth guy. It was his last guest posing before his last Olympia win. After he posed he told everyone he was going back to his table so fans could come talk with him. Nicest guy! The rudest one I witnessed was Justin Compton. He was an asshole. Really short with everyone and just wanted to sit, eat, and not be bothered to much.

    Great advice about printing the photos of yourself and then tailoring the training to what you want to add. I wish I would have started it much sooner, getting great results doing that. I also like the advice about not telling others what you are doing with meals or this/that, just do what you have to do. Nobody is really paying that much attention to you anyway. Great interview.

    I used to be a harsh critic of Phil Heath until I met him, and then I realised how easy it is to judge without really knowing. Seeing this interview simply confirms the man that he is. Meeting him and speaking to him i learnt that he is intelligent, well spoken, humble and down to earth, and he has become a great ambassador for the sport, and a voice of reason in these times. Phil, you've made a fan out of me.

      I hate to be the person that compares anyone to the generally agreed upon GOAT, BUT to be controversial. I genuinely think Phil at his peak has the more aesthetically pleasing physique. Obviously everyone credits Ronnie due to his absurd size and proportions. But dude Phil’s physique all around is like a Greek God blown up to a mass monster. Him and Cutler both, regardless of size, were so blessed genetically with proportionate physiques.

      @@shawnwhelan7746 Oh I definitely agree that Phil's physique was far more visually pleasing, but bodybuilding isn't a beauty contest lol, it's about who's better at all the mandatory poses, and while I agree with you, that Phil at his peak was absolute spectacle, Ronnie would beat him in more mandatory poses.

      Not even top 10, the 70s guys definitely produced the GOAT. You had Arnold, Mentzer, Zane. Among others. They were aesthetically pleasant, Phil Heath was part of the "All the Mr Olympia lose their hair due to steroids and everyone looks the same" era

    Phil was quite reserved here, looked a little nervous. I have followed him for his entire career and he is a champion through and through. Enormous self discipline and god given genetics. Its good to see him, and the sport, get some recognition.

      I’d be nervous too. Being successful in a lot of this stuff is marketing. You speak common sense on a lot of the issues like he did he could lose his ability to pay for his home, training etc all because some sponsors don’t want any “controversial opinions”. Anything that resembles thought processes of the 1990s/2000s is out completely “out of date today”.

      i disagree when they go to the gym they are always working out with others even have spotters and people around for advice aswell as dr's for tests..mights aswell be a team. you could say same about sports like boxing snooker golf darts etc

    I prefer Phil Heath in retirement than when he was competing. Because he has so much more time to pass on his knowledge and experiences in life that I find very inspirational. When he was competing there was no time to show the world who he really was because he was at war with his competitors. So now we get to see the real man and he’s a very good person. Positive, insightful and truly motivational.
