    It's always nice to see a variant of a Firebird that isn't a Trans Am, and it's great when a restored model comes out this nice.

    That’s a kit I wish I could get in my collection.👍
    The Trans-Am looks a little busy at times, but the Formulas have this muscle car vibes to them. I prefer them. Nice build from a real connaisseur.

    Very cool! Always interested in the lack of production of alot of things back in 1972! Even HotWheels only released 7 new castings that year. '72, my Birth year- trying to collect '72 model year products has proven to be difficult. Thanks for sharing

    Nice Job 👍.. Listening To Your Take On Research Of Projects..
    As For PMD & Firebirds Options..
    One That Is Skipped And Truly Rare Was The 455 SD.. Essentially A Trans Am w/o The Side Fender Vents & Optional Tail Spoiler..But Had The T/A Hood Scoop.. PMD Gave The Public Great Options As With There GM Siblings... Some Years Ago I'd Ran Into One Rare Birds.. Believe Maybe A '73.. But, Never The Less A Beautiful Car.. Bare Bones Performer.. 455 sd & 4 speed & LsD/posi.. Even Sitting Still, You Could See It Means Business.. Much Like Chevrolet..
    PMD Must Of Had Their Variant of COPO.. T/A's Are Cool.. But All That In Plain Jane With Minor Tone Of What Maybe Lurking Is Far Cooler 😎...

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před měsícem +1

      Thanks. You are talking about the Formula SD-455 for 73 and 74. The SD-455 was only available in the Trans-Am and had some production issues for 73. Engines were backordered and some orders got cancelled but somehow enough people begged for the engine in the Formula that Pontiac changed their minds and allowed it in the Formula later in the year. Only 43 Formula SD455 were made! Only 252 SD Trans AMs were made in 73. Now it was available also in 74 and only 58 Formula SD 455 were made but 943 74 Trans AMs got the SD455. I actually skipped it on purpose and may actually build one from a resin body 73 from MCW resin. I did build one of those as a 73 SD455 Trans Am but I added pro touring big honeycomb wheels. I have the stock wheels and could make it stock if I wanted to. Also I was sticking with the 72 model year as that engine was not available yet.

    Well done finish on the model. The rear spoiler looks odd on the car, but I could get used to it.
    The 1:1's enduro front-end usage was when I actually lost a lot of interest in the Pontiac brand. I preferred the earlier Firebirds with chrome front bumper, and the enduro drove me over to Buick's midsize Skylark that I drove in the 70's. It had steel chrome bumpers front and rear. I make an exception to chrome with the Bandit's Trans Am, but not the other Pontiacs.
    I hope you have purchased the new '68 Pontiac 400 kit by Revell, so I can see how you'd do it. I just bought 2 of them, one will be the lighter blue metallic, the 2nd color I haven't decided yet.

      Thanks! I would really like a 69 Buick GS 400!

      @@TheMuscleCarModeler agree, the GS Buick would be a great add.
      I ran across and bought a yellow 1:24 Testors diecast Buick GSX in an estate liquidation a few years ago, and I would still build those Buicks!

    beautiful work especially for a restoration:....👌👏👍
    Forgive me because i am not a car model expert , and not specifically Ralph, but its the same with all the you tubes car modellers i visit, regardless of their incredible talent......Why doesn't anybody bother to eliminate that seam between the two trany halves before finishing work on the engine???

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před měsícem

      Thanks 👍. It’s a trade off. Shave it down some but the paint will highlight it a bit. To really blend it in you will loose the texture as well.

    Very cool. Comes with a straight 6

      And YES,nice job on your 72! Stunning and that (gun metal?) GRAY looks so awesome. I have a friend who has a 1:1 scale, I believe is a 72 Firebird in red. Maybe a 73. We once talked about getting a model of his car and found it difficult to find year.
      As always this is an amazing hobby!

      Thank you. That particular kit I have kept away from because of the t-tops. Other than that it is similar to the 69 Trans Am hardtop kit and also the Sundancer kit (69 Trans Am/ Firebird 400 convertible). Those kits have some fitment issues and that 6 is the rare Pontiac OHC 6 cylinder (Sprint 6). Wish the kits had the plain flat Firebird hood!

  • @chassegallerie2910

    You know if somebody in the aftermarket did that hood for Monogram's T/A? I have a custom to build eventually and I would like to get that kind of hood for it.

    I never had that kit cause it was to expensive at model shows
    I found one for 100 bucks at a table and it was a thick spray painted glue bomb
    Even the windows were painted
    Would the amt 70 bm camaro chassis fit under there ?
    Also what is your opinion on the revell mono trans am
    When it first came out i dont remember if it was scale auto or car modeler mag revenued it in their new kits section and said it was so bad they called it spam am.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před měsícem

      The BM Camaro chassis may fit but I have not tried it.
      Same for the Revell 70 Trans Am. Kit looks nice and simple. I do have one but have not built it myself.

      @@TheMuscleCarModeler I just thought the camaro chassis would have more detailing than the mpc

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před měsícem

      It does but I would also remove the molded in inner fenders and adapt them to the firebird body while swapping out the chassis. I would also prefer the 400 engine from the Revell 68 Firebird and it has recently been rereleased! I like kit bash projects like that but not on every build. I have way too many that I want to build and don't want to buy 3 model kits to build one model. That is why I will do it on occasion but then build another one right out of the box.
