The Pontiac Firebird is an American automobile that was built and produced by Pontiac from the 1967 to 2002 model years.[1] Designed as a pony car to compete with the Ford Mustang, it was introduced on February 23, 1967, five months after GM's Chevrolet division's platform-sharing Camaro.[2] This also coincided with the release of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, Ford's upscale, platform-sharing version of the Mustang.[3][4]
The name "Firebird" was also previously used by GM for the General Motors Firebird in the 1950s and early 1960s concept cars.
The body was completely restyled for 1979, featuring a new aerodynamic front end, revised rear end spoiler, bulkier flares for the Trans Am, and a revised connected single taillight assembly design that would remain consistent for the rest of the Firebirds design. The grilles had been repositioned to the lower section of the front bumper to allow more cold air to travel directly to the lower part of the radiator and engine bay. The interior remained mostly unchanged from the previous model year, however, the deluxe cloth interior had now changed from velour to a Hobnail pattern. The hood decal from the Y88 SE and Solar Gold cars from 1978 became the standard design across the entire Trans Am line and now came in a variety of colors. The Formula steering wheel that was optional in the lower models and standard in the Trans Am now came color coded to the interior.
Optional engines for the Trans Am and Formula included a turbocharged 301 or the Chevrolet 305 small block. The Chevrolet LG4 305 was mandatory in Californian and High Altitude emission states. There were three different iterations of the 301 in 1980, the L37 301 4bbl, the W72 E/C 301 T/A 4.9, and the LU8 301 Turbo. The W72 E/C 301 was standard for the Trans Am and optional for the Formula, however, the W72 E/C could be deleted and instead, come equipped with the standard L37 301. The turbocharged 301 used a Garrett TB305 turbo attached to a single Rochester Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor and featured a hood-mounted "boost" gauge that would light up as the TB305 accumulated boost. The hood of the 301T equipped Firebirds had a large offset bulge to accommodate for the mounting position of the carburetor on the engine as the turbocharger exhaust occupied a large amount of space in the engine bay. The 301 T-equipped cars were restricted to an automatic transmission, a 3.08 rear differential ratio, and were required to have A/C. A memo from Pontiac to dealers in late 1980 mandated that all 301T cars must be ordered with J65 rear disc brakes or the orders would be rejected. However, the WS6 Special Handling Package was never mandatory with the 301 Turbo. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
You sure bring a simple snap kit to life Chris! Excellent detail!! You couldn't have said it better about having a hobby that you enjoy that takes you away from the BS of the world! Building models is one of my top hobbies! It really brings the vehicular enthusiast in me out and it shows in my builds! I get so involved in the hobby that it soothes my mind and puts me in a relaxed state!
Esattamente, è la stessa cosa per me 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m just so impressed with your output. It usually takes me months to work up to starting a project
1 day, 1 month, 1 year, as long as you are having fun, enjoy your hobby in your way.
It's not the complexity of the kit - it's the energy invested by the builder that produces an "end product" that satisfies.
Mighty satisfying kit to look at today - THAT'S for sure.
Thanks for sharing...
Thanks!
Those LOUVRES just capture that period of time!! I had a little Corrolla SR5 with them. Totally radical, DUDE!!
I'm surprised with how everything comes back in style that louvers haven't shown up again yet.
Just ordered one for my 6 year old to get started. Thanks for the unboxings, it has cost me alot of money, but worth it!
Love that thing's "digital" decals! So '80s! It's pretty expensive (at least in Canada) for what you get, though. Hoping to get this one on the second hand market.
Just so you know, the parcel shelf on those T/As is the same colour as the interior. My red interior has a red shelf. Not that it matters with those louvers, mind you!
Thanks for a fun review!
Love the funk music i found myself getting up n dancing to it i couldnt help myself!
Very Cool! 😎👍
Captures that time period to a T! My TrapperKeeper™ was Burgundy, faux leather! Two stickers on the front : UpYours with UpRiser200 & StarWars (cockpit of the millennium falcon)
These videos have helped me tremendously.I just completed my first model it took a really long time but looked pretty dang good
I stopped building several years ago. I ran across this channel in 2019 and I’m back into the hobby more than ever.
Thanks!
Keep having fun!
Looks great Chris, if I'm able to pick one of those up I think I paid for the car White with a blue interior to set off the blue decal 👍👍
Outstanding Chris you brought it to life
For a snap kit, that looks outstanding.
Thanks!
Nice build Chris, you are great with a brush! Sweet kit! 😎👍
Nice Firebird snap kit Chris, looks like a good slump buster👍
I've been building models sence 1966 started building cars ww11 b-17 bombers to fighter planes and I guess I've graduated now I'm building 3 feet long full blown sailing ships an I still like your builds you would build them the way you want an that's how I still build mine an from me to you your out standing
I remember building this one back in the day! Very cool! Another great build!
Thanks for another video. I need to consider the snap kits as a rut buster in the future.
I never knew that FLOOR POLISH WOULD Stick on well with Plastic Models..
Good tip..
Awesome job again Chris.
Спасибо, очень приятно смотреть такие ролики
Well you're done it again Chris! I'm going to have to get one of these to set next to my snap Camino ! Great presentation & build!!
Excellent work. Your detailing of the model really makes you forget it is a snap together kit. I really like how it turned out. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much!
Great video Chris keep em coming I'll keep watching
Thanks!
Great build as usual, I've got the AMT Snap-Fit 1980 or 1981 Cheverra Z28 Camaro, I bought and put it together back in the mid 2010s 😊❤👍
Nice looking kit for snap together!
What a fun kit - thanks for showing it.
Thanks!
Great build Chris I think I'm going to get this kit
Awesome Awesomeness. It they forgot the side sport mirrors but it’s cute as any model you’ve done. My USAF anniversary is 79.
I will definitely start picking up some of the snap together your model turned out great 😃👍
Thanks 👍
Beautiful dreamcar❤
This kit looks like something from the TV show on MTV pimp my ride
Great job Chris! May have to pick one up for the slump buster pile in my stash
Thx for always keeping it fun Chris. It really is a fun time with each of your videos!
This is a nice reissue and the body does look really clean. I noticed the sprue for the seats mentioned a couple other colors on it, so I guess in the 80s when this model first came out there were many different versions of it with different decals, color schemes etc? Would be nice to put this next to the "Smokey and the Bandit" Firebird in my collection.
Outstanding video and presentation.
Thank you!
Nicely done! 👍👍👍
Great build man! You are absolutely right! Model building is all about having fun, being creative, and doing it your way! Great way to escape everyday life and cruise back in time to awesome nostalgia!
Something different looks great
Looks great!!! I'm going to need to get a couple one each way ! Have a great weekend !!!
Cool kit! 👍👍
Very nice mate👍
Thanks for the visit!
Looks awesome!
Very cool, you mad that look boss!
What do you do with all of these models you build because I would love to see your display and I probably not the only one that would like to see your display I enjoy your builds
Nice.
Great work on this cool snap-together kit! Question on the floor polish: do you have to do anything to the polish after you’ve applied it?
Great review. where is the back of the front seats? lol....
Excellent build. Very retro. By the way, I know it hasn’t been a full year yet, but how it’s that Future Floor Polish replacement (Quick Shine) holding up on the Ford truck?? Really curious. 👍
Zero issues.
Same as I haven't had Future yellow on me in all these years either.
@@hpiguy Excellent!!👍

Today is July 15, 2024. Between last night and today I watched three videos on Firebird builds for the first time each. You made those models look really good. I do have just one tiny complaint. I cringed every time you called those bird decals the "Screaming Chicken". You do know that it's a Phoenix right; not a chicken? Since the car is a Firebird, it stands to reason that Pontiac would use a "Fire" Bird namely the Phoenix for its mascot. Otherwise, they were clever builds and the models looked great.
Thanks for watching!
Screaming Chicken is a nickname for the emblem and is extremely commonly used across car culture.

an I'm the one that said I didn't see the last episode of doms charger
Sorry, but this one is a very bad kit..
Just to have a Trans Am from this period?
No,not my way…
actually, NOT a bad kit, just over simplified, like it was intended for kids. also, the model kit industry was going through
some really hard times, sort of like they are now. would you rather have had MPC not put out any kits and just closed its doors
permanently?! because that was the choice at the time! the more I think about this, the more upset I get about your attitude!
@@alwenke212yes,i agree in parts of your opinion.
But if i had the choice(and i have the choice as a customer)to buy a reduced to the minimum kit or i let it…
I‘ll take the second.
@@p.scha7476 just because a kit is a curbside model doesn't make it a bad kit, the same way a full detail
model doesn't guarantee that the kit was well engineered or accurate or that shortcuts weren't taken..
don't automatically disregard a simple kit because its a curbside, especially if you are a fan of the subject.
the idea of deciding whether or not to buy a kit based solely on the parts count doesn't make sense!
if you need a difficult, complex, challenging project, buy a simple kit, open the hood and build a detailed engine compartment, engine and suspension. otherwise build a simple kit, well, it can be fun and relaxing.
You should buy whatever kits get you excited and that you'll enjoy. Every kit doesn't have to be your cup of tea and that's totally OK.
Keep having fun and buying/building the models you want to build.
Thanks for stopping by!
@@alwenke212 oh yes,you got it right!
Full detailed kit are my faves.
And yes ,i build curbside kits, too.
But this kit reminds me more than a toy.
And again, you‘re right, the kids today have more interesting in videogames.
So the manufacturerers ain‘t easy to grab customers..
Let‘s come together,this kit is simple,not bad!
