Nah. There's actually good fanfic out there that go into breaking fictional characters down to their bare bones. In the author's perspective, of course. Fanfic isn't all sexual and written by teens. You get mystery and adventure ones, too.
It's really diverse, and even fully fledged writers partake; it's a fun exercise. However, I don't know about real people fanfics. They kinda seem too cringy to try. That, and I can't imagine how they'd feel about it.🙈

@Alias Anybody Sadly, you're right. But it's only because, generally, people would rather focus on the bad parts of an entity than the good. It's more entertaining to watch someone pick apart a god awful piece of teenage... uh... literature?😂 I love Amanda, but I kinda wish one day maybe she'd enlighten her viewers on the good parts of fan creations instead of the bad. I feel really bad for writers who put their heart and soul into something they loved and have it mocked because of a stereotype. There's countless stories of relationships dealing with abuse -- parental abuse and neglect -- and characters finding themselves after the whole process, and honestly, when i was a teenager, it made me feel less alone. People only write to propagate a message or escape their reality. I would rather focus on why girls this young are romantising such abusive relationships, instead of mocking them. Speaks volumes of how their actual lives must be. 😕
Never mind that, I only wish one day, people would focus on some good aspects of how broad the fanfiction world is. Of really, any piece of media. Just like there's good and bad to be found in every corner of the internet.

What we have here is a fanfiction so far removed from it’s initial story that all you need is a name swap and no one is the wiser. I will admit I’m also just not a fan of any Modern AU fanfics anyways so this take is a little biased.

Wow!!! I may be a bit of a Literature nerd here, but that is the most atrocious evaluation of Mr. Darcy, Eliza, and the entire book I have ever seen! Who wrote that!? First of all, Eliza DID tell Mr. Darcy to essentially fuck off. Eliza only tolerated him for the sake of her sister Jane, because Jane was falling in love with Mr. Bingley, Darcy's best friend.
So much for being a literature nerd, and, if they are going to comment on classics of Jane Austen, at least do her justice!
Additionally, the ENTIRE point of that book was to demonstrate how first appearances and pride can become all consuming. For instance, Mr. Wickham is described as charming and handsome, but is actually a gambling arse. And Mr. Darcy (who is described as cold, arrogant, and ill tempted by all of Meryton) was actually an extreme introvert who attempted to fix his more hardened nature as soon as Eliza points it out. The reason Darcy was portrayed so horribly is because the narrative revolves around Eliza heavily, so the reader perceives Darcy is a pretty similar light as Eliza. HOWEVER with the climatic part of the novel, the book does a 180 and essentially shows how Eliza horribly evaluated Darcy the ENTIRE time.
Harden, Harden, Harden, you are an idiot and as shallow as the kid who sparknotes and thinks they read the book.

    • @ZenKrio
      @ZenKrio Před 10 měsíci

@drithishetty8049 the mini series is leagues better than the movie. You also just get like 3x the content due to the format the story is presented this way. I'd also argue that the actors were better, not that Kira Knightly is a bad actress, but compare her to Colin Firth who played Darcy in the mimi series and its a whole different thing.
I watched the show shortly after making this post 2 years ago lol, and yah, the classic still holds up, you should really look into it. And yah, it was really the same thing as the movie but told better, he found Jane alright, but not good enough for his best friend, and he had distaste for basically the whole Bennett family save for Elizabeth due to their immaturity (especially their mother iirc). Iirc correctly as well, he saw that Jane made his best friend happy, and decided on his own to encourage him to go back to Jane after this, though Elizabeth turning him down HARD did have a hand in that, it likely wouldn't have made a man like Darcy change as a person. Though it was also a thing that one of the best friends (you can tell I forget his name lol) sisters wanted him to marry Darcys sister. So that likely played a slight role, though Darcy himself seemed really indifferent to that idea from what I could tell lol.
It also doesn't help that in the movie, you could never buy that Kira Knightly as Elizabeth was less attractive than Jane. In the series and the story, it's strongly shown that Jane is the best of all the girls in looks and is second only to Elzabeth in intellect, who is implied to be as smart as she is because she's not quite as attractive as Jane. I forger if the other 3 girls were ever portrayed as more attractive, I just remember than being thirsty lol, and that very thing coming off as immature to Darcy and even their Mother.

Darcy is a good man, he makes mistakes, but he learns from it and overcomes his pride. He NEVER manipulated Lizzy or forced her into doing something she didn't wanted to do. Actually, he helps her A LOT.
Elizabeth is smart and she's a decent woman. But she has her prejudices towards Darcy. She doesn't want to marry for convenience, she wants to marry for love, a healthy and beautiful love.
Pride and Prejudice is a story about love, human behaviour and personal growth. Both Elizabeth and Darcy are not perfect, but they overcome their prejudices and pride and they showed how decent and good persons they are. You can tell that the person who wrote "After" wasn't college-age and they probably didn't know anyone who went to college. Because no one in college cares about whose a virgin or not. We care about passing and will curse people out who like as dumbasses and waste your time and money.
Edit: Looked up information and saw Anna Todd was 24 when she wrote this. College pairs freshmen with freshman roommates. Also, maybe I'm just being judgy but considering that she's been married since age 18, (thanks Wiki), I'm gonna say that her lack of experience reminds me of E.L James with the whole fantasy but not actually doing the research. Will that last comment come back to bite me since I'm writing some stories? YUP!
2nd edit: When I say people who act like dumbasses, I'm meaning the idiots who interrupt your class by being loud, rude and cursing out the professor and they don't want to be there. I'm not talking about people who are freshmen and finding themselves, I don't fucking care what you do. As long as you don't harm another person. In this case, the dude did the old "make a bet" and "virgin bet" tropes and I hated it.

That's definitely not something that can be generalized. Maybe in your college everyone was level-headed, and that's great, but the majority of college kids I know only cared about passing during finals month. The majority of the semester, partying, romance and expanding your horizon with all sorts of new experiences was the focus.
Which...honestly, I see no problem with? It's your first time away from home, where you get to make your own life decisions, where you get to try "adult" stuff like drinking and whatnot. Get it out of your system, get to know yourself and your preferences and limits. That's also part of growing up, and it's in a place that is still a kind of protected environment compared to being a full-time working adult where any mistake can ruin your entire existence.

Every day was just like in those books, you have super intense "highs" but also the worst lows ever. It took me 9 months to understand I was mistaking my anxiety and fears of meeting him on a bad day were not normal and that I shouldn't be with this person that could turn every positive thing in my life into his own personal disaster. This is completely unrelated but can someone please explain this concept to the parts of the Miraculous fandom that think Marinette and Adrien should get together right now? Mari is literally at stalker levels of obsessive and Adrien has some issues regarding his father. They need to fix themselves before they can be together. A relationship is not something someone should use to step on the other person to get themselves to a better place (and it would be even worse if the person getting stepped on allows and is okay with it).

How creepy is that coming from someone who keeps flirting with you despite your discomfort? And then Chat Blanc dares to depict a relationship between the two built on the fact Adrien found out she was Ladybug, and specifically for that, became an absolute power duo of a relationship with no problems? The tragedy of this book is that the author can't write to save her soul, yet countless starving writers on Wattpad continue to hold out hope they'll be the next Anna Todd. I've tried reading this on Wattpad and lose a little of my IQ each time I do. Don't do it. Toxic relationships are not okay. And the fact that the author glorifies it and parlayed it into a lucrative writing career makes me sick.

I still remember the first ever fanfiction I read was a harry styles lemon. I still cringe to this day 😓
