Before you complain this isn’t a “real” Bronco, remember that not everyone wants the big full-size Bronco with removable everything and a much higher price tag. Think of this as a far more capable, better-looking alternative to boring bland crossovers and you’ll have a better perspective on it.
Well, yeah isn't that the reason why it is a "Baby" Bronco?
edit: this was a mistake
now I get a notification every time someone replies to Doug's comment
So true! But nothing’s more fun than the pride, community and experience of driving a jeep in or off-road.
Why are you uploading this on a Monday instead of a Tuesday?
Hey
I don’t know how people think AWD CVT Subaru’s are adventurous when there are many fun vehicles like these that have 4x4 low range. Gears and way more power than a Subaru
My 1998 wrangler has more power than 85% of all Subaru SUVs sold

Ford actually gave Doug an engine this time, he's moving up in the world.
As someone who isn’t too crazy about newer vehicles, Ford did a good job with the 2021 Bronco lineup. Hopefully this convinces automakers to start making cars people actually want again.
Jesus loves you alot trust in His death 4 salvation and be saved from eternal hell
Dodge has recreated all their cars so I guess car designers have run out of ideas. I bought a Bronco but had a Taurus SHO, superb vehicle. But the world wants these ugly ass SUVs so here we are!

They’re gonna sell so many Broncos and Bronco Sports. Chevy missed an opportunity with the Blazer. Would’ve loved to seen that rivalry.
dead right. another ford that's absolutely going to fly out of dealerships
Yeah, the Blazer is now basically a blown up hatchback with plastic cladding (which is true of most small SUVs)...
This is sort of a misconception, as the blazer is the fastest moving car in the industry. I completely agree as far as I wish it would’ve been more of a off-roader than a mundane crossover, but either way it’s still selling

I like this way more than I should. I’m far more into the Sport than the upcoming full Bronco. I absolutely love the looks for something in this class. It’s like a smaller more affordable Land Rover Defender, and I think that’s on purpose. And I absolutely love those 17” wheels!

doug’s version of the bronco: *”has steel wheels like from a Crown Vic”*
I skipped thru him going over the wheels cuz I already knew the options. Did he actually say they were steel? I ask because they are aluminum and not steel, despite looking like a "steelie".
I'm starting to think the car industry is adding more easter eggs just to see if Doug can find them all
Waiting for someone to hide the words QUIRKS AND FEATURES in in interior compartment molded-in texture.
Regular car: is covered on this cheap ugly plastic
Off-roader: it has this very durable rubbery material engineered for durability
Cheap plastic is hard and loud, high quality plastic is much softer and quieter when you hit it

@@Andrew20pp For example in cars that I have used, I had a limited edition ford excursion, a mid range 2004 f150, a 2000 dodge ram 1500 base model, and a 2012 Nissan Altima base model. The Nissan and dodge, both being base models, used very hard plastic that scratched easily and rattled with my music. The f150 and excursion were both higher trim levels and used softer plastic that didn't rattle and felt way nicer to the touch.
Thank goodness durable materials have durability.
@@Andrew20pp The new Defender's interior is all rubber and plastic but its well put together. The mechanical and electronic bits are a different story tho. Acura and Lexus is also good with plastics and tactile feel.
This is what the escape shouldve evolved to. Not the abomination the escape is now
Sure, my heart goes to the full sized bronco. But I love this too.
They tried to make the new gen Escape less boxy so that they can make a boxy crossover and give it a cool name
You wouldn't buy this if it was called a Ford Escape, right
Honestly I believe this is what the explorer should have been. Only a little bit bigger. Instead it became a bland corporate vehicle.
Isn't the Ford Escape a 2014Focus with CUV cosmetics now.

Spot on review Doug. You explained this Bronco sport better than other reviewers who glance over things. Most of them are just car salesmen...you are an enthusist and it shows. I agree that the badlands wheel look more .....bad ass!
I think it's funny how tough a grader Doug is. If he likes something, it'll get a 3 out of 10. If he loves something and really compliments it, maybe a 6 out of 10. Makes me wonder what deserves a 10 out of 10.
Doug: I am thoroughly impressed by the handling, the looks, the cool factor is of the charts, the driving comfort, in short, it doesn’t get much better than this in the segment, and for that it gets a 39 out of 100 ...
I love how they made the fancy alloy off-road wheels look like steelies with a gunmetal finish.
I noticed that too. Very cool
We’ve come full circle. We just spent 20 years trying to make plastic wheel covers on steel wheels look like alloys, and now someone intentionally designed alloys to look like steelies. Love these btw.

I dont get all the weird criticism for these. Almost every negative comment I've read seems to come from someone who simply isn't part of the intended market for these. The Sport is not the vehicle to compete with the wrangler, thats for the full-size Bronco . When put up against the CR-V, Rav4, Traverse etc....I think it looks like a decent package. Im a wrangler guy, the full-size bronco intrigues me this isn't my kind of vehicle but for a small family that isn't really into cars or 4x4s but goes camping a couple times a year or into outdoors recreationaly and wants something kinda cool and a bit more rugged I think it looks like a great package.

I like this design so much. A reasonably sized SUV which still looks like an SUV and has its own face.
At 1:32 the standard engine is a 1.5 litre 3 cylinder turbo charged motor. That engine won't last long under normal driving stress
The bronco sport almost resembles the original Ford Escape more than the new Ford Escape.
yup ugly
Yeah it’s kind of crazy looking back at the 1st gen Rav-4, CR-V and Escape and seeing just how “off road-y” they were. Back then they were meant as more capable lifestyle vehicles. Now most crossovers are just bloated hatchbacks. It’s a shame.
Because its literally a Ford Escape platform with different cosmetic looks.
Eh that’s a stretch. Box abrupt edges yes but the design is far more rugged.
@@lrburns4 it is the same exact platform as an escape, engine, transmission, suspension, almost everything except looks, he says it in the video even, it’s a unibody too.

adam sandbur absolutely, it’s a very fisher price. It would’ve been cool when I was 10 years old but not now when I’m 50 and I can actually afford the damn thing
I agree with you. But i also believe that it's just a video playback while the actual infotainment is booting up instead of a blank screen/logo
Just throw it in reverse right away. Works in my Jeep to get rid of the boot-up screen.
This is what the successor to the 2011 Escape should’ve been.
Completely agree. I had Ford escapes for company vehicles and was disappointed when they changed it to look like all the other ones. I liked my boxy escape with that you could open the back glass independant from the whole hatch.
Probably why they brought this into the line up, to replace the old escape that had a huge following for off road capability
You know full well the most off-roading the buyers of the Bronco Sport will do is a gravel road to a campsite
No way! Maybe a slightly bumpy road to he mall. :)
Have you seen Bronco Nation’s video of a Bronco Sport in Moab?
Or snow im very suprised about sand being a mode over snow

i was waiting for the med kit in the tailgate
Man, I swear you were way off with your comment then I checked the X-Terra and, wow, totally so.
I remember when it was called the Bronco II. In 1984.
Yeah, Nissan could have released this with an Xterra badge and nobody would have batted an eye. The Xterra was a decent enough size though.
The Xterra was a body on frame SUV though, this is ultimately a Ford Escape underneath. Granted with some modifications and it does look nicer than any other unibody SUV I could think of right away.
So I actually had a 22 Badlands and a full-size bronco. And yes the full size bronco is amazing. Off-road and the manual transmission was so fun, but the top is super noisy. The weather stripping was done terribly. They were in such a rush to build my bronco. The undercoating dried still dripping and I've seen that on multiple broncos. I actually sold my full-size bronco and am driving a bronco sport heritage limited now which is basically a special edition Badlands and besides ground clearance i have yet to find a place that I can get it stuck and they're so comfy and you still get good gas mileage and the insurance is decent and I've had that 2 l and other cars and it's a great engine and it just makes accelerating effortless you barely even have to hit the gas to get on the highway and all of a sudden you're doing 80 mph
I was in the market for a Wranger and 4Runner and bought the Bronco Sport. Made the most sense budget wise and it was more practical. It reminded me of the LR2s and the Average Joe's Defender. It's a great ride! It's a great offroader that serves as a perfect daily driver as well!

@@joestout2959 Same, my first vehicle was a '77 Ford F100 with over 300k miles on it. The horn was duct-taped to the steering wheel and the seat belts were held in place with bungee cords, but I still loved that thing. No power steering and like 6.5 turns lock-to-lock. It was a good workout.
That 300-6 sounded like a school bus when I mashed the gas pedal.
We gon ignore the fact the top trim has steelies, legend status
If you look in the Build and Price section of Ford's website it turns out they're actually aluminum styled like steelies!
Damn so I’m the only one not really digging them?
@@chinadashauthority65 they are terrible

Looks incomplete without a spare tire on the back
It really does
Maybe an after market bumper will fix that but it would be hard and awkward with the upwards raising tailgate
As a 2nd gen CRV owner, having a swinging rear hatch is annoying as hell. I say no tire on the back is a good thing.
@@Tool0GT92 I own a 07 Suzuki Grand Vitara with a swing gate and rear spare. It doesn’t bother me at all. Only thing is it swings in the wrong direction against the curb because the Japanese drive on the other side of the road lol.
@@irishuwould5185 I park on the left side of my garage so I have to open both doors because it blocks the right side if I have to take things out.
Does Doug realize it has 10 hole wheels from the 80s GT and LX Mustangs? Nope.
Best bottle opener I've ever seen :O
70% looks like a land rover discovery
It's like FORD created the vehicle Land Rover was too stupid to make. This thing is awesome. Total hit.
Yep, they both have four wheels.
30% Kia
@@1vw4me Why would Land Rover make such a cheap vehicle if they are a luxury brand?

Styling score is no better than a Toyota or a Mini
boxy doesnt translate to good looking, doug doesnt evaluate the styling aspect by his oppinion only
@@marciliojunior4919 Oh right, there's just mass disgust over its styling...
That steering wheel though...

I bought the first edition Bronco Sport. I love the vehicle. It's awesome. Looks better than the Badlands.
Great job..I think this is right up my alley.
