2023 Ford Bronco Raptor review! The Ford Bronco Raptor is a special off-roader -- and an amazing, upgraded, muscular version of the new Ford Bronco. Today I'm reviewing the Ford Bronco Raptor, and I'll show you all the quirks and features of the Bronco Raptor. I love seeing Doug get progressively sweatier while going through the interior
I noticed too, maybe he doesn't use the ac because it would give wind noise?
@@PreludeDude I'd prefer a little wind noise
Never seen anyone's biceps be the first thing to start sweating.
@@chipskylark8869 my guess it’s from wiping his face
I was gonna say that 🤣 bro who cares about wind noise don't sweat profusely
Honestly, I miss the breakdown of each category in the Doug Score. It was interesting to see WHY Doug gave each score.
I think the issue with the score is that in some instances, things like weekend fun and a few others, probably didn't make much sense since that's not the intended reason for a specific car's existence.
Yeah but I wish he did it in strict reference to a category, like acceleration, styling, pricing and so on should be scored relative to the class of car they belong to.
Yeah...that is true but I think he could just have different scoring tables for different vehicle types, and then walk through each category like before.
I suspect another reason he stopped was to save time per video. But I agree it would be nice to have it back
@@frogturtle Pretty much every single video of his is 20+ minutes. He definitely didn't do it to save time.
@@parkerhill9725 Yeah, I think if you do it relative to that car's specific category, that could possibly work. It's funny to score a base Kia Optima as low because it doesn't have the same 'fun appeal' as a Kia Stinger, when both cars are designed for specific purposes.
I'm very surprised that they didn't go with the rear-view mirror with the camera. This is a perfect candidate for that, and I cannot imagine it being that expensive considering the other OEMs that are using it.
Doug has been pretty much the only reviewer I watch in the last 4-5 years. He really does a great job, I feel like he’s honest and professional but still enough amateur feel that you know he’s a real guy.
Yet his opinions on the hood extractor and the exhausts are terrible
That "Baja mode" killed me. Through my headphones it sounds exactly the same 😅😭
I got the same impression. I suspect that the engine would have to be revved much higher to hear the difference.
Me to both of them sounded the same maybe if you hear it in person it’s different
They should have some optional upright exhaust pipe outlets optional for deep fording creeks out in the desert....well, if there's any water left. I guess baja racing doesn't get as wet as wadi crashing.
I like Doug videos because he shows you the quirks and features of not only vehicles, but also American regulations.
I think he’s the one w the QUIRKS!
I’m happy to see someone get so excited about cars and trucks but honestly sometimes his “energy” is distracting and gives me anxiety lol
Meanwhile my country's regulations used to require lorries/light trucks to have an orange light on the roof that blinked when they were travelling close to or above their then speed limit of 60km/h (37mph)
One of the things I love about Ford is that they usually do think about just about everything their customers could want in their vehicles. They always deliver, and with the revived Bronco's I've been pretty much nothing but impressed. Hope to own one some day, would prefer a Bronco over a F150!
Funny you should say that.
From my experience, ford is the company which always fails to deliver what the customers want.
Last I checked, they were leaving the markets of Europe, Japan, and South Africa because of poor sales.
@@ayush885 people here don't have taste...and seeing ur comment, yours is actually poorer
Ford is going bankrupt, and I don't think the Government should bail them out. let them go out of business. FORD'S ARE GARBAGE!!!!!!!
Considering the Mustang out sells the Crapmaro by A LOT...
@@ayush885 In my country I'd say that American brands are seen as neither as luxurious as German ones (except Opel) nor as economical as Japan or Korean ones (other European brands are less common here too, with Volvo & JLR being an exception more recently)
I know it's a long shot, but when I have enough money, this will be the car of my choice.
I can’t wait to drive this from my apartment to my office job
Wish you the best
Agreed. Notwithstanding another solid video from Daddy Doug, just another mall-crawler 🤷♂️
@@jeffmills80 I never heard the term "mall crawler" before. That's awesome. Haha.
The OP's post is not only funny but also true. So many ppl buy these high performance vehicles because of their styling and/or for bragging rights but then they just drive them to the store & back on paved roads. What a waste.
@@jeffmills80 I see more jeeps at the mall than anything 😂😂
Doug: “the price is not as high as expected”
Dealerships: “Wait till you see our dealership markup”
Haha, yep, plenty more room for a dealer markup!
half million dollar markup lol
@Tommy Le good luck marking up things in this market. They’ll just sit on lots. Recession buyers aren’t going to be as plentiful
let the rich kids fight over them like the first edt
That is why direct sales need to be legalized nation wide.
I'm really glad they toned down the graphics on the Bronco Raptor. I have a 2017 150 Raptor with no side vinyls and no tailgate plate and I think it looks super clean, but these are much more subtle than the optional graphics/badging on the truck and still look nice without being too over the top. I could see myself swapping the 150 for a Bronco Raptor down the line once my boys are out of car seats, but for now the ample space in the back of the cab is a godsend
Every car channel is releasing bronco raptor content but Doug’s might be the only one I actually watch for more than 10 seconds because I KNOW he’s going to be thorough
Even if you're a Jeep or Toyota person, you have to admit we're lucky to see manufacturers putting out awesome, fun impractical vehicles again. There's no way a vehicle like this would have been released even 15 years ago.
Yeah it really is awesome, the kind of cars being released. But (at least in America) if our ‘amazing’ president has anything to say/do about it, gasoline is on its way out. Forcing our hands to not be able to use them in the future. Sure is a shame. I miss the 90’s 😂
You are 100% right about that. And the companies had this technology 15 years ago too.
@@farewell_to_normalcy9352 Petrol is on its way out. Your "I cannot even ride a bicycle without falling" president doesn't have a single thing to do with it.
Lucky? To have vehicle that nobody will be able to buy at MSRP? Or do you mean a vehicle that nobody will have the money to be able to put gas in?
I'm clueless as to why people like big Jeeps that cannot handle a corner. Can anyone explain what's so fun about having a vehicle like this? What's fun about paying out the nose in gas?
The dealer markups for this will be insane
200k for a bronco? Yes please
They’ll easily be selling this for 50k + over MSRP. Some maybe even 100k over.
I wish ford would do something about this.
@@HeyBigChriss I do too Dealers were originally to protect us from markups and now they’re the ones screwing everyone over
Hopefully we won't be saying this in 10 years
Not as bad as if they made an electric version lol
The little knee pad that Doug uses when kneeling while explaining something on the outside of the car always cracks me up!
It is a beautiful time in life when that evil person Mahim Mustakim doesn’t ruin the comment section :) 😈
Thanks

Ford did a good job keeping the exhaust tucked up for clearance
Yep, very astute and indicates they had someone on the design team who has actually wheeled. Turndown exhausts are huge
Now THIS is the SUV I'd buy. I agree with you, Doug. I like the boxy SUVs. Nothing like a sporty, boxy, off road SUV. I'd take this desert running. Absolutely.
Yea I'm not even an SUV fan but the new bronco especially the raptor is so good looking. I would buy in a heartbeat if I had the money
@@ephedra443 But the visibility must be a headache in busy urban traffic
Take it to the retirement home bud
@@aidaaliten8817 agreed.
@@REALBanannaman someone had too much broccoli juice.
I worked at a Ford dealership and when I was going through training I was astounded by how many different engines they've employed 2021-2023, from the 1.0 in the ecosport to the good ol 5.0.
The hidden exhaust tips are very much appreciated for someone who does a lot of crawling
The tucked in exhaust pipes is well thought out for those of us who offroad where there's rocks and gullies. Drive down the gully and as you start the clime on the other side, the rear of the vehicle can hit the rocks you just went down. Even the tucked in exhaust pipe on my Wrangler is often getting squished. I bring my crow bar to pull it back open. Ford thought this out quite well for those who don't buy this thing to just mall crawl.
I don't know who would take a brand new truck rock climbing bro. It definitely is for mall crawling and for people who want to look tougher than they really are. It's basically an ego vehicle.
Good pointers, but most people - most likely right-winged white people - will buy this to flex on their neighbors, because that's what suburban people do. They don't know the first thing about offroad endeavors. LOL. Would be nice to have $70K to risk destroying.
@@brarautorepairs tell me you drive a garbage jeep without telling me you drive a garbage jeep
@@brarautorepairs so? People buy cars like Shelby mustangs and hellcats, with zero intention of ever going faster than 100mph… the capabilities is what sells a vehicle. Not the practicality. The fact ford dealers still can’t keep these on the lots should say plenty,
@@brarautorepairs I’d take this off roaring, I wouldn’t take a G wagon off roading.
Well, Ford definitely has to improve their A/C by including "Two shirts option". It'd be very useful to Doug.
He's said in other videos he can't run the AC because it messes with the audio too much.
That being said, I'd probably sweat worse than Doug
@@AdamG1983 see, I think Doug simply suffers from ocd. The air would not b tht bad on the audio if on low. We’d hear it I’m sure but it wouldn’t drown out good ole dougy boy tho, nothing can.
Come on Doug, there are plenty of golf courses in Palm Springs to take the Braptor off-roading! 😂
I love how many raptor specific details there are. Meanwhile, FCA threw a 392 V8 in the wrangler and called it a day.
That's what they do with everything.
@@burgerbandit3646 because that’s what people want!
And I would still rather have the 392

I think it make it looks cheap. Not a fan.

Another great video Doug! I’m a big fan of the show and I live in Palm Springs. I recognize the beginning stages of swamp ass anywhere lol
There is some amazing off-roading here though and if you ever come back (when it’s not so hot lol) please let me point you in the right direction! Also, come back with a low slung hyper car and I can show you where you can safely push it to its limits. Keep up the good work buddy!!!

Cries in Chevy blazer 🤣
Looks like a real life Hotwheel or RC Car, and looks very unique in the current world of all similarly shaped SUV’s.

Agreed, I can't stand most of the new SUVs. Maybe I am finally getting old but they truly are all starting to look the same (GM, European, Japanese, Korean makes). So hard to tell these apart and it has been going in that direction for years. Dodge/Jeep, Landover and a few others still make them unique, but few others. Most of my family has one of these bland versions and I get the impression they don't like my Bronco. Well to bad as you can drive your vanilla SUV all day and I can have my unique looking cool car that can actually do something offroad!
@@panzer948 Eh most land rovers look like incredibly boring overpriced generic SUVS in modern day as well, only very few land rovers look cool.
It’s funny a brick is now considered innovative. I mean it’s a great looking and incredibly fast/capable brick but still a brick.
Great review as always. Lots of info in short time. Only thing I see missed is the paddle shifters... looking forward to your off road review. 👍👍
The ground clearance is really something 👏
Couldn’t tell the difference in exhaust modes 😂
That makes 2 of us haha

Would love to see you parking this in between two cars in a standard parking lot!
Owners won't even try, they'll just park across two spots and tell you to deal with it.

Another stellar doug review. Thank you for taking the time to put these together. The hard work will pay off.
Throttle House did some pretty solid off-roading in their video, and from a very relatable novice point of view 👍🏼
100% love the review model being compared to the full release model months apart, it gives us a view on what was considered and what really made the cut and was changed on release. Thank you Doug!
Someone once asked me why they put the window switches in the middle. I smugly replied, "Its because the doors are removable, so the switches had to find another place."., They replied, "then why do you need window switches?"
You don't, but less wires to disconnect when the doors are removed. The less you have in the door, the lighter the doors to handle and also less to get damaged when they are removed etc. It's just a smarter move
I think its arguable, because you still need signal and power wires leaving the door anyway, and arguably the switches dont add to the weight of the door, the motor and mechanism is heavy. Simplifying the door is a smart move though, I'd probably do the same but its interesting.
Because some buyers might actually WANT windows?
@@tedschmitt178 windows go w/ the doors.
thats what I was thinking the whole time, its the same connection for the widow motor and once the doors are gone the windows are too, so who cares about the switch when the thing is already... gone
Ford will be recalling all its engines on all Broncos.
As usual doug knocked it out of the park!!!
Gotta love the Easter eggs
This is gonna be one of the all time best suv cars it looks like an all time great its gonna be a big deal for a long time it looks like a movie car

The Baja mode isn't only on the raptor, it's also on the Badlands trim. I I would have mentioned the cameras and the side mirrors, being able to see both the front wheels when you're trying to place them on rock ledges is a game changer. That is also on the regular Bronco models with the higher trims.

Today was the day the media was allowed to release their videos and articles of the Bronco Raptor. If he followed his usual schedule he'd be behind everyone else and miss the hype. He did the same thing for the GR Corolla recently.
One of my most anticipated new car releases and you saw it here first. Thanks Doug!
Facts!
Hey Doug! I got a chance to drive one of these only briefly, but I was surprised at how well it handles for having such big smoky tires. I thought the active suspension system did a great job of compensating for these big rubber donuts waiting around. I will say two, I think the interior design is rather garish. It reminds me of a marvel, superhero movie design. Not quite my cup of tea, but I think you get a lot for your dollar with this raptor.
raptor was my dream car. now its this! oh baby that looks good
Only a matter of time before Jeep does a TRX HellCat powered version of the Wrangler.
And, presumably, before Ford does a GT500 V8-powered version of this!
I’m surprised they haven’t done it already considering they’ve been milking that motor for years
Unbelievable if Ford doesn't include a LED screen rear view mirror to eliminate the view blockage issue. Such a simple fix
@@conor7154 Rear spare tire mount is my guess
What’s wrong with the back up camera?
@@ReDEclipsE28 nothings wrong with that, but with the led screen mirror you have a constant unobstructed view of what’s behind you without having to put the car in reverse or mess with the video screen.
@@Johnny-xj5qu have you driven with one of those or used them long term? You don't understand how you expect to look in the mirror and adjust your head position or angle to see more - with a screen you get one static view and that's is. The rear view camera is fantastic on the Bronco and removing the 3rd brake light and going to an internal wheel light will help greatly.
@@D3thM3tal It’s not even a brake light. The light is just the marker light. Doug left out that vehicles over 80 inches wide need marker lights but do not need a 3rd brake light. So you could probably easily mount a set of the marker lights to the back glass of the removable top and then have a set on the roll bar for when you remove the top.
You know a company is confident when they're upset you won't offroad their vehicle.
22:40 In addition to the power port, it is seen in the image that it has a 1/4 nut to place the tripod of a camera, very neat.
I again quote @thestraightpipes, “cars and trucks are only for rich people now a days.” Still the most accurate statement of the last couple years
There are still relatively affordable cars, even though the average price of all vehicles has gone up. If you just want a regular ass SUV, check out the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe. Decent trims for like $36k. Subarus are pretty good deals, too.
I would just add one word to that statement: "cars and trucks for enthusiasts are only for rich people now a days".
@@theglowcloud2215 Your out of touch if you think 36k is affordable. 20k for a base Corolla if you can find one without markups is already made for the absolute elites of society in my books.

Right now there is a recall on Broncos, engines are blowing up 😂🔥
Where did you get that information?
Here's all I found from Car and Driver website I have pasted the article below:
NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation is looking into complaints that owners' 2021 Ford Bronco SUVs suddenly stopped running and would not restart.
The cause is believed to be a possible valve defect in the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, which is standard on the 2021 Bronco Wildtrak and optional on most other models.
The safety agency received three separate petitions in March 2022 requesting the investigation, which could lead to a recall if the results warrant one.
The ultra-popular Ford Bronco is now being investigated for a possible recall after 32 owners complained that their 2021 model SUVs stopped running suddenly and would not restart. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Office of Defects Investigation is currently at the stage of reviewing three separate petitions filed in March asking for an investigation into the issue. told Car and Driver in a statement: "We are aware of a select number of engines with this concern and we are investigating. If any customers are experiencing issues, they will be covered under the vehicle's five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. We will cooperate with the NHTSA as we always do."
NHTSA says 25,538 Broncos are potentially affected, although there is no recall on the horizon at this point. Owners can check the NHTSA recalls site to see if their vehicle becomes subject to a recall.
I read this as NO RECALL. So ...what are you talking about? Probably just a bunch of pissed off Jeep lovers complaining or trying to disparage Ford in my opinion.
I'm shocked at how detailed the detailed the infotainment system is, so cool! Very awesome interior, great vehicle in general.
The infotainment isn't special for the raptor, it's on every bronco (and it's the same ford sync system you find in other ford vehicles like the F-150).
You said “detailed the” twice

Dougie boy, you went all out with this one lol, thank you for making such a good video while sweating half your body weight in the heat.😂
The law about vehicle lights in the USA is so backwards. In almost every country, orange lights on the outside of a car means turn signals, so do the lights placed in the mirrors. Also, in the USA, rear blinkers can be red. That bugs me to no end.
It's not nearly as difficult as you make it sound. You seriously have trouble telling brakes from turn signals while driving? Or just overthink it?
@2 Corinthians 4:7-11 Yes, I kinda understand the "simpler" design on very old cars, where you would have less bulbs to worry about. But on modern cars with light clusters that always have space for more bulbs, it just doesn't make sense.
3 dot light is the most coolest regulation ever made
@dougdemuro should do drive reviews based on the purpose of the car for every car… track for performance cars, offroad for offroad cars, regular/bumpy roads for luxury cars etc to somewhat test their capabilities
