I loved that rooster singing in the middle of the video...hahahaha
That little 180 degree change of direction rubber fitting that attaches to the pump was split in exactly the same place as yours on my Tacoma. Tank was fine with no holes or cracks and the pump seal into the tank was good too. Since you probably cannot get just the little 180 degree fitting, I just went directly from the pump discharge to the windshield washer fitting with a 3/16 inside diameter rubber hose from Auto Zone. End of story. My Tacoma is 23 years old and I couldn't believe how nice the tank was.....looked brand new....must be my low miles of 110K. NOTE; The tank shroud is attached to the tank at two locations with a staple. If you are gentle and careful you can pry the stables straight up and then be able to separate the shroud from the tank with some careful prying. If you can make your repair with the shroud in place, do so. I removed mine so I could make a better inspection of the tank. When you go to reattach the shroud to the tank you might have to enlarge the staple holes with a tiny drill bit (# 60) to make it much easier to push the staple back through the plastic tank flange and then bend the stables back over. If you cannot re use your stables you can attach the shroud to the tank flanges by drilling and using 1/8 inch pop rivets which is an easy job (if you have a pop rivet gun). I highly recommend removing your tire for this job, it takes just a few minutes and gives you much more room to work. Good Luck !!
Looked the same on my 03. Pump cost $25 and was easy fix after seeing video. Born and raised on Kauai living in CO now. Had to fix this before winter. Thanks for posting.
Your lucky, everything is way cheaper in the mainland. You just missed a bunch of storms down here.
Hopefully I get to see snow one day.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting.

Thanks for your video my friend. I just bought a Tacoma a couple of days ago, and after a detailed inspection, I found that the windshield washer fluid container is broken. It seemed that removing it was gonna be very difficult. But now, after I saw your very useful video, I thinnk I can do it. Thsnk you.
Same thing with me! Great video.
Aloha my friend!! I had this same problem with my 1997 Camry when I bought it a few years ago. I thought it was the reservoir but it was just that rubber elbow coming from the washer pump. Mine was split in exactly the same spot as yours. That explained why It would only leak if I used the windshield washer. Great video!!
This is exactly what I have to do on my '97 Tacoma. Mahalos for the video. Finally I can understand someone and of course it's because you obviously local! This Kona lady is grateful
Thanks for watching and commenting hope it goes well.
Aloha and take care
I also found the same reservoir to be cracked on my '95. Found the OEM part online at several places for $83 plus shipping.
I just bought a new one from Bill Kids Toyota in Timonium Maryland. My "jar and stem were all cracked and leaking too. This comment date is 12/26/2022. The jar, stem, filter, and cap, cost me $189.00 with 6% Maryland sales tax. Thanks for the info on how to access this part.
Thanks for the video. I got the same issue, I took the wheel off fluke you mention and speed up the time in half. It's not the container that leak. It's the pump cost around $21.00 from Autozone.
Awesome job! You saved a bunch of money by doing it yourself.
Aloha
:)
I'm the one who should say thanks for your video it was really useful.
Same here, the fill neck just dry rotted and fell apart but the tank body still holds fluid. Before this, that half circle pump coupler split along the mold seam and the puddle below led me there. I'll be doing the same as you... new reservoir of some sort.
This is great, my daughters needs replacement on a 99 Toy-Tacoma, think they are the same as your 98, not sure. Still trying to find a replacement reservoir at the moment but wanted a quick guide on removal. Thumbs up and thank you.
Very easy to replace after watching video!! Had to cut hole in bottom for some type of water filter.
thanks. I learned a lot. My 97 tacoma tubing from reservoir to pump had a tear
+BTreotch Awesome! Thanks for watching and commenting.

It was heavily edited but I pretty much show everything.
If I were to do it again without the camera it would take me about seven minutes.

Gracias por subir esta clase de videos 👍
I checked this to see any tips as to how to get this off the EASY way.
After watching I have decided I don't really need to change it out, just thought I did.
I now carry a $5 squeegee and a bottle of cleaner.
Looks the same as my 2004. Very helpful! Thank you!
+Brian Hansen Thank you so much for checking it out and commenting.

Thanks a lot brother I had no idea how to get it out
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment!

So what did you do, glued it (If so with what) or got a new replacement?
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It helped me out. Guess what I have to do this weekend? :)
never laughed soo hard in my life.....
I think mine has a leak near the top, I think must be where the elbow and hose connected. I still able to use it except I cannot fill up to the top when it used to be. It started to leak after I filled up 2/3 or more than half way. Not sure I want to remove it because I think I may break something during the process; however, thanks so much for the video.
how do you separat the pigtails on the wiring harness?
Thanks for the how to video iworkforbudlight,,, good pre-game warm up for my 99 Tacoma's resevoir
Thanks for video. This will save me some time and $. :)

So why is the light on if still working
2002
Because the cracks?
It got cracks but still working
Any ideas out
The low fluid washer light?
Fixed it last night, wiped down the tube with a big hole in it with lacquer thinner (good hot surface), wrapped with alum-ducting-ventilation tape, the real foil type that's crazy sticky. Will suffice for now.
Thank you thank you and thank you for leaving a comment.
Aloha
Thanxs .....................Think I will try and fix "in place" ??? I'm 70yrs old .......Will approach from top side and epoxy !!
Take your time Bruce.
Aloha and take care
Thanx ....Lime, Orange or Lemonade ? (BudLite)???
I have a 2002 Tacoma and mine has been leaking for some time. Yesterday I noticed that the neck was full of cracks. Its a shame Toyota used such cheap plastic to make these.
Lee Mullen Mines from 1998. I'm surprised it lasted this long through my abuse. Yeah seems like yours should have lasted longer.
Thank you so much for watching and the great feedback.
Aloha and take care
My Tacoma is a 1997.....has never leaked I live in the NW. I think these tanks fail more quickly in hot dry climates.
I'm glad it helped. Thank you so much for watching and subscribing.
Aloha and drive safe
I'm not sure if it is the same but should be the same idea.
I wish you good luck and thank you so much for the positive feedback.
Wish I had a better camera at the time.
Aloha and take care
So how much did you spend of did u rebuild? I am facing the same problem
I hope it was easy to replace like this one.
Thank you for watching and commenting.

Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Aloha
Man I'm gonna get a price from the dealer today and have a feeling its not going to be good.
Much Mahalos for watching.
Aloha
Lots of price difference on replacement reservoirs; $134, $85, $65......just wonder what the difference in quality is ? Also seem to come in two parts; the filler neck and the tank. The tanks I looked at seem to be identical. Wonder how good the seal is? Anybody have any experience with the replacement tank ?
I bought my reservoir from my local Toyota dealership for $130. They’re harder and harder to source, that’s why I went to the parts dept at dealership. I have 02 Tacoma v6 prerunner. The tank and neck all came together labeled part # 85315-04050. Hope this helps!
You should do a second part.
Thanks amigo
Thor B Thanks for watching and commenting.
Aloha
did it actually just took you 5 minutes to take this off? Or some portion of the video has been cut off?
Mahal bruddah! I drive a 96 Taco 4x2
Awesome!
Thanks for checking out the video and commenting!
Aloha and take care
so... took mine out today... took about 40 minutes... because 2 out of the four bolts are really hard to get to and all the bolts are terribly rusty. one bolt managed to fail in shear.
Did you video putting it back on?
Negative. Installation would be in reverse order.
Give yourself credit for tackling such a task. You saved money by doing it yourself.
Wow u fought that bottle way too much, take off the air box and tire ....way easier
Cost about $123
Toyota part # 85315-04050 for this truck. The reservoir was too brittle to repair.
Thank you so much for watching.
Aloha
what is the part number for that reservoir
Sorry not sure, but it is from Toyota.
Just got one on eBay$ 40.00 free shipping
Had an auto parts store look up the part by VIN number and it worked.
8331504050 $100.00
:)
Flex seal tape. !
Sorry needed two hands.
I easily repaired my cracked reservoir before it was too late with fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin from a kit. Here's the video if anyone is interested in my experience:

This seems to be a very common problem on aging Tacomas. The heat eventually deteriorates the plastic until it cracks or crumbles.
worsethanchiggers Awesome will do!
Thanks for watching and commenting.
It's 110 dollars from Toyota...no way to repair, either (cheap plastic). Gonna have to replace with a new one.
I believe there are repair kits for washer fluid tanks and they use some form of fiberglas patch.
The way he did it is not very informative, looks like one of those who does half ass job and doesn’t give much info on how to take it out and completely replacing it. Remove this video, doesn’t help much👎🏾
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on a free video.
Aloha and take care.
