  • Was having an issue with a crusty/sticky brake pedal. So we slept in a new booster. This video kind of “breaks” it down on how to do that.

    Your brake fluid is beyond expired. Could your problem have been poor adjustment of the take up?

    • @willgetitdone15
      @willgetitdone15  Před 10 měsíci

      I did adjust before replacing. Didn’t help. The fluid is old, but wasn’t a big concern for me at the moment.

      I had my brake fluid flushed and a short time later it was dark again. In my case, it could've been because the new fluid dissolved a lot of crud in the lines and it showed up in the reservoir or the fluid could also be dark because it's deteriorating the og flexible front and rear brake lines that connect to the calipers/drums.

    Hows the Napa Brake booster holding up? Today i installed a Napa booster in my 95 taco 3.4 4x4, stops good now. Seems like everyone on the forums say aftermarket napa boosters are junk. We will see, guess. Very helpful video thx!

      Thanks for watching! I’ve definitely had my problems with Napa parts. But they are right around the corner from me. It was about convenience. I ended up selling this truck so I can’t speak to how well it held up.

    I have a 2015 tacoma. I've changed everything but the brake booster. When I apply my brakes it sounds like my ABS is working against my manual application. Is that a brake booster issue or something else?

    • @willgetitdone15
      @willgetitdone15  Před 16 dny

      I’m not 100% sure. But I would not think that your booster would have anything to do with that. Do you have an ABS light on the dash?

    • @mirarobins5138
      @mirarobins5138 Před 16 dny

      @willgetitdone15 it has been coming on randomly. But not necessarily when I apply my brakes, however, there's an electronic whistle that I can hear just after I stop.

      @@mirarobins5138. Possibly a wheel speed sensor going bad..? Almost sounds like something with ABS itself giving you an issue. I’m not totally sure my man. I’ve never experienced that.

      Ok. I have another diagnosis. ABS control module. I was told I'd have to go to the dealership for repair due to reprogramming the system, and we all know that'll be way too expensive for an everyday working grunt. Can the ABS be disengaged or diverted so it won't interfere with manual usage. I grew up pumping brakes. I can still do it.

    UPDATE: Nope. I tried this way but with my luck, it was too much of a risk to push the master cylinder far enough back to allow enough clearance for the booster. Just got too sketchy for my taste. I'll be removing the master cylinder then bleeding the dang system after the job is done. BTW, my truck has a charcoal canister right next to the booster so I had to remove it to give more clearance. That was fairly easy. It's a state thing for some trucks to require that canister. - End Update.
    I just began today deciphering a whistling sound coming from my brake pedal on my 01 Tacoma 2wd double cab prerunner. After researching a while, a few hours ago I was pretty much convinced that it's a vacuum leak on that springy rubber boot on the booster that goes into the firewall and where the pedal attaches to. This was the first video I looked at to see how to do the job. I don't need to look at any other videos. Thank you!

      @@willgetitdone15 All went well. The brake fluid was fairly dark even though it wasn't very old, so bleeding them was a good thing after all. I had just put on new slotted/drilled R1 Concepts rotors a couple of weeks ago so the brakes feel even better now with the new booster, bleeding and fresh fluid.
