It's funny that you say proud and loving father because that's at least just as much the mother's role (usually more so even). Trump's father was a strong figure and encouraged him to succeed which he did (despite his flaws in other areas). His mother was a typical loving mother. Trumps character traits are simply due to his inherent character(no one else's fault).
If you look at his vids its not like he always does that cocoon thing so why would you run with such a trivial and random gesture he happens to do this one time. Seems like the musings of someone with mother/father problems themselves.

EDIT - He clearly shows signs of insecurity by constantly reassuring himself he's great, amazing, tremendous and better than anyone else. Something is missing, and psychology tends to trace that back to childhood or the teens. Trump's insistent tendency to get and be the best of everything shows something is still undermining his confidence. I'm willing to bet it's dad.
And his success wasn't earned, it was inherited. He didn't just take a small million dollar loan from dad. Not only did his father give him up to 3 additional loans (one of which of more than 3 million dollars in casino chips), Donald Trump also inherited part of his father's fortune upon his death. His political "success" is just a testament to the sad state of the world and the ignorance of people who don't understand what is required of a politician fronting the world's most powerful nation.

As for the rest of your comment, there are studies linking narcissistic personalities with low self-esteem. Narcissism is a delusional self-affirmation working as substitute for real recognition and a tool to reinforce value which one does not feel one has. You don't develop low self-esteem in a vacuum, and it's often something cultivated at home, specifically in your relationship with your parents. In this case, and examining what has been made public about Trump's family life, yeah, it's his father.
