I have driven a suzuki jimny for ten years, It's an awesome 4x4 it holds its own with the big boys, it as loads of advantages over bigger 4x4 's, it gets into places they can't, shorter wheel Base means it climbs better over ridges, it's lightweight and doesn't bog down as easily as the bigger 4x4', fuel economy it's far better more miles for your money and on tarmac it even out performs most conventional cars it's a legend simple as.

the only place where it has "loads of advantages over bigger 4x4 's" is MPG. And the city center. It'll never even get to places where Wranglers or Defenders start to straggle. There's a good reason why nobody used a Jimmy in a Paris-Dakar rally. The guy said it right - isn't not a bad little toy

After a lot of LRs, I dabbled with one, and liked it - low running costs, competent enough for "real world" off road stuff - rough tracks on the way to walking the dogs, super reliable. If they do have one weakness - the rust proofing underneath is woeful, and doesn't take long to look dreadful - buy one that's been looked after, and keep it well wax-oiled, and wash off any salt from winter driving. Arguably, the earlier ones are better (lower class RFL uk), and less electronics to go wrong.... I gather, in Japan, there's a diesel option - pity that wasn't brought to the UK.

You'd be surprised how much you can fit in the back of one of these. I went on a week camping trip and took, Gas Stove, 10 Man Tent, Stretcher, 1 Medium/Large Esky, 1 Regular handheld esky capable of holding say a 32pack of drinks?. Camp lights, a single foam mattress for the stretcher, spearfishing gear, sleeping bag, a bag of clothes, gas stove stand. A Tarp. And more (that I can't think of). Oh and 2 small gas bottles.
Going from 0-60 is fine in suburb/city traffic. You can comfortably sit on 80 with about 2600 RPM. Going 90-100, you'll sit on approx 3000 RPM. Fuel is definitely more economical for city driving as the small cylinder engine with the high rpm on highway driving will drink some fuel (not heaps tho).
I definitely don't agree with the 6ft person having heaps of leg room, I'm 5ft 11 and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone taller.
4WD'ing in these are a breeze, since it's so light, going on the beach and up the dunes is no problem at all. Can easily get to where the heavier 4WD's would struggle. Paid $4000 for my Jimny which has about 132,000km on the clock which I thought was a great price. Bought it from a Dr. who was first owner.

Proud owner of a Jimny. The wind up isn't instantaneous, it takes a lot of turns to be able to feel it, and if you go over any bumps in the road, its usually able to spin a wheel during the bounce. That being said, if he did that in my car, I'd kill him!

Instead I got a 2000 Toyota Yaris Verso 1.3 VVTi with looooooads of room in it plus it was cheaper to insure. Ok, I can't drive over a ploughed field but there aren't that many where I live anyway.

Yeah i noted he did same..dont know about 1999 to 2005 suzuki jimnys. But after 2005.. not recomended as no locking centre diff.. thus getting wind up...you can drive a jimny in 4wd h up to 60 mph providing road is say uneven surface or snowed or iced..but on dry surface not recomended...

Cute little thing, but if you're looking for a cartoonish little 90s Japanese 4x4, the X-90 does it even better. Plus, it's even less practical.

A f****t was a bundle of kindling sold to city folks where there weren’t any trees. The word comes from Fasci, the bundle of sticks that demonstrates the power of many per Mussolini, the Roosevelt dime and the ape that takes over the world. Also the reason we have Pride parades and such. So this conversation has gone full circle, hasn’t it?

If you've ever stuck an American 3/4 ton up to the door sills and struggled even with a 10,000 lb winch to get out, you learn to appreciate a machine that can get unstuck with a tug from an anorexic lap dog.
