Hi Kim ,I have the 2014 jimny and it’s a mountain goat. To all jimny owners, if you don’t carry passengers then do this. Remove the back seats and build a floor, remove the jack and put it under the drivers seat. The jimny now has plenty of room. I can carry everything from car fridge to all camping gear and water for over a week. That’s all in the back and nothing on the roof. I have a 2” lift and standard types and they work just fine out bush. I live in Western Australia, a hot and dusty place most of the year out back and beyond. It’s jimny country. Nice review Kim. Regards Robert.😎🇦🇺🦘

my first car was a 2015 jimny. even stock it performed really good in offroad, and it also behaved well as a citycar thanks to its compact dimensions. you definitely feel the lack of a 6th gear when going on a highway, and inside it's pretty cramped. despite this i still love that car and its personality, i had lots of fun with it

Enjoyed the video, those steel wheel rims really suit the Jimny, trying to find some for my 2020 Jimny. l think if a Jimny or SJ 413/410 is to be used a lot offroad it really does need lower transfer gears, especially in low range, my 413 lwb had 6.5 to 1 low range with 29" mud terrain tires and front and rear difflocks and out performed most coil sprung Land Rovers and it still had the stock engine!!

Great off roader, but as a highway car its terrible and hard wearing on the engine. Prone to blowing head gaskets. I think the cooling system is under engineered which makes the alloy head and block combination vulnerable for warpage and blowing head gaskets.

Toy dont need to change the gearbox, how ever checking the graering in the axles or transferase is a good idea 30" is just about what you can have on stock gearing.
In low range its okey, but its slow for regular driving.
Depends a lot on your style of wheeling. Crawling in stock gearing is tricky..

Yes, I've gone with the ply floor with a few hatches to make use of the cavities created.

They are weak engines subject to head gasket failure often made worse by over modified, wrong tyres and you will destroy you wheel bearings and drive shafts as it to much resistance and weight. Big fat tyres are not always needed as they just fill with mud . I was modifying Suzukis before all the big hype started. It would have been better with a 1.5 diesel engine
