  • Showing some stuff I did when I didn't have a Gopro. I'd bought a used one after about a month. So here's work that was done but not on video.

    Hi Rob .. I just watched this video and read most of the comments... I think 🤔 you been doing a awesome job on Steve's car it's looking a hell of a lot better then when the car first came there .. Just put the steering box in and see if Steve wants to take it to his house .. It would be nice to see you go back to working on your wife's 55 four door .. That's been sitting there for awhile too.. Rob don't think 🤔 I'm trying to tell you what to do I'm just giving you MY OPINION.. Take care Rob and I hope your wife is doing well .. YOUR FRIEND BOB FROM ILLINOIS...

    Totally agree with you and think you have every right to be bummed out, whether it’s a regular customer or relative, when they have no problem spending over a hundred dollars an hour or what ever they charge to do shoddy, unsafe work and then complain when you are only charging for your time and using a lot of your own parts because he’s family and you’re trying to save him money and then complain that it’s costing him too much? Wow that’s gratitude for you isn’t it! That car is stunning thanks to the extra care and details you’ve put into it. You should be proud of what you’ve done to that car and have earned every penny!

    Sorry to hear your cousin doesn't understand what he got himself into. It's pretty clear how much the previous shop screwed up the car. You have done a ton of work on the swapped chassis, the trunk work, doors/glass, engine, brakes etc. I can easily see 500 hours at $35 equals $17,500. That is so reasonable that Steve could NOT get that level of work anywhere! Ask him what he would want for the car and then I might make a purchase and have you finish it! You're right when you say buy one already done if you plan on paying someone else to restore it. It's expensive and folks often don't understand the time involved. We work for money, but our pride and gratitude are the real payoffs! You should feel the pride and I for one have a lot of gratitude for ALL of your posts. I gave everyone's comments a thumbs up!

    Hourly Rate 85 dollars at least you are a tri five master technician and the fact that you offer your skills for the price you charge is very kind of you man. It is tough on the customer when time to settle on the BILL I WOULD BE HONORED TO HAVE YOU ON A PROJECT AS I HAVETD BEFORE YOU SIR ARE A MASTER CRAFTSMAN. NICE OF YOU TO BE THE MAN YOU ARE

    Your attention to detail work is like no other, Steve won't never find anyone who does the quality work you do for $35 a hr i wish Steve just pay you to finish it. He won't regret your quality of work or attention to detail work is 100%Top notch work!! Steve let your cuz finish it....just my 2 cents badass 55 getting close to done

    Don’t be bummed out. You saved him a lot of money using original parts from your private stash. And your hourly rate is very reasonable. Where I live it would cost 3x what you are charging. Ask me how I know!

    Man, your work is well worth the $ and then some. World class work at a super super reasonable price. Maybe he wasn’t expecting the amount of detail work, but in the end I know he will be more than happy. Great things cost money and take time. Keep up the incredible work! You’re still my favorite channel on CZcams! I’ve learned so much from you and I get to apply it to multiple vehicles that I’m working on!

    Sad story! I have never watched anyone work on cars that is as detailed as you are! I am working on my 56, by myself mostly, and it is slow and tedious work. But mostly I am having fun. ;) And I am 20 years older than you! Move on to the next job. :)

    Oh man, that's a bummer Dan! I think the guys who aren't in the trenches and don't do a lot of work on their own cars don't understand the amount of time that goes into good, quality work! It's good that you have been filming because you can go back and itemize everything for him if he still feels the work hours are off. I understand that he has already paid a lot by doing the car twice but, for your level of expertise at the rate you charge, Steve has to know he has taken a bad build and made the best of it by having a knowledgeable tri five guy on the job now, especially at your rates! Just as a comparison, my good buddy Newt from The Nitro Garage, charged me the "Good Buddy" rate of $60 an hour. He normally charges $90 an hour which is still a great hourly rate her in Calif. Most shops start at $120 an hour! I understand having to put a project on the back burner if the funds dry up. With all of the great work you have done, you have no reason to beat yourself up over it! You do excellent work! Best wishes and I hope it works out for you both! Take care Dan!

    Get to a roller and push it to the curb! Let him come pick it up. He’s lucky you even agreed to start working on it. Let him take it back to that crap shop that sandblasted the engine.

    I like the video fitzees fabrication put out a few weeks ago.he stated he works for 40 hours then gets payment.then the customer authorizes another 40 then pays it and so on.that way the customer can pay as they can afford it.i stopped working on family vehicles due to the politics of work/family is not a topic and doesn't hurt the relationship.

    I knew he had a lot of money in that car from your description. You were correcting poor work from before you got it. Your work will stand the test of time! Shoddy workmanship will not! Your statement about buying a car already done is correct. You get what you pay for. Thirty-five dollars an hour is dirt cheap for a high end restoration like you are doing with all the attention to detail. He should have taken the car to you in the first place, then he would not be so concerned about the cost. In my opinion you’re one of the best in this hobby!

    Good work isn't cheap. Cheap work isn't good. Keep the videos coming. You take pride in your work.
    That's hard to find these days. It appears that you are giving top notch restoration shop quality for pennies. Car dealers labor rates are well over $100 an hour now and the technicians do not paint nor detail parts. Who knows what it cost for TV show car restoration, but Good, Quality labor isn't Cheap.

    Hay just an idea only maybe you could talk Steve into buying some paint 🎨 after all it's going on his 55 you will need to Specify. What kinda of paint you want and where to buy it. Like said it's just an idea.

    Nobody knows more than you. Nobody does it better than you. I’ve watched hundreds of hours of videos and you’re the best. The reason you’re working on this one is because the work done by the previous shop was a total waste of money. It wasn’t even safe to drive when it came to your place.

  • @raystevens687
    @raystevens687 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Well I know where your coming from so you might need to go through all your videos and put them together and also you probably need to make a video to go a long with the other videos and give him an idea as to what's involved doing what you do hopefully it will give him an idea as to what you did. Also I think you should bring him over to your house 🏠 and have view the videos 📹 and if he has questions let him ask you what's involved to do what you didn't get on video you might even give him a demonstration on your wife 55 that way you can something done on her car that way he understands what's involved to do that your doing. Anyway I hope you like this idea 💡
