Today weâre going to talk about the master antioxidant, which is glutathione. But first, what is an antioxidant? To understand what an antioxidant is, you really need to know what a free radical is.
Letâs look at an atom with paired electrons. If one of those electrons is missing, this is an unpaired electron, making it unstable. This is called a free radical. Free radicals can create a lot of destruction throughout the cells, the cell machinery, the DNA, and more.
An antioxidant then comes along and donates the missing electron to balance out the atom and stabilize it. The problem is, that the antioxidant now loses its electron, and it becomes unstable. It then needs to get an electron from another antioxidant. This is why you have antioxidants in networks.
It may not be a good idea to take synthetic antioxidants because they have been known to cause cancer. This is because they donât come in networks. Once they donate their electron, they become the problem.
Glutathione is the most abundant antioxidant in the liver, but all of the cells make it. It reduces oxidative stress. Glutathione can help neutralize toxins that your body actually makes for various things. Glutathione also helps maintain exogenous antioxidants like vitamin C, and vitamin E. It not only acts as an antioxidant, but it also helps in detoxification. Because glutathione is sulfur, when you eat certain foods high in sulfur, you will give your body the raw material it needs to make more glutathione.

I follow Dr Berg's advice to do keto: I didn't even do full keto. I reduce carb, eat more fiber, moderate protein and fat. I eat some desserts now and then, drink a bit soda here and there but I still lose 20+ lbs and I never feel more energetic in my life. Thank you so much, Dr. Berg!

If you do low carb and moderate proteine and fat than you don't do keto, you do low carb. That is not the same. Dr Berg explains this in some of his videos
From what I understand, If you want your body in ketosis (the fat burning mode), you have to consume as close to no carbs/sugars as possible. If you have zero carbs or a VERY low amount of carbs, your body goes into ketosis. You can buy test strips to test your own urine to see if you are doing it right. However, if you eat something with carbs/sugars in it, you are kicked out of ketosis & everything that you have eaten that day (idk exactly how long before) will not be burned off like it would have in ketosis. I'm pretty sure that's how it works. I did that treats ago & lost about 40 lbs in about 11 weeks. I felt so good & had energy. I maintained for a while & then I screwed up. In trying to get back into that. đâbtw, I noticed when I lost the weight, I lost a lot from my mid section!! đ

Through a DNA test for something unrelated, I found out that I have two C677T mutated MTHFR (Methylene Tetrahydrofolate Reductase) genes, one from each parent. These genes are the methylation pathways where B12 is converted to Glutathione. Because of the two mutations, each of which causes a 35% reduction of this conversion, I can only manufacture 30% of the Glutathione my body needs. As a result, my B12 levels are always high. Now I take a Glutathione supplement in order to bypass this problem.
Same here, double positive copy of the C677T mutation. Have you confirmed by lab results any positive results since taking the new supplement? Which brand are you taking? There's so much research that a person with health issues has to do because not everything is a one size fits all. What glutathione do you all take?
You need to avoid products fortified with folic acid (we all should avoid process foods in general, anyway) and supplement with methylfolate (B9), methylcobalamin (B12) and P-5-P (B6). See the book "Dirty genes" by dr Ben Lynch (also dr Lynch on youtube) and dr Chris Masterjohn on YT. Take care.
Taking NAC or the less absorbable pure glutathione supplement? If second, look up NAC, more harmless and cheaper to supplement, and as precursor to glutathione NAC is better to take than the pure thing when it comes to absorption & bioavailibility and also toxicity (heard several people saying excesss glutathione supplementation being possibly toxic, but got nothing backing it up, absorption wise NAC is still a better supplement )

Glutathione isnt something thatâs good to take as supplement. Look at NAC thatâs the precursor for glutathione instead, pure glutathione has low bioavailibility and can be toxic in high doses if I remember correctly, whilst NAC has high uptake and your body transforms it into glutathione thats available for the cells and neurotransmitters.

Glutathione is NOT a vitamin, it's a tripeptide-i.e., a tiny protein-composed of three amino acids: cysteine, glycine, and glutamic acid (or glutamate). Often called the âmasterâ antioxidant, glutathione boosts the utilization and recycling of other antioxidants, namely vitamins C and E, and alpha-lipoic acid and CoQ10.
Glutathione isn't a vitamin but protein components in a layman's language leaving the chemistry aspect.

@@aurasensor Grounding can easily be done walking barefoot on the ground. Not decking or concrete. Dirt ,sand ,clay ,whatever as long as it is earth grounding. If you live near the ocean or a body of water then walk the waters edge. Give it a try. Supposed to help with inflammation.
As a Muslim, I pray five times a day, stand barefoot, and put my forehead, palms, knees and toes on the ground ATLEAST 48 times a day, from pre-dawn to night, if I want, I can do as much more as I wish. Besides being spiritually rewarding and satisfying, it is extremely beneficial for the body too. It is amazing how science and research is proving our beliefs to be in perfect harmony with nature. Not to mention fasting atleast a month every year plus two voluntary fasts every week and three every month. Keeps your mind, body and soul on track, and science is proving it all đ

when i look up glutathione biosynthesis, itâs made from cysteine and all the sulfur is in the cysteine. thereâs no sulforaphane involved in glutathione synthesis. so i donât understand how eating cruciferous vegetables would help.

can you explain the role of man made pollution and also over exposure to cellular radiation (as one of many possible immune lowering exposures) in wiping out Glutathione in the lungs and in face what role that might have in the face of current co-vid type illnesses that might appear as flu like symptoms?

Milk Thistle extract (standardized extract 80% silymarin). Taken w/o water after meals or between meals ,silymarin is very poorly soluble in water . can be taken with oil
