Wow! What a great video series. The videos were a great help in allowing me to rebuild my 1973 T-B Horse (Old Rusty). I can't wait till spring gets here, and be able to use it in my garden. Thanks for the great info.

Correction: the second shifter that you removed is the Speed shifter. I like the way you put every bolt back where you took it out. That is a good practice. You don't end up with a bowl of bolts wondering what goes where on the machine.

No need to remove the phenolic ball on the depth adjuster bar. Pull the bolt out of the drag bar and lift the depth adjuster bar straight up and out of the bracket.

I am in desperate need of parts for my 1975 horse troybuilt. After an extensive search for both the serial number and model number, I can not locate. I need an array of trans parts, brass gear, seals, gaskets, shims, etc... any help you can provide will be a tremendous help

Is it a Horse I or II model? I've got a Horse III model.. this link may be helpful, the moderator seems to have parts availability.
Let me know, as we're all in it together for OEM or aftermarket parts lol.

Thanks for the upload. I know it’ll be handy when the time comes. Question: When I finished tilling some today I noticed maybe a half oz. of transmission oil coming from under the reverse spring and plunger. I’ve never seen that before and since it was getting dark I put her up for the night. Hope it’s nuthin serious 🤞🏼

How do I center the wheel shaft? I also had the same corrosion on the worm gear shaft like water had entered the transmission. I think water enters through the T handle above it. I plan to place a goog glob of grease to seal or a rubber washer when I put the T handle back on.

I have a 1979 Troy-bilt horse tiller and the belt sometimes gets stuck but starts moving again after I need to lift the till. It seems like its sensitive to the pressure being applied or density of soil. Any recommendations as to what I can do? Also, I live in NY on Long Island and have taken my tiller in for repair to several local mechanics that work on the Troy-bilt tiller but have not been successful with repairing this issue, was curious if anyone knew of any specific mechanics that could repair this issue.

    • @KySilverfish

Is it an OEM belt? Are the top and bottom pulleys in alignment (properly shimmed?). Rust in the pulley grooves? Tensioner properly adjusted and proper spring?

    • @johngburtonbudzinski7608

they are drive bolts, let out the bolt that tightens and then drive em through with force downward. few seconds a side with an impact driver.

I use a product in a spray an called Zep45. It's a fast acting penetrating oil and rust remover. You have 5/16 bolts locking the pins and you have to unscrew them or you will never move the pins. Sanding and wire brush on a drill help. I'm guessing your problem is over one way or another but maybe this helps others.

I wish if they're going to make a video they would shut the radio the music off I can't even hear what he's saying as it is. I don't understand why people make videos and then they play loud music over the video, it doesn't make any sense to me but I'm a little hard of hearing. I can understand this guy. I wish you would turn his radio up and not talk or turn the radio off and talk a little louder so I can hear him. I'm working on a Troy-Bilt and this video is no help at all because I can't hear what he is saying, and I can't hear the music either. I wish they would do one or the play the radio or talk but not both at the same time. Big thumbs down on this video.
