Hi yall, I'm Turbinedoctor. I am just a regular guy who likes to tinker and fix things. View my videos and you will see I like to repair and rebuild old things, play in the garden, shoot and work on some guns, fishing, machining and even reload ammo. I have lots of different interests that some of you may share and I would like to share with you. If you see a video you like rate it and comment. Pull up a chair and lets see what we can get into next. Thanks for watching.

I am working on a load for my .38 Spl for target practice. Some things I thought you might like to know.
21 dollars for a brand new fiber disc, just bought one today
i have been watching your videos for 10 years minimum, today i subscribed finally. your videos and knowledge are amazing. just had an issue with my tiller a horse 3 i believe. i wonder if i can ask a question. Thank You!
I don't know if you're still 9:16 using your older Troybilt rototiller or not but if you're still helping people, I have some questions for you. We have an older machine which looks about the same year as yours. Even has the same tires. No one has been able to tell me what year ours is. My folks bought this one and I'm thinking it could be around a 1972 or 73. So in watching your videos I decided to teart into this thing. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't have these videos to guide me. Well I think I've hit a snag. When I took the tine assembly apart, there were some rollers from a roller bearing in there. After pulling the cap off the back end I found where they'd come from. The rear bearing for the drive shaft was completely disintegrated. I was looking at the very end of the driveshaft and it looks to me like there is some of it missing. Like it broke off. The brass worm gear was pretty chewed up and there were thousands of brass shavings mixed in with the sludge in the bottom of the tine shaft housing. I can't seem to find a driveshaft for this old of a machine. Do you have any contacts who might have one? I'd really appreciate it.
IKNOW THESE VIDEOS WERE DONE A LONG TIME AGO BUT I'M WONDERING IF YOU'RE STILL AROUND TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THESE TILLERS.
I am working on my 1977 horse model. I like the details that you are sharing with me. Thanks for these videos. They will help me as I work on my troy tiller. Paul
Where can I find manual for my hose Troy bilt. Thanks for the video.
what is the diameter of the rubber reverse drive..My HOMCO is missing this..trying to fix it..Thanks
The seals i received are 0.83 " vs a 1 " shaft that cant be right can it. I can not get it started on the shaft
Really like the way you are doing it
I like the results type video.
the brass bushing has two notches that go inwards , so when they are all the way in to hold the gears in place the oil can get into the bushing and lub the shaft
I just got a Troy bilt horse from a friend of mine. It made a rattling noise when the tines hit the dirt. I noticed the main shaft moves back and forth almost a half inch! Your videos will be very helpful when I dig into this unit. THANKS!!
I prefer the long version videos with much detail.
How do I center the wheel shaft? I also had the same corrosion on the worm gear shaft like water had entered the transmission. I think water enters through the T handle above it. I plan to place a goog glob of grease to seal or a rubber washer when I put the T handle back on.
I most enjoyed watching the whole step by step and the whole process and especially your comments and thoughts on this video, you don’t know how much this helps if you don’t have a manual, great job brother. Best wishes in the future farming, I’m 63years of age and still trying to put a garden every year and right now my Trojan, Troy horse is still going , I’m a dyi guy myself, always have been but knowledge is everything to a working man. Thanks again, will continue watching your videos too, take care your feller.🙏👍
What axle seals did you use to substitute the original ones
Where did you get the 160 page trans manual at ? I'm trying to figure out how to remove the tine shaft bearing race on the side with no bolt on cover and there is no lip to tap it out ?
So much better designed and built than the new cheap tillers.
I'm watching this for the first time in 2023. You ask at the time what you could do while editing to improve the content. My thoughts on that are for repetitive operations do a fast forward after the first few frames explain what the procedure is. I am doing a complete teardown for a friend's machine and this may save me from getting in over my head. Thank you
It's a 1974 from a serial number list I found on line.
I have a horse that's making alot of noise while under a load tilling.. the front lower pulley has almost 1/2 inch of slop back and forth.Any ideas what it could be? It doesn't want to keep tilling it's like somethings slipping.
Thanks for the vids, I started off with just replacing the engine then noticed slop in the trans shaft so I removed the front bearing and the slop was still there and pulled the shaft out and the end bearing fell apart so I had to get another bearing so now I'm waiting for them in the mail
Mine is doing the exact same thing.I had ordered a new front seal because it was leaking gear oil and I noticed alot of slop.I can push or pull the shaft about a 1/2 inch..I may need to do the same thing as you I will be tearing into it tomorrow..Do you mind telling me the parts you ordered? Thanks
I have a 8hp horse that no longer has forward or reverse. It only free wheels. This started after it got away and was running downhill at a tree. I ran after it and slapped it out of gear and it locked up immediately. Now I can't get the high and low lever to engage into drive. Suggestions?
Awesome info! Thanks for taking the time to film all this.
the brass gears in trans and rear axle are made that way, they look worn but most are not
I just ordered a seal and gasket kit for a model two, it's leaking a little at point where rod for clutch goes into housing, what's the process for replacing, orings while its assembled. Thanks
My Mechanic Dad put some STP in it and 90/140 gear oil back in 1970 and I drain and refilled it with Lukas hub oil and 90/140 gear oil, it looked like new inside box
Thanks for the great detail in all 3 of your vids..really helpful here with my 7hp horse unknown year but needs tines, tine shaft seals and the front tranny seal..the video is 9 years old now so I suspect you have a decent battery impact by now..if not even one of the lower priced ones would save you a lot of time and effort..the best ones are really amazing now..
I didn't realize all these comments were here. I did buy a replacement battery but it's not enough to crank. So I brought a bigger battery really didn't cost very much but I haven't installed it
what book are you using for the teardown?
Thanks
Needs more lighting
So you didn't show the big pin removal which is the hardest part of the operation on tillers left out in the weather due to them rusting. I have three troybilts and they all had stuck pins
That's where I'm at now. Any suggestion on how to get them out?
The one you’re removeing is it not the brake
Did you not just take off the forward and reverse bar
Seriously...a three foot pipe is overkill😂 Seal drivers can be made from anything but deep well sockets work well sometimes. Pipe is another, but three foot is not usually necessary 😜
fyi...when playing with shims use the combination of the fewest shims and install the smaller shims on the boss(case) side. 😉
That's what I was waiting for you to do. Install shims and snap rings. I thought I missed something in the last part...phew😏

I would rather see the hands on long versions. Step by step, I'm looking at 3-4 different tillers trying to decide if they are worth the cost of parts to repair them. One has destroyed the tiller worm gear and shaft due to water and dirt intrusion. Over $400 in parts alone unfortunately it's the newest of all of them I am looking at. I'm wondering if there is a seal between the tiller gears and the transmission gears to keep the dirt and water from getting to the transmission? Thanks for sharing.
Where would I find a manual like you have? Thanks I'm about to check my rear gear and the seal is shot... It stopped moving forward and I noticed oil coming out from the seal..Hoping it was just low on oil and that the gear is ok.
Thank you..I just bought a horse and Installed a new motor now it's time to do all the seals. Thank you sir.
sweet music
I wish if they're going to make a video they would shut the radio the music off I can't even hear what he's saying as it is. I don't understand why people make videos and then they play loud music over the video, it doesn't make any sense to me but I'm a little hard of hearing. I can understand this guy. I wish you would turn his radio up and not talk or turn the radio off and talk a little louder so I can hear him. I'm working on a Troy-Bilt and this video is no help at all because I can't hear what he is saying, and I can't hear the music either. I wish they would do one or the play the radio or talk but not both at the same time. Big thumbs down on this video.
Real nice videos & appreciate you making them but I was hoping to see how you filled the transmission? I replaced a tine seal & really wanted to see how someone else re-filled the tranny to make sure I don't burn the tine gears up. Can I just fill the tranny to it's side plug & assume the tine gears will get what they need? I have a 1982 Horse 6 HP that was my dad's & really want to take care of it but there isn't a lot of info on stuff like this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Could you share the transmission manual you referenced in this video?
This was a nice series. I have an 85 Horse model that still runs like new, but is weeping some oil from the gear case. Not enough yet to warrant rebuilding, but it is nice to know what is involved. It seems this channel has been dormant for 6 years so I hope the author hasn’t left youtube or had health issues.
It seems like you could use a little Loctite to hold the key on so it doesn’t fall out like that.
I’ve found that heating a case with a heat gun for a few minutes helps a lot when installing bushings and bearing races.
I have to chuckle that TroyBilt calls a gear shifter a clutch.
Hey thanks for posting this video buddy .
I have a question about the connection between the drive shaft outer tube and the rear tine shaft assembly. Are they threaded together or spot welded. Mine is separated and I don't see how they are connected and I have a 1" gap between the tube and spline assembly. The part I am referring to can be seen at 8:40, it looks like I see threads as well as two spot welds?
