"A cheap shot is still a shot" is now my life motto.
Closely followed by "You have to help people. And then you stab!"
I won the game - and the nose is supposed to be inescapeable; the card says you CANNOT run away. THAT was cheap.
Atlas Horne Cheating is literally in covered in the rule book. Lol. Love this game.
The energy of that man is great
SAME THO
"Oh god, I fell asleep while you were talking." Sandeep has the best comebacks!
I fell asleep watching this whole dang video.
Sandeep may not be the Biggest Munchkin, but he is The Burninator.
"Why are you doing that? Why are you giving her the game? I will slash your tires."
Yeah, but he had the worse luck; I feel bad for him
I think this was the only great comedic line in the whole video😂
"It's not all stabbing, you have to help people. THEN you stab them"
I was laughing
So hard
XDDD
+-Diopoly- Finish your picture says otherwise lol
Yes true...
Munchkin in a nutshell.
Then you being them back to life to kill them again
😂
Felicia: "People may not target me because I'm cute"
SHIT! SHE'S ONTO US!
Felicia you are totally cute.
I fall in love in Felicia Day long time ago - she is beautiful, cute and play board games. What more can you expect?
...
SHUT IT DOWN!
*Takes pill and falls alseep*
*Snores loudly*
2012: "She's playing the hot girl in leather armor to make us think she's cute!"
My gaydar: *beep boop beep boop*
2018: Surprise! She was doing it because she thought the redhead in the leather armor was cute.
My gaydar: "Yup"
To the people who correctly spotted that Steve messed up a calculation deliberately to win the game and therefor cheated, let me quote this from the rulebook:
"It's not cheating unless you get caught:" Steve didn't cheat because he wasn't caught cheating. That's actually part of the rules.
Could you please tell me exactly where does officially this says? I'm sorry for asking you, but I am unable to find that rule ANYWHERE (not even on the official page). I am sincerely hoping you could and do tell me were I can find such rule, thank you :)
***** You know, I fucking raged at the time I asked that question xD, to think ACTUALLY someone is trying to search that rule, I really feel more relieved, I really thank you very much :)
gimubatulo Yeah my uncle had bought the game for his friends to play with him, and it had always been hilarious to have his kids come up and ask him about the cards he "dropped in his shoe." I have never played the game myself however, so I'm confused as well with you there. It seems like a fun game though :)
Cheating isn't in the rules because it is a contradiction. Cheating is doing something that is contrary to the rules so if an actual rule said you can cheat and you fed it into a Star Trek computer on an obscure alien planet the computer would explode. That line is just a joke, not a rule.
It certainly was in the rules of the original game. I think it was mentioned in the discarding cards section.
"Clearly he has to create games to win 'em!" - Sandeep Parikh
Perfection.
Wil: "Felecia cares about how her character *looks* more than actual strategy"
Felecia: literally double Wil's combat level
for the people pointing out the mistakes on the rules, rule 1 of munchkin, cheating is allowed if you dont get caught
Is this true?
it absolutely is, half the fun of the game is cheating by using stuff you shouldt be able to use but creating confusion so no one realizes it
my friend steals cards when we play
This is not in the rule book anywhere... however this one is " Only one player can help you, adding his combat strength to yours." I have looked at many of the rule books in many different versions, and I have never seen the "cheating is ok" rule in the deluxe version of the game, it was taken out sometime in 2010 because people thought it was unfair... As I watch through these tabletops I am reminded of how dumb steve jackson is, he brought us a great game but the he doesn't even know how to play the updated version correctly. Now the second issue is basically just with everyone having a brain fart when he was counting his winning battle total, they played the potions all wrong... so if you start where he is at 30 and the monster is at 18, sandeep plays a +5 making the monster 23, then felicia backstabs taking Steve down to "28", then she plays a +5 potion making the monster 28..., but they continue on anyway and he wins because he is "one level ahead" sure he might have had a card to add to the number but i'm guessing since he didn't play it to be that much more ahead, he didn't have one and the game would have continued.... the math is there, either way you do it, they are tied
It's possible that it's a house rule.
I laughed harder than I should have after Steve said, "I know Muchkin pretty well...since I WROTE IT."
Good episode :)
I'm very surprised nobody caught his absolute cheat at the end. Doppelganger can only be used when you fight alone, with Felicia there he technically couldn't use it. but if you aren't cheating, you aren't trying.
@@demonman2047 I almost think the same but Felicia wasn't helping him, she refused his offer
Wow, I miss Table-Top so much!
❤️❤️❤️
Me too! Would be awesome if he could do another season, especially since there has been some cool new games. This episode is still my Fav.
Same tabletop was great :) was looking forward for each episode. Cant believe how fast the time has passed
Over 11 years ago, and.............this is still my favourite clip of playing Munchkin! I never get tired of watching it! Combination of an excellent game and awesome fun people playing it. Final backside licking comment, thank you so much for designing this brilliant game Steve Jackson.😉👑
"Oh, god I fell asleep while you were talking."
-Sandeep Parikh, 2012
+Ludic Gamer Best quote of the episode despite some jewels by S. Jackson.
+Ludic Gamer That was the best hahaha
I don't know why I find it so entertaining watching a group of four people play board games but I do.
Inklan Utterfield and I wish there were more videos on CZcams of people doing this
Me too. I could watch these guys play RPG or board games for hours on end.
This remains one of the best episodes of TableTop.
My friends just introduced my wife and I to this game. LOVE IT! We lost it when my friend misread the "Harpies" card as "Herpes". LOL
This game ruins more friendships than uno
Or monopoly
+Funny Fantom or mario kart
+Superblobby Have you played diplomacy yet?
+Superblobby Also Mario Party
+Funyouvcwerny Fantom
I just love imagining if people roleplayed Munchkin.
Felicia: Alright, thanks to the help of Sandeep we can definitely win this battle.
Steve: ... oh shit, the duck just pulled out a bunch of balloons. RUUUUNNNN!
Theres a rulebook for that
That is amazing. I cannot believe Steve Jackson himself came on Tabletop to play Munchkin!
"You have to help people...and THEN you stab them." Words to live by.
"Steve owns the game, so he's probably the best at it"
Pegasus: *cries
I want them to do more munchkin, it's such a good game :)
They should do Munchkin Quest, the board game version that has new mechanics, or add the dungeons expansion to munchkin and try for Epic lvl.
Rhin Forti Yeah :) I'd watch it :D
Rhin Forti
I agree. Geek & Sundry should definitely do a follow-up with Munchkin Quest in season 3 :D
I would definitely watch!
"I think the Euphonium is the sexiest instrument" -Felicia Day.
YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT IT'S THE SEXIEST INSTRUMENT!
Umm bass guitar with all it's fingerings.
xQMA I’ve never felt more proud as a euphonium player in my life.
@@analogbug16 me too!!!!
I've been saying this for years.
Why do trombone players make the best lovers?
...
...
...
Cuz they do it in 7 positions, plus alternates.
“Day 42: Level 2 is... starting to eat at my soul.” Love that moment, but poor fella.
Welp, I'm buying this game
The Flash Have fun being bored!
luke parsons I think you mean *board
holderoftheheart pwned him
holderoftheheart Fucking Rekt
The Flash Just bought it on amazon, just because this video made me wanna play it.
Best line: "that chip is being put into a build-a-bears all over the county..."
Still entertaing more than 10 years later!
I forgot how good this show is. I'm glad it popped up on my feed again
Sandeep at the beginning: I'm feeling Good
Sandeep at the rest of the game: WWWWHHHHHYYYYY
I think steve forgot to "steal" the treasure when running from the monsters since he had that item that allowed him to do that
Yes, he sure did.
I noticed this as well only because he was bragging about his card then did not use it to his max potential...
As a Euphonium (Baritone Horn) player, I like this episode.
Mark Kramer same
High five bro!
Same
Huzzah!
Felicia is that kind of girl you have to love.
He won his own game...that is awesome. never the less great episode
I need another episode of Munchkin, it was really cool! Please make a new one!
This,,was an amazing, probably the best table top episode. So strategic, and entertaining! Can't wait for season three
I miss tabletop!
That board is really cool. But the ghetto non-deluxe scoring system of stacking up pennies really adds to the ambiance.
Aww poor Sandeep! I just had my first Munchkin play and I was in the same boat--I kept drawing curses. There should be some sort of rule mod that if you collect x number of curse cards you can redeem them for something.
+Jessica Heiden you can play curses on other people if you drew them from looting the room.
"It's not all stabbing. You have to help people. And THEN you stab them." - Steve Jackson
I love this game. My sister got it for her birthday a couple years ago and since then we've gotten a couple of the versions other than the original and it's a lot of fun to play with a group of people. Dad pretty much always wins though. What usually happens is someone is about to win and everyone else uses up all their cards trying to keep them from winning and then has no cards to prevent the next person who is level 9 (since usually 2 people end up lvl 9 at the same time when we play) from winning.
"He has to create game to win them." Love it!
Just started playing and love it
Oohh that reminded me of that one Halloween in Bochum, Germany, a few years ago! We were visiting a good friend and instead of having the creepiest night ever as we planned, we ended up playing Munchkin all night in our costumes. My friend was an elf bard and actually sang everything he said, my other friend was a thief and whispered all the time because we wanted to stay 'in character'. And I, the usually calmest with the most quiet voice of all, of *course* was a troll and had to growl everything I wanted to say. It was so hilarious. I couldn't have asked for more! I now feel the urgent need to get a hold of this game and find someone to play with me.
Sometimes I don't realise what great times I've already had in life... Thank you SO much for reminding me!
Kuddos to the videomaker who made the subscribe button appear when Felicia was doing her extra cute routine. Well played.
Timestamp? Asking for a friend.
So nice to see Steve! Loved his games in the 90s! Car Wars! Woop woop!
I love Munchkin, one of my favorite games EVER.
Danke schön Herr Jackson :)
Sandeep is hilarious!
I pride myself in having won a round with 6 or so friends, who all ganged up on me and threw in monster after monster and bonuses for them and I had such an awesome hand, I still won and with that the whole game 😆 one of my finer moments
My friend introduced this game to me this winter break, and I loved it! Can't wait to play it again.
Holy crap! Stands up to the test of time. Thanks, Wil! Great episode.
Thank you so much for showing the rules. I just picked up Munchkin because of watching this show.
I watched this when I was just becoming a freshman in high school. I became obsessed with munchkin because of this video. I met Wil and Felicia at a con that same year as an awkward 15 year old. I saw this video in my recommended and was instantly brought back. I graduated college and am now working full time in the middle of a global pandemic. I haven't been able to see any of my friends and just want to play a board game without thinking about the stresses of life. I missed the feelings and memories that this video gave me for the short time it played. I hope Wil is able to reboot this show in the future.
This is one of my favorite episodes of Table Top. Very funny and warm and fun. Plus, I desperately want to play a game with Felicia Day. And I now want to go out and buy Munchkin.
I like the confidence that Steve has in general.
I bought this game because of this..... thanks! it's pretty awesome.
I'm literally doing the same thing as we speak.
Steve played the "kill the hireling" card at 23:06 but didn't read the rules. There were no hirelings in play. YOU MADE THE GAME! >.< WHY YOU BREAK?
But showcasing a game like this is great for people who haven't heard about it.
A former flat mate introduced this to me and i got the axe cop set straight away!
Watching this series is a great way to learn about all these different games.... and go out and buy them lol .
How cool is it to have played the game with the man who WROTE THE GAME!!??!?
"Hi, I'm Sandeep, I'm really attractive and normal."
I know how I"m introducing myself from now on.
"Oh God, I fell asleep while you were talking."
Höhöhö :D
I love Munchkin. And this was a great episode.
This is the first game Tabletop inspired me to buy. I have since gotten several others. Thanks Felicia and Will!
14:09 I guess Steve wasn't 'even reading his card' either, or else he wouldn't taken the treasure after his successful escape.
ps. I want to get the Adventure Time version of this game, so I was excited to watch. Great video by the way....game play and description (how to play) were great as always. Thanks
Im watching this cause Im getting this game for christmas and Im soooo excited to play it!
Just love this show
The scoreboard song is the best thing in the world
So.. Anybody else noticed at the end that steve says 'I'm speechless! ' and then proceeds to speak in Literal 0 volume to prove his speechlessness??
I played this game yesterday, had an absolute blast!
Ran a game of Car Wars for Steve Jackson at Origins 82. Got his, and Aaron Alston's autographs on the complete pocket set of rules for Car Wars too. Ahh the memories!
I clicked this video expecting a ragtag bunch of dudes in a basement with a phone camera.
Instead I got Wheaton in the first seconds of the video.
I am impressed
You are in for hours of fun, there are many more episodes of Tabletop with different, in my opinion allot off fun to watch.
GraVeu How did you not know he was in this video before clicking on it? He's in the thumbnail.
guys, in munchkin, cheating is legitimate unless caught
So it trains you for government work, then.
unless you draw the cheat card.
yep, when you have that, you can cheat openly.
Donavon Ho It actually isn't. There was a joke about it in the early versions on the rule book. It was later removed because people took it seriously.
bromixsr Or Wall Street actually no, even if you're caught you get at most a slap on the hands and basically keep all the benefits
Felicia days has quite the immersion with this game. I can't image actually picturing myself wearing the monster gear.
Sandeep was so funny! He was great and I liked the way he interacted with Felicia😂
I really wish they'd play another game of Munchkin on Tabletop but with one of the different decks that enhances the game. Like the Superhero or Zombies one.
Ok, I'm commenting before actually watching the video to avoid spoilers: go, Felicia, my bets are on you!
Love that munchkin referenced opening!
You will see who your friends are. Usually not the people around you. This quote is so true
Will: Now I need the trophy back, because it's a low budget show. But here's the tape with your name on it.
Steve: I'm speechless.
Will: As you should be.
Lmao!😂😂😂
I feel like im the only one who only knows felicia from Supernatural
dartzu You're not. She's been in a bunch of stuff. Also, you have to remember this video came out 2 years ago.
dartzu I do too
Peter Townsend 3 years ago*
dartzu
try "The Guild" and "Doctor Horrible's Sing Along Blog"
also, She just died-died on Supernatural
inb4 Spoiler Alert
The Civilized Mercenary doctor horribles made Joss Weadon more than Avengers. Supernatural is WB garbage though.
Just rewatched this episode after 4 years and it just made me wanna play a round of munchkin again, and i will tomorrow. This Episode made me play the game in the first place. Thx for this awsome show mr. Will wheaton.
I did not know until today that this was the most extended episode requested and searched for.
Did the creator of the game forget about his tuba bonus treasure?
TheDieThrower Hahaha
TheDieThrower nahh he was just taking it easy on the mortals
TheDieThrower he also forgot that you can't run from the Floating Nose
David Staff nah he was just being a munchkin.
David Staff Why can't you? It doesn't say that on the card.
"You have to help people.... THEN STAB THEM!"
22:23, this never gets old, especially sandeep's retort...lol
I’m back. After all these years... I still love it.
I can't get tired of Felicia. She's sooooooooo adorably evil.
Remember when Geek & Sundry uploaded decent content.
I really wish this show would return!
Wow, Steve Jackson! much respect, thanks for all the games :)
Of course he would win the game. HE MADE IT!!!
So because he made it he draws better?
Sammy Rigdon IV The powers of the Creator are strong. (It's sarcasm, BTW)
THE Retro Gamer 9000 and that is the problem with sarcasm. It's so hard to convey through text alone. However after finishing the video (i was comment surfing while waiting for it to buffer) i believe he has special creator magic that allowed him to win
Sammy Rigdon IV Indeed. I myself have played Munchkin, and have failed miserably.
+Sammy Rigdon IV
We need a suitable font, Sarcasm Bold Condensed, perhaps? Or a sarcasticon?
THIS WAS NOT THE STEVE JACKSON I WAS LOOKING FOR....
'Steve Jackson is often mistaken for Steve Jackson, a British gamebook and video game writer who co-founded Games Workshop. The confusion is exacerbated by the fact that while the UK Jackson was co-creator of the Fighting Fantasy gamebook series, the US Jackson also wrote three books in this series (Scorpion Swamp, Demons of the Deep, and Robot Commando), and the books did not acknowledge that this was a different 'Steve Jackson''
My bwain hurts.
This is so helpful to understand the game 😊
Steve is an awesome dude this was fun to watch
I like Steve. He gives off a real gentlemanly vibe.
Felicia Day, you are incredibly cute, as if you didn't know. By the way, the werewolf movie on Syfy, surprisingly good for that network.
That was such a wicked burn on Wil by Sandeep! OMFG!
I soooooooooo enjoyed this thank you
even if Felicia helped in that final turn she wouldn't have won because you can only reach level 10 through gaining a monster level and i am assuming assist levels are not monster beating levels.
Actually, there are three ways to reach level 10. Beat a monster, be an Elf and assist to level 10, or be a cleric and receive the card "Divine Intervention", which can give you the winning level
Chase Wilson Surely it is. Elf card doesn't signify otherwise?
Chase Wilson Oh man!! So she would have been cheated by Steve?? That's so meeeaaann! :D Nothing less expected from the inventor himself :D
But he won anyway ^^
+Kaleb Levermore-Rich I can't argue this. I own pathfinder munchkin, and that one specifically says you can only hit level 10 via monster kill, but I don't know about the base game
Wait- what's Zojja from GW2 doing in this??
3:18 Steve Jackson: "Well, I know Munchkin pretty well, because I wrote it." lol
Schönes Video Will! Hab mir Munchkin nun auch zugelegt. Vielen dank für die Einführung in dieses großartige Spiel. Greetings from Germany
