I like how no one is playing the game the same way.
Duke is playing an action movie
Zukoff is playing an adventure
And Shelly is playing a comedy
Bakorafanboy13 The french guy is playing a horror movie where he is the murderer, rip Mike the Mechanic.
Brandon may have been known for Superman at the time of filming, but he is definitely a better Atom.
Yeah but he's responsible for one of the most iconic superman scenes where a bullet ricochets of his eye
+Bob jones yes, agreed,
Blow that noise, Bloody Shaw
hippybullshit yup
its funnier after watching crisis on earth x
Regarding all the comments about the "Disclaimer" at the beginning of the video:
This warning is actually printed in the game manual. They tweaked the ending to reference TableTop and CZcams; the actual manual reads: "If you find this material strongly objectionable it is our recommendation that you do not use this product. Please game responsibly." Other than that, what they've prefaced the video with is practically word-for-word the same advisory printed in the actual game manual itself.
That disclaimer is BS in a sense that everybody should be aware of what has happened in history and not be freaked about it. If you don't know the history you're going to repeat it. And today it seems that US is sliding in facism and it may be because half of the population has put hands on their ears and singing la-la-la I can't hear you.
I feel like Brandon should receive some sort of runner-up prize for being the one to Superman-punch so many Nazis.
Sorry, when you're Superman, you don't get extra rewards for punching Nazis. It's just expected of you.
@@roguishpaladin Punching Nazis IS its own reward.
He was also 2nd place, so it works.
"I breed mole rats and I live in a rainbow castle made of starfish skeletons."
This is how I want to introduce myself.
This is by far the most beautiful Table Top episode I've ever seen. Felicia cunning until the end, still found a way to get back at her brother. I love it!
I loved everything about this, the bad accents, the adventure, the toned men flexing their arms, Wil managing to win.
I have no notes, only praise.
Wil,
You didn't mess up AS LONG AS you all had fun. Good episode!
"Deliver it to the nearest brick wall."
Split second later: Cut to tabletop set in front of its brick wall.
@fishinabarrel I have no recollection of that incident and cannot recall a time I've ever behaved in the manner you describe. If I inadvertently did something to make you feel bad I sincerely apologize. That pains me to hear. Sometimes I'm under a lot of pressure and if we were filming you may have just caught me at a bad time. Also I have encountered abusive paparazzi trying to get things signed in the past and went through a period I was very gunshy with people approaching me for autographs. So anyway, there you have it.
I try to remember that when a waitress delivers bad service, or someone is rude to me...maybe they're having the worst day that month, that year. Maybe they're hungover, or their kid is home sick, or they got an upsetting phonecall just before I encountered them. A celebrity isn't necessarily different, and you can't point to an encounter where you were very excited to meet them...but for them, it was Thursday. No one can be ON all the time. Having said that, I have met Ms. Day. She was awesome.
I'm trying to imagine what life's like having to be awesome every day to everybody you meet. Conclusion: Gets old fast.
I miss Dr Hannah...
You're sweet to reply Felicia but I don't think you owe anyone an explanation, I say just go ahead and pimp-slap people who approach you from now on, most fans will react positively anyway.
"One time Felicia Day pimp slapped me . . . .it was AWESOME."
I am part of the dr Hannah dislike club and I wanted to explain to the person what may have happened.
I have met people before and they seemed to behave a certain way, however, there's often 2-3 ways to take reactions. (Trust me I'm in therapy I know this). A look or reaction may seem one way but could mean something totally different. There's enough haters out there saying not so nice things to Felicia to keep her from becoming the person she appeared to be to you. and now I must go since my cat won't stop jumping into my lap.
I love the fact that Ryon and Felicia look the exactly same when they laugh or smile.
I've always wondered if they're fraternal twins.
i've always wanted to see their parents to see which genes they take after the most.
I'd watch a film with Brandon Routh playing Duke Dudley as the protaganist
meeee toooo
We need more action adventures like that.
I mind-blanked on the name of his character in this and thought you wrote Dudley-Do-Right, and honestly that could work too (though I'm not sure it would adapt well).
@@roguishpaladin The adaptation got 16% on rotten tomatoes
Brandon even says during the game "I always do right." but I think the other placers just missed the reference.
TIME FOR AN ADVENTUROUS #TABLETOP! With brandon routh, Felicia Day, ***** & *****!
What adventure quest game would you recommend for a group?
Said it before and I'll say it again: Arabian Nights.
Wow, long episode. Nice.
Talisman!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ingress! hehe
That's a huge frickin game box!
I really want an isolated story about Duke Dudely
It would probably be more of an action than an adventure, but it just seems cool.
Really hoping for an extended cut of this episode. Felicia, Ryon and Brandon were HILARIOUS together!
"Sibling rivalry works out for Wil Wheaton" That'd be a good shirt.
"It's better for me to do that than going after the treasure, because I get to roll more dice."
Certainly Brandon is approaching this, and any other game involving dice, with the right attitude. :D
So Will basically got the infinity gauntlet and sold it to a guy in shanghai named walt...
***** and only got $7 for it...
@@doctordeceit2839 No, he got 7 *fortune*. I imagine 1 Fortune is several thousand dollars.
This was an adorable and fun episode, and while I dread reading the rules and finding out just how differently the game plays, I still think I want to buy it. Not only does it sound like an awful lot of fun to play, I really like that you can play it cooperatively, competitively, or both!
this game was amazing ! there totally should be an extended version of this!
HAHAHAAHA the goggles, they do nothing. Didn't see that coming, that was good. Coffee all over my keyboard, ***** , you owe me a keyboard.
Superman punching Nazis. How very Golden Age of you.
By the way, the 1930s serial voiceovers were incredible. Does anybody know what filter they put on the audio to get that effect?
My best guess is a series of plug-ins and not just one filter. EQ would do most of the work.
After posting the comment I did some experimenting with Adobe Audition. Short version: drop the lows and highs on the EQ, bump the mids, compress, add slight reverb, voilà!
Yes, it reflects the limited responses of speakers/mics of the period
Chris Wood
Mister Wheaton, your series is simply entertaining. I always get a good laugh watching these. Props for bringing Rhett and Link on, they brought me to this awesome show. Keep up the good work.
aaaaawwwwwwwww....I loved that sweet moment at the end between the two of you.
It was fun to see the sibling banter between Ryan and Felicia.
14:55
Well there's a perfectly reasonable explanation in that he's a doctor of Science not archeology.
Darnit, Jim, he's a doctor, not Indiana Jones!
Geek & Sundry hi
Kudos guys for your honesty in the rules mistakes. Right call to still publish :)
Right off the bat, I commend you guys on that intro. Not an issue for myself, but I admire the fact that you took it into consideration.
"It's on a banana leaf, just on the ground. It's all 'gauntlet, please do not take.' "
Ha, Doctor Zhukov is beyond your pathetic warning. Doctor Zhukov can not read in first place.
In the words of Ryon..."Let's play this fucker!!"
Love this show...thanks to your show, my kids and I have embraced gaming...we have hours of quality family time to thank you for
Love ya, Wil! You are an awesome guy and I wish you all the success that the future will bring!
49 seconds after it's posted, the best series on youtube
I always feel sorry for Brandon Routh. It seems like his career got screwed over because of Superman Returns. Granted it wasn't a great Superman movie (still better than Man of Steel) but let's face it because Bryan Singer was making a sequel to Donner's Superman 1 and 2, Routh wasn't able to put anything of himself and his abilities into the role. Instead he had to do his best impression of Christopher Reeve's Clark Kent/Superman. Something he did quite admirably in fact.
He's doing really well on Arrow now :)
Not at all, ever since then he has done amazingly for himself, scoring a large roll in chuck aswell as being a large member of the arrow cast now
Hey I loved this episode! Thank you all for all the hard work you put into it and the show!
One of my favourite board games and I wouldn't have known it existed without this episode. It's always fun to bring out, so far anyone who played it enjoyed it and there's so many stories to tell.
It even comes with a soundtrack and is really a beautiful game in all it's components. Might be the biggest game they ever played on this show when looking at the boxes at the intro.
One time in this game when I played as Duke Dudley, at the final turn I failed a cliffhanger so while my friend won the game, I went out in a flaming car.
Really a pity they never played 'A touch of evil.' on the show, I really do miss miniature games like this in later seasons. Especially the fourth season did not have many games I enjoyed, great people still but few games I'd personally want to play.
But A touch of Evil I can recommend for anyone who enjoyed this one. It's equally heavy on theme, and the theme there is colonial horror. You pick a hero to hunt down a monster threatening a colonial village, where the town elders carry secrets.
That one has one big benefit over Fortune and Glory: Less locations, but each location has it's own deck to draw from so you won't run into anything that seems out of place. No cliffhangers though.
Also with all the expansions, there's 24 heroes in total to choose from.
You didn't play it the right...... ah who am I kidding... I can't complete the sentence without breaking into a smile.
Thanks Wil for showing that playing games is NOT about following the rules but by being consistent in the way that you approach it and that the fun is in experience not adherence!
Happy to see Felicia back : ) Loved the stories!
Three of my favorite actors are on this episode!!!!! Thank you for being as nerdy as me!
i have no idea how the other three coped - brandon is so dreamy!
This is an episode that is crying out for an extended episode.
Maybe this was one of the best Episodes really. They have been many. DOnt know why the once with Felica Day is among my favorites. :-) It was a great show. Keep up the good work. And to Felicia, you should be on every episode together with Wil.. lol. Ok. maybe not... but you great. :-)
I love this show so much, Thanks Willie!
The smirk about being the kid in space = priceless. Smartass lol
"So take that comment you were about to write and direct it at a brick wall." Oh the comedic timing of the jump cut to Wil in front of a brick wall.
But seriously, I don't mind when you guys houserule. I am extremely glad that you notify us when you do houserule though. It ensures that I don't expect *that* rule set when I buy the game. :D
You did such a great job with the complex rules here I think it is time for ***** and Tabletop to embrace 'Mornington Crescent'
Will he have Samantha and Mrs Trellis as guests?
I can picture it now.
"This week on Tabletop, Graeme Garden, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Barry Cryer and myself play..."
I'd definitely be interested to see how the post-production crew handle the game-rules inserts - I don't think I've ever seen a really effective illustration of the transverse diagonals rule.
DrakeAurum i think it would come down to a decision on being in Knip or not. Then again providing you can shunt pass Dollis Hill its all pretty straight forward afterthat . Unless of course someone plays Kensington ; or worse Kensington Olympia. But you raise a good point and I think we should campaign for a fast episode segment of Mornington Crescent on Tabletop.
Nik Butler but will they be using mordens standard rules or perhaps the king George alternative ruleset from 1950
All these comments about Brandon Routh as Shaw makes me so proud as a Chuck fan. On another note, loved this episode! Now I gotta get the game!
Felicia Day is one of a handful of women you come across in your life that simply make you smile all the time.
Could not agree more. If I was granted a single wish to choose any woman on the planet to spend the rest of my life with, I'd be a toss up between Felicia Day and Jessica Nigri. As stunning as Nigri is, I think she might get on my nerves after a while. And Felicia is just a classically beautiful woman who looks good even when she's not trying. I love her.
Nah. Not much to look at or listen to there.
Wils announcer voice in this episode reminds me of Legend of Korras voice over announcer.
CloudSteele It's roughly the same aesthetic.
Korra is Diesel punk which takes place typically during or right before world war 2.
CloudSteele yesss, the only thing I could think of when he spoke
CloudSteele except this is enjoyable, while LoK isn't
"It sort of absorbs the nazi's will to live." and I'm dead. lol
Ryon looks as buff as Superman there!
Brandon is so damn handsome that it's actually kinda intimidating. And with the other three there, I dub this the most handsome episode of TapleTop ever.
For real! I was just gonna say.
"Least likeable sister"
I see what you did there.
That was that best disclosure in a video i have ever seen. well written and well done.
It's the same one from the game manual
I desperately miss this show.
im glad you still showed this episode :D
Dream Tabletop line-ups:
*Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, and Joss Whedon (playing the Firefly game)
*John Hodgman, Paul F. Tompkins, and Eugene Mirman
*Jonathan Coulton, Paul & Storm
Paul & Storm already appeared before. :P
Then again, so did Felicia, so who knows? xD
Isabella Moore Hell, this is Felicia's seventh time.
Kyle Rybski Jeeeeeeeez! xD
Yes, but with Jewel or Morena instead of Alan
Holy God, The Third One Actually Came True (Steam Park)
Felicia Day,
Do not let anyone put you down. You're an internet sensation. You're adorable and hilarious. I loved you in super natural and in life. You inspire me to be both goofy as well as nerdy. I'm a hardcore magic player and would love to see more Spell Slingers soon. That show is hilarious and Day9 is an amazing host. Thanks. Love, Ryan!
Agreed!
TY for doing these videos I didn't think anyone played board games anymore I love your videos keep them coming
As always, a very entertaining and interesting way to showcase tabletop games. Love the spirit in wich this show is done. Also, thank you for the special beefcake edition
Just came here to say that Brandon Routh was the ultimate modern Superman, and no substitute can match him!
usmh I agree! Kevin Spacey was also a fabulous Luthor. In general I don't understand the hate people had for Superman Returns; I loved it and I wish it got a little more respect.
It was way better than Man of Steel with its kryptonite plot holes.
Ian Mitchell
Nothing wrong with Routh or Spacey but the film had major problems
1)The whole Lois cuckolding Cyclops thing was very fucking bizarre and unnecessary.
2) With modern superhero films of the time like Spiderman and X-men franchises featuring good action and physical villains, Luthor as a sole antagonist just didn't cut it, Lex Luthor with a power suit is one thing, but in
3)Lifting a mountain of Kryptonite is just silly.
4)The whole "superman was missing for 5 years" premise seems silly, tries too hard to fit in with the Reeves era supermen films, doesn't fit in with the ages of the actors at all and is just distracting.
5)Suffers the same Man of steel washed out colors crap
usmh Not to mention that he is great eye candy!
Katherine Walter
Too bad guys don't do it for me. It would be cool to be into guys for just one day, to see what looks hot and what does not...
yay it always funny when Felicia days around,
Ryon and Felicia two days it must be a long weekend(public holiday)
it might not have been technically correct but it was fun to watch and i hope it was fun to play
Boy, you guys worked so hard on this episode. It totally paid off - bravo, Double-Double-You!
One of my favorites so far. I vote that you play again with the regular rules!
Loved it, also appreciated the disclaimer, still watched it because I know it isn't meant to be anything negative, just a part of the games world.
Well the disclaimer is the same one in the game manual just tweaked a little bit at the end
I don't feel like any of the players truly lost in this game, they all did awesome
Nice episode =). Hope you guys continue with this and having fun as you go.
This was one of my favorite episodes! I've got to pick this game up and get some friends together. It looks like so much fun!
XD This game looks awesome! Now if only I had some friends who were into tabletop games... O.o
"Least Likeable Sister" - considering how the game ended, that might be the most appropriate title ever for a crossed-out certificate.
Awesome show! Have bragged about it to friends. Keep up the good work.
Will - YOU ARE AWESOME! Love me some TableTop!
They need to put up an extend and uncut version of every game they play there almost more fun than the regular episodes
Never let the rulebook stand in the way of a fun game!
I loved this! The story and the sibling rivalry were delicious!!!!
I love all of you guys/girls, in every single episode! You make people feel very happy. Thank you for providing such awesome, fun entertainment :) Please keep it going, my friends!
Ryon is more jacked than Superman
Superman doesn't need muscle that's what makes him "super" lol
Poor Mike the Mechanic. Who will fix the Blue Beetle now?
That reference. I get it, and approve.
Love Fortune & Glory! Then again, I love all of Flying Frog's games!
I love this series. Please, keep up this wonderful series, guys!
Holy shit, it´s Atom!
I thought this game looked super cool and I went on amazon: $100. And there's two $55 expansions.
I wish I had more money.
I think this has been my favourite episode of TableTop yet :)
Thank you Will; I appreciated that interjection
brandon you were in my favorite tv show chuck
THAT'S HIM!?? THAT'S DANIEL!!!??
I didn't recognize him at all until I saw your comment. I feel like such a bad Chuck fan, now...
+ScytheMeister How'd you not recognise him? He looks exactly the same.
+Drawback It's been a really long time since I've actually watched Chuck. Plus, I'm bad at recognizing faces and putting names to them
Any bets on how great the gag real for this episode will be.
All these years later I still enjoy this episode. It is about telling stories, something we do.
Great episode!! Loved it! Thanks all!
3 best things about this episode:
1) Great game overall
2) Great story and loved those special voices
3) Nazi's are scary villians
p.s. Did I miss the owlbear? Also, I challenge Wil Wheaton here and now... to a game of "The Awful Green things from outer space."
The brick wall is addressing None of my concerns!
I'll keep trying but I'm starting to think it's not even listening
Best one yet imo! Great work guys!
Love this show!
I really want an extended edition
I laughed so hard watching this :D
Then I went to see what was the price tag on the game... I cried so hard.
In its defense, the game has the highest quality components I've ever seen in a game. The cards are plastic and the board and reference cards are laminate.
Yes, I'm actually considering it (but I live in south america, so I also get to pay taxes, and shipping YAY!)
Felipe Budinich
Or you could befriend someone in the states who could buy it for you there and ship it, dodging unfair taxes altogether :)
during Wil's into I couldn't help but think, "I see the boy, I knew. In the man before me" thanks for all the memories and inspiration growing up. Wil, you're still one of my heroes!
Nice video. Funny, entertaining and educational about the game somewhat. Please keep making as many as possible.
Have Ryon more often. That dude is hilarious.
Haven't finished it yet but Wil Wheaton literally just said unless something really awful happens I'm probably going to win this game and I immediately facepalmed. Lets see what happens next.
You da man Will (and Tabletop crew).
Keep em coming.
Great episode, I love this show.
