RIP Grant, he looked like someone that could become your best friend easily..
This episode was by far the best of the series and in my opinion was thanks to him.
#ripGrantImahara
RIP Grant.
RIP Grant. 2020 is really not a good year to humanity.
Grant brought me here too. This is one of my favorite Tabletop episodes and it was so good because of him. RIP Grant.
Grant brought me here too. This is one of my favorite Tabletop episodes and it was so good because of him. RIP Grant.
RIP Grant, you were one of the reason why I dove into the hobby
He had various hobbies / talents. There is a whole group of people quoting him as inspiration for going into science or engineering, you can read their accounts under various tribute videos. Whatever he was doing, he had a passion and infected others with it. In the Mythbussters show he was my favourite although I couldn't point a finger as to why. Such a loss.
I looked up this episode to send to a friend hoping to rope him in to playing this game. Completely forgot Grant was in this one (on the thumbnail no less). That dude died way too young.
Shame he was found on the toilet, kinda embarassing, but we dont pick when we die
@@ericbadder1552 What is the point in adding that to the thread? Also, How is that embarrassing or shameful? He had an aneurism, you don't pick where that happens. Embarrassing is your comment.
@@patmacrotch5611 what a joy you must be to be around
"I am in a D&D campaign right now, and I'm playing as a cleric, so maybe that's why I chose the doctor."
When she said that, Pike was still just a character in a game between friends. It would be another few months before they began airing episodes here. I doubt she even knew that her little holy gnome and her friends would become one of the most famous D&D parties of all time.
who is pike?
@@TheCarrierSG Pike is Ashley's cleric from the first capaign of Critical Role, a D&D campaign ran by Matt Mercer. They are currently airing the second campaign
It's crazy to think that before critical role pike was just another cleric and now she's literally the most famous one of any tabletop rpg campaign
@@thederpiestofderps I think jester may be more known
@@thatonebrit6736 My man Caduceus is the real cleric and everyone knows it!
This was the first thing I thought of when I heard of Grant’s news. He seemed so pleasant and I really enjoyed what he brought for all of us. RIP.
Not me, it was Mythbusters. But I came back here because this is my favorite board game of all time and I miss not being able to play is during COVID, and I forgot Grant was in this episode. Hit me like a ton on brick when Wil announced he was in this episode, I had completely forgotten that part.
"Former host of Mythbusters" I'm gunna go cry now
yeah, like "what did I miss?"
Yeah, it's sad. They let go of the entire B-team at MythBusters at the end of last season. It's back to just Adam and Jamie now.
Sergei Da Best
I just looked up the Wikipedia page.
"Since leaving Mythbusters, Imahara has become a spokesman for McDonald's acting as a "investigator" who answers people's burning question on McDonald's food. He has filmed videos on the production process of Chicken McNuggets, McRib, and McDonald's french fries."
Yep I'm going to go cry too.
Matthew Coschel
I feel like after the production of each of those McDonald's videos, he goes back to his home and looks at a framed picture of an exploding cement mixer next to his bed. He then sheds a single tear as he drifts of into sleep, where he dreams about science, Buster, and a sword-swinging robot.
William Bowles Wow, that was unexpectedly easy to imagine.
Wil at the beginning: It's a happy game!Wil at the end: I'm gonna try to convince my friends to keep talking to me.
Exactly
Ashley Johnson screaming "YES!" at the idea of killing a helpless survivor, is my spirit animal lol
Me whenever I watch a tabletop episode
*goes to Amazon to buy game*
*sees price*
*slowly closes out tab and turns off computer*
Right? I got this for my birthday and it was my only gift. XD
So worth it though. Everyone in my family loves this game.
It's not just the price though - the storage space for all of these boxes of board games is just too much.
TheOneLichemperor That's true too.
And they're not one uniform size, you've got long thin ones, you've got thick ones that are like four fifths of a foot high, so you can't just buy a shelf for them because there is a good chance there will be at least one game that doesn't fit.
It is the reason I bought Tabletop Simulator on Steam.
Then I realized I never have enough people for one game of almost anything.
My family and I just watched this the other night.. so sad to hear we have lost Grant. Rest in Peace man. You will be missed.
RIP Grant. What an inviting personality
RIP Grant Imahara. This was one of my favourite tabletop episodes and he was one of my favourite nerds. The world will miss you. Gone too soon.
"I am a fireman with a shotgun! And I am not having this!"
God I laughed so hard at this!
"Anybody else? Anybody else feeling hungry?" XD
to give an item they have to be in the same location. They forgot this rule
@@10wuebc Yes, once an item is equipped, both survivors must be at the same location to hand off equipment. But, cards found at locations go into the player's hand, they are not automatically equipped to the survivor that searched.
I was wondering how they found a card from the police station at the gas station when I came across this comment.
Will was the betrayer because he said choose Wesley and he did. Everyone else chose wisely.
Oh my goodness Wil, that intro was one of the best written and delivered introductions you've given.
I'm looking forward to the gag reel. I suspect that wasn't done on the first take.
+Geph C the point is not how many takes it took, but the quality of the writing and how they spoke
The point of the gag reel though is to see how many times ***** completely slaughters the quality of the writing.
Recognize Ashley Johnson? Probably
-voiced Gretchen in Recess
-voiced Gwen in some Ben 10 stuff
-voiced Terra in Teen Titans
-voiced Ellie in The Last of Us
-played Beth the waitress in the Avengers (rescued by Capt. America)
Hope that helps some of y'all :)
SHE WAS GRETCHEN, TOO? Holy shit! I had no idea! :D
-voiced Ellie in a really popular PS game the Last of us.
She was also in one of her first roles, the little girl in Lionheart 1990 Jean Cloud Van Dam movie :)
@@Kingsservant83 goo.gl/search/Jean-Claude+Van+Damme
Jean-Claude Van Damme, Belgian actor
?
Roseheart Toxic No, in the JVCD movie titled “Lionheart” Ashley Johnson was JCVD’s daughter.
“F*** you, ‘it’s a thing you have to do!!’” My favorite quote ever lol
Ashley said in an interview recently that her bringing her RP books to a TableTop filming was the reason Felicia Day heard about their group and hence why Critical Role is a thing.
How lucky can they be I mean Critical Role is the biggest thing at this page after TableTop
this episode aired a little under two months before critical role had it's first live stream
Felicia must have realised a dnd game composed entirely of voice actors was a real opportunity!
Just came back to watch this and realising that when Ashley talks about playing a cleric in her D&D campaign she's actually talking about pre-CR Pike is awesome.
Ashley in a zombie game? That's no coincidence right? XD
***** most likely not XD she already starred in one zombie game, so why not 2?
Yes
Haha XD
Will's the Traitor! Ashley's the Traitor! Grant's the Traitor! Dodger is the Traitor! That Pot plant is the Traitor! The Library is the Traitor! That can of SPAM is the traitor!!
LOL!!
No....... You are the traitor...
Jason Heiman No you clearly are!! You with all your full stops! :)
WhenTheSkyTurnsDark That sounds like something a traitor would say!
Christoffer .Klase Oh really?! Well I am rubber and you are glue and everything you say is exactly what the traitor would say. Traitor! :)
Touché.
Rest in peace Grant, man, 2020 just keeps getting worse and worse and worse...
Ashley bends cards. Pike mends bards.
Every single card is bent. Including the Location mats. How do they do that. Roll them up inside the box?
When she said "I'm in a D&D campaign right now, and I play a cleric" i went "No you don't, Yasha is a berserker... OooooooooH... Campaign one, this video is old..."
@@GodBear97 if you hit it hard enough it won't need healing anymore.
@@CathrineMacNiel That doesn't make Yasha a cleric though
@@GodBear97 but she could multiclass into a cleric of tempest; okay just took a look on her stats... no, cleric won't gonna happen.
This one hurts a lot. Grant will be dearly missed, he was such a bright soul who inspired so many. He was relentlessly kind and intelligent. Hope you've found peace, wherever or whatever that may be. We were all better for having known you.
Cannot unhear Ellie's voice lol
that's funny, except Ellie says f*ck every other word
+Kelvin Wu Same. Sometimes I hear Gortys too. I love Ashley
+Kelvin Wu Terra
Especially not while playing a zombie game.
Cant stop thinking of gortys
My favorite episode of Tabletop. Rest in peace, Grant.
Grant... choose wisely... Wil.... choose Wesley....
REFERENCES
Wil did choose Wesley, no one liked him at the end of all this and he had to leave. Love Wil Wheaton but that burn was just too good to ignore. :P
I miss this show. I would love a reboot.
Legitimately, I've become a fan of every person in this episode independent of this show. Dodger for her stream, Ashley for Critical Role, Grant for Mythbusters, and Wil for Wil and this show. I would love to get some awesome people playing new games in a condensed CZcams format.
Love this episode and definitely can't wait to play this game!!! (Dr Hanna is he a playable character?!?)
Totally pegged the ending.
Was it bothering anyone else that Ashley kept bending the cards?
Yeah lol
gret lol lol
Played it a few weeks ago at my FLGS and had a blast. Got the Walter White Jessie Pinkman combo and blew up some zombies.... blew em up good
I would have exiled Will as soon as he said he wanted to kill Grant's farmer. Losing actions doesn't really hurt the traitor as they can't do negative actions, only good or neutral ones. Also, on top of morale loss, that was the primary source of food in the scenario that requires a LOT of food. So, if there was ever a traitorous move in the game that was it.
Yup, it's really dead giveaway. Wil is entirely too competent to make such a "stupid mistake."
What an incredible opening monologue.
Nominating this one for an extended episode at the end of the series
It's already 45 minutes long and the game only lasts a few rounds. Might not be enough for an Extended.
MurrayTheMac They skipped half of the playtime. It would be good to do it as an extended episode for next Halloween.
If I'm ever in a zombie situation I hope there is a ninja nearby!
Thou doth protest too much! 36:25
Farewell, Mr. Imihara. Whether we knew you from Tabletop, Mythbusters, or any of the movies you worked on, we loved and respected you. Rest in peace, Grant.
Ashley with the combined experience as Ellie and Pike! She is zombie bane.
First teh gr8t Jesse Cox has returned.... And now The lovely Dodger.......
.......TB might come back for an episode :D....
Also half life 3 confirmed.
HE might do...except that TB is down with bowel cancer I believe. Give him time to recover haha!
unlikely because of his cancer
Faishal Luthfi He's recovering very quickly, almost done has last round of chemo
Nah, if I remember correctly Will has a sort of grudge against our dear absolute cookie, it seems
there was a series of twitter posts about that, they're fine, it was all internet hype about nothing
Grants face when he said "former host" was painful...
This game should be played again! Best one ever!
I cant stand when they bend the cards, it kills me inside
+A Unarmed Puppy DRIVES ME NUTS! LOL
I was watching her bend them and I was like 'Stop it--!" First instinct was to slap her hand.
i know!!!! thats the first thing i noticed! cringe
@33:43 even the non-colony location board are bended. *cring*
*****
I don't play the game, I just collect for the art! But I am that way with all my board games; I like keeping them pristine because those things are expensive and replacement cards or pieces aren't easy to get or cheap!
Scar can't agree more
If I ever meet a girl as beautiful as Dodger.
Guilherme Sabino You've seen my room?
What? you'll completely fail to get off with her?
***** get off? I think\hope you meant "go out"
I think this is the first time I've seen Dodger without bright neon hair. I miss it...
Carlos Abrego She's not THAT good looking. Not that she's ugly or anything, she's just not like stunningly beautiful either.
This would have been a great episode to do an Extended version of.
Rewatching this with tears in my eyes, RIP the Legend Grant 💜
I miss tabletop with Will Wheaton, please bring him back!!!!!
WHYYYYYY did Ashley not mention that she's practically a pro at zombie survival being, you know... ELLIE FROM THE LAST OF US?!?
Steve Stevenson Because being you know a voice actor for a character does not make you actually gain the skills of the character you are doing a voice for.
Exactly, missed the golden chance for TLOU reference :(
Steve Stevenson "Guys guys guys, I was the voice of a teenage girl in this situation, I know everything I need to survive."
***** Actually scientist did studies on voice actors back in 2004 and it was concluded that voice actors were more skilled at the subject they're voice acting in than even the most qualified of that particular field.
Sherlock Mowg Link to those studies please.
Wheaton makes a good traitor because he understands it's much more valuable to cast suspicion on someone else than it is to hopelessly defend yourself against someone who is just gonna say "that's what the traitor would say," to any defense you might offer.
doesnt fly all that well in my group, mostly when you start to accuse too early ,
then it easily gets turned around back at you ....
He did good by keeping his tone somewhat jokingly in the first turn ,
however in our group he`d need to lay off alot more and increase the joking around factor .
The reason he got a pass is because he played with two women who kinda look up to him,
making it far more likely theyll passively follow him in this ,
though one saw the limits of that dynamic when he slyly tried to get them to exile Grant...
I thought it was pretty transparent, actually. He's never been that good of an actor ;)
i think Wil makes a good traitor as he usually rolls so bad that its hard to expect him to be a good player! His notoriously bad dice rolling HELPED him in the traitor role. I was completely taken in by him
skyblaze eterno
Well helped his secondary objective of ending the game but it made him lose because he failed to complete his win condition objective.
It isn't even neccessarily that that's the best way to play off being the traitor. As that may not work in some groups, and is a matter of knowing how to play the other players. Mainly it's the fact that thats EXACTLY how we would expect Wil to act if he weren't the traitor. It just seemed so much the way he always plays that I didn't suspect him for a minute.
I really suspected Grant, though a big reason for that had to do with his secret objective. The luck of him drawing that objective really helped Wil paint Grant as the traitor.
Best moment in this video 28:58
Came after the passing of Grant...
Hearing Grant say FORMER host of Mythbusters break my heart!
11:26 "I'm just aware of my surroundings. Of other people."
(Ashley in the background) "Whoever smellt it dealt it! Whoever denied it supplied it!"
"Yes, sorry, what?"
It's just not right that he died so young. Grant Imahara is a legend.
Refreshing myself on the rules for a teach of this tomorrow, and forgot how good this episode was. Grant, RIP of course. Wish we could get this show back…what a gem!
it's truelly weird that every co-op game with a defector that Will has played he wins
He didn't win.
Bryan Kral he came real close to winning
elias garcia Real close to winning but not winning still means he lost. And when victory looks you in the eyes only to be denied at the last possible moment is that much more harder to take.
i'll give you that, but should i remember you that Will has lost almost every tabletop game but all the games he has won has been mostly co-ops with a defactant and in tis case he ALMOST won he onlly lacked one item.
elias garcia And because he lacked one item it means his victory conditions were not met, meaning, he lost. I don't see what his previous wins or losses have to do with this. They all played the game and the game beat them. Simple as that.
In not labeling the trophy 'Dead of Winner', they missed a great opportunity.
EDIT - Never mind. Dyslexia made me misread what you said. Nothing to see here folks.
Hi Mitchell. hehehe
44:58 me after i finish the last of us 2 - and rest in peace Grant Imahara. May the Force be with you.
we need an extended version for this!!
"The more you roll" part killed me
...And the D&D campaign that Ashley is in is...wait for it...CRITICAL ROLE!!!
+THE Retro Gamer 9000 I heard her say cleric and I was just "PIKE!"
Matthew Motooka Pike is actually one of my favorites in CRITICAL ROLE. I am still trying to catch up on it, but from what I've seen so far, Pike is a great character.
Pike is awesome. She carries in certain situations.
+THE Retro Gamer 9000 Just as a heads up the Geek and Sundry website has more episodes than CZcams
bwp108 I know.
Rest in peace, Grant. You left us much, much too soon. :(
Seeing this brought me to the verge of tears. RIP Grant, you magnificent genius and wonderful human being. You were taken from us too soon.
This was filmed long before Dodger dyed her hair blonde.
Just like in the first episode she was in. Came out in 2013, yet she had aqua hair in that episode, even though her hair was red in 2013.
This was definitely filmed between August since Grant mentions here that he's a 'former host' of mythbusters and November The month Dodger got her hair dyed.
Soon we're going to tell the time based on her hair color.
You're a loser.
ZenitramNaes Nerd.
phoenix_1234 no the OP is real creepy, done some pretty intrusive things in the past.
Ashley Johnson playing a zombie game. Totally has the advantage. Also RIP Grant. Loved this guy on Mythbusters.
I don't know how anyone can not know if Wil is the traitor or not. He has NO poker face, and it is SO easy to tell when he is trying to manipulate people.
RIP Grant. We're missing you already.
This comment is 2 years old, but I just want to say if you think Wil has no poker face, go watch the episode where they play love letter/coup. When Wil doesn't want you to know what he's thinking, you won't know what he's thinking. The manipulative part...Ill concede to that point. But he does have an excellent poker face.
Hmmmm. I think they should amend the credits in this episode to say:
"Any similarity to actual persons living, dead or undead"
I'd LOVE to see the extended version of this
I think what people forgot while playing and watching this is that Wil's an actor. He knew how to play the table, and even managed to evoke sympathy in a case where, when Grant did the same thing, he got flack and suspicion. Wil *played* that table super fucking well. It was only at the end that one of the other people, another actor, figured out what he was on about, and by that point it was too late. Wil played this off really well, even if he didn't meet his goal.
Always come back to watch this at least once a a year and I always get reminded of Grant's death.
Rest in peace, brother. You just needed to watch this to see he was so full of life.
Gods be with you.
This has to be one of my favorite episodes with Grant in it, I love how he calls out Wil at the very end
Having the voice of Ellie, in a zombie based game... Perfect :)
When Wil kept trying to make Grant out to be the traitor, I kind of suspected he did it to draw suspision away from himself. Great game, I like all these guests! They can come back anytime in my book.
Hoping to see Ashley Johnson in a new season of Spooked!
One of my favorite table tops and now I cant see it the same way again. R.I.P. Grant
RIP Grant. Always a smile on your face.
This is about my favorite game right now. Our group loves it, and I think it's gonna keep coming out for a good long while.
A couple rules corrections:
1) Crossroads cards - unless stated otherwise on the card, the player whose turn it is makes the sole decision as to which option takes effect.
2) Resolving the crisis - the cards go straight to the discard pile, not into the waste pile.
3) Zombies at the colony - I believe you did not add zombies at the colony during at least one colony phase.
4) It looks like you removed the food token during the turn when the colony was starving. The food token should not have been spent.
5) You cannot give cards (in this case, the medicine). They would need to be requested by the other player.
Now, it's possible I'm mistaken on one or more of these ... If so, please feel free to correct me.
I spotted number 5. And Can you really discard a card to re-roll a dice?
Yes, you can discard (or, play, really) a Junk card to reroll one die.
And if a card is requested, you have to use it right away. You can't hold onto it for a victory condition.
deano2099
noticed that one too
Oh yeah, but it's specifically a junk card ability. Yeah ok.
This episode is what got me into not only tabletop games, but into Critical Role and ultimately, into D&D....Thank you Wil.
This is one of my favorite episodes of Tabletop. R.I.P., Grant Imahara.
this is one of my favorite table top episodes. Looks like a great game and everyone who played was so fun to watch! Bring these people back.
if you think about it, Grant, was actually right! Am i the only one who definitely knew he wasn't the traitor and Wil was? I mean Wil was pointing fingers everywhere.
I watched this about a week ago... not knowing Grant had died... I guess that's why it popped up in my recommended... Rest in peace Grant... Your life truly been a wild one!
Rest in Piece, Grant Imahara.
You were a great man.
Literally realised who the traitor was just before they revealed it XD
Grant did a really good job of acting the traitor the whole way through...
I feel so sad for Wil. This was an awesome game, they played really well.
One of the best episodes I watched so far. High tension, high stakes. Love it.
RIP Grant. Weirdly, I had been planning to rewatch this episode, as it kept appearing in my list of suggested videos!
This is weird. The voice of Gretchen (among other roles), Dodger, and Grant from Mythbusters are playing a game together. This is shit you dream about... oh yeah, and fuckin Wesley from Star Trek.
WHEEEEEAATTTOOOOONNNN!! Thank you for making these, sir. Purchased this and look forward to working together with...people who were my friends until we started playing Dead of Winter. :)
+Jeremy Roy because of dead and winter and resistance none of my friends trust me anymore and if the Apocalypse ever hits im the first one dead.
what a line up of guests
Unless your in Australia... Then you only know Grant....
Is Blindspot not available in Australlia? Ashley is a main character in the show at the moment
StOcK MaStEr43 she also has a short cameo in Avengers although I doubt people would remember her from there!
30:30 funniest part ever lol, love this episode
I've now owned this game for about a year, after having watched this.
it's honestly one of my favs out of my collection (along with Betrayal at House on the Hill, and Werewolf) and it's been an absolute hit among my friends. seriously. this game is AWESOME. Both as just a game to have fun playing, but also as something with great writing and role play.
One of the best board games ever made.
just played it today, very confusing
Derek Macdonald First time can be a little over whelming. We missed a few rules but we've played several more times on tabletop simulator and have had a blast. Even tried some expansions. So fun!
Derek Macdonald I got Crusoe before this and I can tell you that this is way easier and neat.
4:11 Participants introduction
4:56 Game start
I'm convinced. I'm buying this game. Please make more .
I always love the look on the face of whoever's next to Will when he pulls his voices.
The editing on these is amazing.
We need an Ashley Johnson and Grant Imahara appearance in every season of TableTop. Please make this a thing. Dodger too.
Mike Cho -- The real food search, is the friends we made along the way.
Seeing Ashley bend those cards was gut wrenching lol. But she is literally the sweetest individual.
when everybody was yelling at grant because he put the barricades on 6 I knew immediately what he was doing, it so indeed so that the zombies wouldn't knock it down so he could get his objective
You should invite Dodger Leigh as often as you can! Just saying.
So awesomely emotional. Everyone was so present in the game it was amazing to watch.
Man I miss this show. It was the first show I ever watched about board games and the one that got me hooked in the hobby
I knew Will was the traitor. I had a gut feeling, just like Ashley!
At the start Grant basically did the best move possible for the team and he immediately went "A little too good, Grant, what's your angle?" and made it pretty clear he was trying to direct suspicion away from him
I knew neither dodger nor ashley were but I had my suspicions about Grant. At the beginning he did an amazing move but made sure everyone knew it; when I'm the traitor I usually wait at least 2 rounds before I start to slowly not help. Unless its a 3 rounder, sabotaging off the bat will get you exiled and not being overtly helpful will cast suspicion onto you. Grant also acted rather shady most of the game including building the barricades way too early, do that on the final round when they might stay up rather than wasting turns early when you still need food
she knew it my ass
You don’t need a gut feeling I knew as soon as will said grant could be a traitor and later in the gamer killed the farmer
Oh tabletop... you know how to fill my lunch break
This was a great episode. The players chemistry was perfect. Dodger was adorable.
I just stumbled upon this video and as a life time Mythbusters super fan my heart literally stopped when I saw grant in this. Thank you grant for being my hero and inspiring me Rest In Peace 😔
