I was 11 years old when this video came out. Now I'm in college, this game is surprisingly accurate.
Yeah, lots of slack low income, drinking and RPGs and Magic the Gathering
"you probably don't wanna drink this" is my bill cosby cover band
I'm four years too late to tell you how wrong yet accurate this is lol
"Sounds Like an Act Break" is the name of my Yoko Ono Cover band
"I don't need your input internet nerds" is the name of my Steve jobs cover band
Derrick Jackson also the name of my George Lucas cover band
I've watched this so many times (TableTop is a great comfort show) and I only just now noticed the pun in Andrew's t-shirt. I also just learned of Andrew's passing. Rest In Peace Andrew and thank you for the fun times in this video.
RIP Andrew Hackard. You will be missed but your games live on 6/17/21
"There's a bong in there. Why aren't you taking the bong?" is the name of my Police cover band.
"That Night Chris Came Home" is my Rhianna cover band.
Oh my god noooooooo
They play all the hits...
@@morningglory7595 As the great Colin Mochrie once said,
"Every song a hit, and every hit a smack!"
very appropriate considering what Chris Hardwick would do
Dec 31. At home, not even playing board games but watching people play them. Life is great...
yourshadow05 Life is Great is my Hanson Cover band
God Bless You Andrew. RIP
Why can I not stop watching these!! So entertaining and I don't know why!!!
Spira Crepsley it's deliciously adictive
Sea Salt that's my fergie coverband
+Spira Crepsley Same
I know right
So entertaining and I don't know why is my Taylor Swift cover band.
Is it me of Will has one of the most fabulous jobs in the world?
His job to lose games in his house to other people?
Dalton VanHecke His job is to lose games in his house to other famous people.
leotamer5 Aside from a few guests NONE of these people are that famous
It does seem like Wil's (with one L) job is kinda awesome.
Most of them are NERD famous. 😉
The Animal Bothering Show is my Ozzy Osborn cover band
Well fucking played sir.
This one is so great because you can tell they are all SUPER good friends. This is why I like watching Will with Felicia or Collin from Eureka. People he knows well he jokes so easily with and it's extra funny.
I love that Wil always seems to make a dramatic comeback before defeat. He's a hare's breath, a unicorn's whisper away from victory, and the next turn the person on his right wins.
21:00
"Touch my goal" is my Michael Jackson cover band name.
"It's A Pretty Dead Heat" is my Red Hot Chili Peppers cover band.
"Sounds Like An Act Break" is my Yoko Ono cover band.
"I'd be bitching too" is my Kanye West coverband
"Contractual Obligation" is my Artist Formerly Known as Prince cover band
Dude...perfect.
"Losers Couch" is the name of my Silverchair coverband.
I've been on sort of a Tabletop watching binge lately. Wil, did you perhaps, at some point, run over Lady Luck's cat or do something equally dire to elicit her fury?
Elicit her fury is my Janet Jackson cover band.
There was an incident with an Eldritch horror earlier on the series...
@@weeklyhan8506 --who shall remain nameless...
Thanks for this whole show Wil. Before I joined the Army I played a lot of games with my family and it was a great bonding tool. Now I live so far away from them I obviously don't get to play much anymore. When I found out about this show I loved it from the first episode. This is great at introducing me to games Ive never seen or played before.
Thanks Wil for this effort. My family has always liked games but your show has given us a new venue for finding games and getting a quick start idea of playing them. It has given us some great family moments this Christmas and I appreciate your contribution to that!
"A little bit of cosplay" is my GWAR coverband.
Dumpster diving is my Kevin Federline cover band. B-)
This is a great series. It's brilliant to see everyone having so much fun every episode. Please do keep up the good work.
Once again thanks for making these. I can only imagine how much goes into each episode. Thanks to you my friends and I have had hours of fun playing Munchkin and Dixit. Thanks!

I'm gonna own my mistake is my Billy Ray Cyrus cover band ;)
Yes! Season Twoooo! Thank you so much!
Keep the games coming, you guys have given us Friday night board game night with my kids, for that I say THANK YOU
You're fired is the name of my Megadeth cover band
16:16 'cosplay' is the name of my fat albert and the cosby kids cover band
Awesome, as always. Thanks, Wil!
Always a pleasure to watch!!
Paul reminds me of Ryan Haywood of Achievement Hunter
Achievement hunter is my Elvis Presley cover band
When I was in Med school I payed for the first year by being a "research subject" for different pharmaceutical companies in Washington DC. So, I feel your pain Andrew Hackard.
Thanks for making these, they are truly awesome. Its actually inspired me to organize a fortnightly games night with my friends from uni. We don't get to see each other as much as we used to and though we're all nerdy, we'd never thought of getting together to see each other and game! Thanks heaps... I've ordered The Guild addition of Munchkin for our first games night :)
Excellent as always! There must, must, must, must be a second series.
"Man, that table they're playing on looks really nice! I wonder if I can get it somewhere... what's that brand name? Geek Chic? I'll google it...
Oh man, they do sell them, and they look AWESOME!!
...and they cost...

Just make a felt cover for a table you already have
@@buddhamack1491 there is also the slant built in for the camera.
Fast forward to today: Nope. Geek Chic isn’t a thing.
Will would have won at 21:10 if he had called Mr Enthusiastic when he had that great turn.
no he wouldn't, he'd have been at 16, not 19
I have been playing this for years! It is good to see you revisting some of the games of old that newer gamers may have missed.
...and saying that made me feel old.
wooo finally! been waiting so long for this. I would love to see a DVD release of all of these, it'd be great.
RIP Andrew Hackard.
"I'm gonna own my mistake" is my Miley Cyrus cover band.
Cover band joke counter 1
I have been binge watching these - this is certainly the most genuine geek show they have had yet.
So happy the show is still going.
im not getting any coverband joke
American humour I guess
A lot of bands that existed a few decades ago
Actually they're just making fun of the bands, like "Go to sleep" is a Michael Jackson cover band... all that "taking medicines to sleep" deal.
The Hit Counts, Ike Turner cover band is because he used to hit is wife.
+skyblaze eterno American Humour is my one-direction coverband
Many "Slackers" of the 80s-90s had cover-bands of famous musicians, hoping to get into the big-leagues. To be cool, back then, the stereotype was that you had to be in a band.
The names are just playful jabs at the artists they would cover.
I'm so nerdy, I noticed Wil leave from the left, not the right.
Every episode of Tabletop is great!
"You probably don't want to drink this" is the name of my Cypress Hill cover band
I don't understand the cover band jokes
+awesampwnah blahblLAH Here you go. knowyourmeme.com/memes/x-is-the-name-of-my-y-cover-band
I still dont get it...
When someone says a joke or phrase that sounds like it could be a band name, the guys are responding with an artist or band that would go with the phrase.
For example:
6:45 - "I'm going to go to sleep, my Michael Jackson cover band". Michael Jackson died when he overdosed on propofol (a surgical anesthetic) and benzodiazepines (a downer/sleeping drug).
10:41 - "It's all about hit counts is the name of my Ike Turner cover band". Ike Turner was a famous musician who abused his wife, Tina Turner.
Kandecid t
What have we learned from this?
They got a lot of cover bands...
TheHusky They got a lot of cover bands is my Bon Jovi cover band
Awesome as always! Can't wait for the next one!
Love the show, love the game, gonna have to try play it again.
After the first 'interview' section during the game, I already hate Andrew
agreed, If I was the host he would be disqualified
Dont know what Will sees in Steve Jackson games...
well... Steve Jackson combine silly humor, references that the majority understand, random chance of winning with fast-paced competitive gameplay that doesn't requires alot of skill.
I guess Will like that
My only souce of refrence is "Munchkin" and "Chez Geek"
I think Jackson understands that the the majority of gamers prefer casual/light games and that the obsessives/the fanboys are in a minority - highly vocal of course but still a minority - TBH its one of the few games on this series I thought would actually be enjoyable to play - clear objective, simple rules - loks highly replayable - the only thing I would have changed was calling Slack points Nerd points
I don't agree that the majority of gamers prefer casual games, but I do believe that casual games can be a nice quick change of pace in between the more hardcore games.
I normally start out with a casual/competitive game to get people fired up, then a "hardcore game" or two, then a casual/co-op game just to cool people off.
In most cases no matter what game we bring up, be it casual or not, will there always be borderline fanatic fanboys that think their view of the universe is the only right one.
If you change to "Slack" to "Nerd" I think there's quite a few cards you should change, but i could see it to be more enjoyable that way.
Spoony McSoupAlot sorry but you are wrong - sales figures prove that gamers prefer CASUAL or LIGHT games - Even the big sellers within modern games Catane, Ticket To Ride pale in comparison to the older maligned games which are dissed because they are basically light
the future of gaming does NOT depend upon hardcore obsessives it depends upon NEW gamers and new gamers rarely are interested in anything other than light/casual games
TBH I think its the aspect of modern games that needs to be dropped - more games should be light and abstract with minimal theme - if people are happy to play with the 3 or 4 players who actually know a game because its too niche then fine
Back to Jackson - he is very canny and understands you can theme a game to appeal to a broad audience - I can imagine noobs easily getting into Munchkin and Chez Geek because of the cliches/stereotypes used - the game rules are fairly simple too
Munchkin in its forms is meant to have sold over 100,000 copies last year - so Jackson must be doing something right
Jack Luminous Firstly I'm confused by saying "modern games like Catan" compared to "older maligned light games" like Munchkin? I mean, Munchkin's pretty old, like, 2001, sure. But Catan was 1995. I was in high school when I got it!
We have to own a copy of Munckin for when we have a larger party with some non-gaming friends, and it's also one of those things everybody buys for us because they know "oh hey, they like games, and this one's cthulu themed and I know they like that kind of thing!" Now I have a copy of a Lovecraftian Munchkin sitting on my shelf. Yayyyy... So now everybody owns multiple copies of Munchkin. Doesn't mean they get played. In fact, we don't even play Munchkin at the aforementioned party. I have to have it as an offering. And PAX really pushed the Zombie Dice hardcore years back, and if PA picks up a thing, it's suddenly everywhere. I notice nobody brings out the Zombie Dice or wants to play it now, even at PAX, but we still enjoy Catan.
I mean yeah, not everybody is going to play Tzolkin, I get it. If it won any German awards, it's going to be too much for "relaxing fun time" for the vast majority of humanity. But there's a middle ground between Tzolkin's hardcore resource management, and the "we may as well have just rolled a bunch of dice and whoever got the highest wins, oh, except there's tons of king-making, also" which is Steve Jackson games.
Easily one of my favorite episodes so far. Also really makes me want to play this game... Mission accomplished!
This was an awesome episode, a lot of synergy between the players!
While I greatly enjoyed this episode with all the cover band jokes and whatnots...this game looks depressingly bad.
This game is more of a game that ask to be role played
Yeah, it has a really douchey vibe to it. Like, really? Nookie?
Thank you Geek & Sundry and Wil Wheaton for re-igniting my love for board/tabletop games!!!
Also, best episode of "TableTop" EVER!
love the shows. keep it up. I've bought 5 new games over the last couple of months and they're great additions.
Yay! more Table Top! Love the show! Keep it up!
Please make a season 2! please! all I have to look forward to on thursdays!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!
Thank you for showing me so many new games!
"I am Going to go Dumpster Diving" is the name of my Nickleback cover band
so glad I got that hogans heroes joke. it was perfect
Woot. Glad for new TableTop... it's become a relaxing and amusing tradition after my night shifts. Thank you!
Man these guys had such a blast
This might be my favorite episode so far. The interplay between Paul, Storm and Wil was great to watch. :)
So glad you covered this game! Bought it months ago but haven't had a chance to play it. Now at least, I'll know the basics when it comes time to play it!! TableTop Rox.
Great episode as always, and Chez Geek worked very well for this shows format
This game is perfect for me and my friends, thanks for showing it Geek and Sundry
Reaaaaly hope they do an extended version of this one!
Love this show!
Good Show! Enjoyable. Thank you.
Great show. Have to love Steven Jackson games.
As always, loved the show!
This was a good episode. I love how the show changes based on who is playing, as much as what game you are playing.
right on Wil thanks for another great episode!!! shared! keep up the good work!!
What a great episode!
Great show! As always
Great stuff as always!
Fantastic episode! Inspired us to have a game night this weekend!
"...Is the name of my cover band" is the name of my Da Vinci's Notebook cover band.
...beautiful.
im glad someone know who they are
This is one of the best episodes of TableTop yet!
YES, I checked Tabletop yesterday and was like dang when is the next episode. Thank you Wil Wheaton for hearing my prayers.
Another great episode!!
I can't explain how happy this show makes me. My friends and I used to pull a pretty regular board game night in the winter, but this year our schedules just haven't matched up. I'm going to have to try to get it going again.
Please, please, PLEASE bring Tabletop back for another series! Wil explains the rules so well, and you guys have managed to come up with some extremely interesting guests.
Can we pay you money? Maybe a Kickstarter?
I love this show!!!!
This was an awesome awesome episode.
Can I just say that I completely love the way the brick wall behind the gaming table ALWAYS has theme decorations to go with the game you are playing!!! Hooray!
YAY NEW TABLE TOP! My friday is complete:) Thanks G&S!
This is one of the most enjoyable games I've watched on tabletop! Everybody was having fun : )
Great show this week.
