Babočka osiková (Nymphalis antiopa, tzv. „Černopláštník“) je denní motýl z čeledi babočkovitých.
Popis
Vajíčka
Při prvním položení jantarově žlutá nebo světle olivově zelená. Při dalším vývoji se zbarvení změní na lila-růžové a ztmavnutí až téměř černé, jak zrají před líhnutím.
- velikost: 0,7 x 0,9 mm
Larvy
Ostnaté housenky s černými těly a řadou osmi červeno-oranžových teček na zádech.
- délka: až 5 cm
Kukly
- délka: 2 - 2,8 cm (0,8 - 1,1 palce)
Hnědošedá, se dvěma řadami ostrých hrotů s červenými hroty. Kukla má „zobák“ a dva rohy.
Motýl
Délka předního křídla: až 4 cm
Rozpětí křídel: až 10 cm
Vnitřní strana křídel je tmavě hnědá s rozedranými bledě žlutými okraji.
Světlé, duhové modré skvrny lemují černé ohraničení mezi kaštanovou a žlutou.
Rub křídel je černý s šedým pruhováním a bledě žlutými okraji.
Mají chlupaté přední nohy.
Žádný zjevný sexuální dimorfismus.
Výskyt
Obývá mírnou zónu Evropy, Asie a Severní Ameriky.
Jejím domovem jsou listnaté lesy, světliny a lesní cesty, ve kterých samci zakládají svá teritoria.
Zalétá i do sadů a zahrad.
Život
Žije solitérně, setkání s více dospělci na jednom místě je spíše vzácností.
Jako většina baboček patří k našim prvním jarním motýlům
Přezimuje jako imágo.
Housenka se živí listy břízy, osiky, jívy, jilmu, vrby nebo topolu.
Dožívá se 11 až 12 měsíců, což je jedna z nejdelších délek života mezi motýla.
Zhruba do poloviny 20. století patřila mezi hojné motýly. Dnes se drží na poměrně konstantní úrovni, ačkoliv její početnost prodělává meziroční výkyvy.
Není legislativně chráněna.

Nymphalis antiopa, known as the mourning cloak in North America and the Camberwell beauty in Britain, is a large butterfly native to Eurasia and North America.
Distribution
Broadly around the northern hemisphere.
Throughout all of North America and northern Eurasia.
They may also be found as far as the northern part of South America.
They are occasionally seen in temperate places in Asia, and a few have been seen in Japan.
Hardwood forests, though they have been found in virtually all habitats.
Mostly in cold, mountainous areas.
Description
Eggs
Amber-yellow or pale olive-green when first laid. Upon further development, the coloration will change to lilac-pink, and darkening to almost black.

Larvae
The spiny caterpillars with black bodies and a line of eight reddish-orange dots running down the back. The prolegs are dark red. The body is covered with short hairs and black spines and white dots.

Pupae
- length: 0.8 - 1.1 in (2 - 2.8 cm)
Tan or brown gray, with two rows of sharp, red-tipped spikes. The chrysalis has a "beak", tubercles, and two head horns.
Adult
- wingspan: up to 4 inches
The dorsal side of its wings are a dark maroon, or occasionally brown, with ragged pale-yellow edges.
Bright, iridescent blue spots line the black demarcation between the maroon and the yellow.
The ventral side of the wings has gray striations, with the same pale-yellow edges.
They have hairy front legs.
There is no obvious sexual dimorphism.
Life
Polygynous mating behavior - individual male will mate with multiple females throughout one breeding season.
He will either use a display site to attract females or fly around searching for females that are more widely dispersed.
Spring is the beginning of their mating season, when females will find a host plant and begin to lay their eggs. They aestivate for the summer, where they will enter into a "dormant" state similar to that of hibernation.
They overwinter, and then restart their mating cycle throughout the spring, from April through June.
Life cycle
They undergo complete metamorphosis.
Egg →Larva (L1 - L5) → Pupa → Adult.
They lay their eggs as ring clusters around the terminal twigs on host plants.
Females are known to have multiple broods, typically up to 2 to 3.
Behavior
The adult butterflies hibernate during the winter months. Typical locations of overwintering include tree cavities and on the ground underneath loose tree bark.
Upon hatching, the caterpillars will begin to eat the leaves of the larval food-plant. A larger number of food-plant plants were recorded, such as willow, hackberry, hawthorn etc..
The caterpillars live gregariously in communal silken nest on the host-plant, until they disperse prior to pupation.
Adults primarily feed on sap, ripe and fallen fruits and sugary exudate from aphids, very rarely seen nectaring on flowers.
These butterflies have a lifespan of 11 to 12 months, one of the longest lifespans for any butterfly.

Enjoyed watching the mourning cloak again because i had seen this and left a comment but i do not seen it anymore, so i went back and has watch the whole video again.👌in 1995 and 2006, there was a major invasion of mourning cloak in the Netherlands but they are now almost gone here.👍🖐
Bavilo mě znovu sledovat smuteční plášť, protože jsem to viděl a zanechal komentář, ale už to nevidím, tak jsem se vrátil a znovu jsem si prohlédl celé video. letech 1995 a 2006 došlo v Nizozemsku k velké invazi smutečních masek; dále jsou zde nyní téměř neviditelné.
