Střevlík vrásčitý - The blue ground beetle (Chaetocarabus intricatus)
Střevlí vrásčitý nebo taky svraštělý je druh střevlíka vyskytujícího se v Evropě. Patří k našim středně velkým střevlíkům.
Popis
Velikost: 20-40 mm
Zbarvení je černé s fialovo-modravým třpytivým povrchem. Vzácně se zeleným, černým nebo fialovozeleným nádechem. Zejména na krovkách, které jsou ozdobeny typickými výstupky.
Ze spodu je černý, přívěsky také černé.
Hlava je silně vrásčitá.
Oči silně vystupující.
Štít s dobře viditelnými zašpičatělými zadními laloky.
Krovky oválného tvaru s četnými vrásami.
Výskyt
Téměř celá Evropa, včetně severních i jižních oblastí kontinentu.
Částečně proniká do Skandinávie. Rozšířen v Itálii směrem na Balkán až do Řecka.
Tento druh je uveden jako téměř ohrožený na Červeném seznamu IUCN a jako ohrožený v určitých oblastech, jako je Nizozemsko, Lucembursko, Belgie a Dánsko. V Lotyšsku vyhynul a v posledních desetiletích prošel celoevropským ústupem.
V ČR patří k hojným druhům střevlíků.
Spíše podhorský až horský druh, vystupuje až 1500 m n. m.
Biotopem jsou lesy převážně listnaté, ale i jehličnaté, často také poblíž lomů. Často také v parcích, zahradách a na dalších stanovištích.
Biologie a ekologie
Dospělci se objevují v březnu až červnu, druhá generace srpen až září.
V nejteplejším období roku se brouci ukrývají a upadají do tzv. letního spánku.
Opětovně vylézají v srpnu / září a setkat se s nimi můžeme až do pozdních podzimních měsíců.
Dospělí brouci přezimují ve skupinách, obvykle v trouchnivějícím dřevě pařezů apod. ve smíšených a listnatých lesích.
Je zástupcem masožravců, kteří hodují především na slimácích, žížalách a jiném hmyzu.
Někdy konzumují mízu, spadané ovoce či bobule.
Je nočním dravcem, přes den se ukrývá pod kameny, v listí nebo v mechu. Lze ho spatřit i lovícího během dne, za kořistí leze dokonce na stromy.

Carabus intricatus, the blue ground beetle, is a species of ground beetle found in Europe.
Description
Length: 20-40 mm (0.79-1.57 inches)
The color is black with a purple-blue shimmering surface. Rarely with a green, black or purple-green tinge.
The forebody is long and narrow.
Legs are black, slender and very long.
Head quadrate with forwardly pointing curved mandibles and long, thin antennae, vertex and frons strongly sculptured and clypeus emarginate anteriorly.
Pronotum flat.
Elytra convex and roughly surfaced.
The second pair of wings (which are used by beetles for flying) under the elytra are reduced.
Distribution
The whole of Europe, including the northern and southern regions of the continent.
It partially penetrates into Scandinavia. Expansion in Italy towards the Balkans to Greece.
The species is listed as near-threatened on the IUCN Red List and as threatened in certain areas such as the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium and Denmark. It is extinct in Latvia and has undergone a Europe-wide decline in recent decades.
In Britain it was only recorded three times in the twenty years up to 1993 and was considered extinct there. But in 1994 it was found in a couple of places near Dartmoor.
It is a sub-mountain to mountain species, it rises up to 1500 m above sea level.
The habitat is mostly deciduous but also coniferous forests, often also near quarries. Often also in parks, gardens and other places
Biology
The beetles seem to be active throughout the year and a fully-grown larva has been found in summer.
It is thought that it may take two years to complete its life cycle. The adults are very long-lived.
Adult beetles overwinter in groups, usually in rotting tree stumps, etc. in mixed and deciduous forests.
In the warmest part of the year, the beetles hide and fall into so-called summer sleep.
In the wild, the adults are found under bark on dead wood, and under rocks. It does not require ground vegetation, and likes damp, rotten, moss-covered wood.
It is a carnivore. It eats mainly snails, earthworms and other insects.
Sometimes they consume sap, fallen fruit or berries.
Tests have shown they prefer slugs from the genus Limax, especially Limax marginatus.
They were also found to have a taste for liver, dog food, and crabsticks.
They are nocturnal carnivores and predators that are mainly active in the spring and early summer.
During the day it hides under rocks, in leaves or moss.
Sometimes it can also be seen hunting during the day, he even climbs trees in spice.
