Nice that he went with Chewbacca for the engine. It makes reliable power b/c the VR6 is hard to break and takes boost great.

I have a R5 Turbo, running 491hp, only fwd though. I’ve low and high boost settings.

love it! I've had a few 5's and I thought my 1.7 turbo was badass, but this knocks them all into a cocked hat. Brilliant example of home builds that put a grin on your face without an M badge or AMG one. More of these please Jamie, bringing the real stuff to us 😎👍
Love the build 🤩👌, 1 bar of boost with that turbo is generally about 480-500hp on a 3.2 with stock cams etc

What a build Jamie. Top job Etem. 5 turbos were my dream as a kid. I realise my chance of getting one now is slim but this makes me realise i could build my own if i got a shell. 😎👌🙌
Don't mistake this with a R5 turbo.
This is a SUPER5 not a R5. More recent , body frame very different. They look alike but no the same. R5 stopped being produced in 1985.
TBH slim isn't even the proper word to use about your chances to get one.
I'm french, I gave up on that dream. We can barely see one once in a while each year here.
Beside that, props to that build, but it's not as charming as an original R5 turbo 2 to me.
14:51 The VR 6 makes that grunt between 3 and 4000 RPM and that's when the air flow catches up from the back cylinder to THE front at RPM that's what you hear now the beast!!!❤❤❤

Anyone else would just edit out the boot opening. But I've always appreciated how Jamie keeps it real! Its like you are actually a passenger, out on the first drive with them. Mad love!

When I was around 14yrs old a fella in my town had one of gt turbos it was a stunning two tone pearl white with red flashes . It was a complete rebuild from the frame up . Engine was tuned to the moon . Body kit was just enough not too flashy but fitted very well. Exhausts were wrapped round the rear bumper with an almost inch perfect gap so they didn't burn . Stunning wheels . A nice blue metallic roll cage and was a summer car only to keep it good . He had it for many many years . But it was a stunner of a Renault 5 . Not many left . They were easy to steal and easy to crash but the look on the fast ford's crew faces when one of them was having a tear up with a cossie was funny as hell . The Ford guy was always like wtf is in that biscuit tin lol 😂😂😂😂😂 .
