    Classic view into the difference between a playoff team and a cup contender. We have a way to go to get there but our young guys will learn so much when they make the playoffs this year!

    It would be pretty cool when you consider Steve Yzerman was a big part of giving the Joe it's first playoff series way back when and he can also be a big part of giving LCA its first playoff series

    This team still greatly struggles with clearing the puck out of their own zone.
    Hack and whack panic......... it and it ends up in our net.
    I do not know what the mystery is with this......... pinching it along the boards seems more sane.

    In the first 20-30 minutes of the Florida game, Detroit had more offensive zone time than the Panthers. They were controlling the puck, but Florida kept them to the outside and there was very little actual scoring threat, even on the PP. Then Florida got some bounces, they got some chances from down low in the slot, potted a couple goals and were off to the races.

    Lived in Winnipeg my whole life...they were the worst team in the league when they entered the league in 79...but when we lost our team, we were good...but couldn't keep star players( except in the last couple years, desperation moves by mgmt I assume)...and the team left.. the whole city cried " keep our Jets" etc. It was too late. Well, it's happening again. I go to the Wings game every year, and a couple more because I can't afford to many. I also go to Grand Rapids every time they play the Moose. Our city is filled with " T.V." Jets fans.

      whoa - slow your roll - the playoffs are not settled by a long shot the trade deadline is Fri - there will be teams getting a bounce off of that. Didn't completely agree with these boys assessments of these games - being about the refs. What i saw was both team was pretty effective forechecking -taking advantage of putting pressure on a wobbly defense and play in their own zone. It is not that Detroit hasn't improved in their own zone - they have but not well enough to overcome more aggressive forechecks - of the Islanders and especially Florida. In reality the game was closer than the score indicated. Then they got taken in by Florida's game - they are led by Tkachuk and they know how to get under your skin and take retaliation penalties. That is exactly what the dynasty red wings needed to learn before they could win. Does anyone remember the really good teams they had in the early 90s - lots of good players scored tons of goals. - Dino Ciccarelli was a perfect example- he would always get bad retaliation penalties, the late Shawn Burr, they ended up replacing them - it is a learning experience. Notice how Tkachuk went after Chiarrot ? You can't tell me he didn't know that is exactly the guy who was going to come back after him. As these guys said - they are really good at this - so they got taken into playing Florida's game. It is a learning experience I still believe that starts with physical play Detroit still needs more of that doesn't have to be Ryan Reaves - shouldn't be - just a mindset of hitting and finishing checks and never letting up that pressure.

  • @coreyshafer4747
    @coreyshafer4747 Před 2 měsíci

    I think the poor game management by the refs did change the game a lot. The game was 0-0 when that too many men should have been called, and Florida scored the first goal shortly after that(maybe even while they would have been on the power play), they call that, and it could be a completely different game. Taking 1 from each team when it's the same team starting the scrums every time is bull and like Brad said, why would they stop if it's just going to be 4 on 4. While i think the wings did get outplayed, they certainly couldn't get anything going when the refs were clearly creaming over the panthers all night.

    March isn't going to get any easier 2 sets of back to back; and filled with spoiler and/or playoff elite competition. The points cushion is fine but they still need to keep bullying the top half of the league with their offensive talent.

    Larkin being out 2 weeks / 6 games is going to suck after those 2 losses. Luckily it’s during a stretch of very winnable games (minus AVS and Vegas). Will have to dig deep. I really hope that Steve doesn’t look at the last two games and the Larkin injury as reason to sell. Would be devastating to the locker room, and the fans. They need to give it their all and continue with the winning culture, even if that means standing pat and possibly losing guys in free agency

    Yzerman is selling? It’s best move. Dylan has some pressure on him now. I hope he responds to the loss with a big game against Colorado.
    Otherwise trade deadline trauma incoming. I don’t think Stevie is going to make many moves based off 35 year old Patrick Kane heater. That would be a reach no?
    It’s wonderful. Butts in stands!!! They do it or don’t do it with who they got.
    I believe they need to do well in GR. They need to do well in Detroit without a lot of help from Stevie for more than 3 out 6 months in a season.
    It’s wonderful narrative boys. But what will we do with that first round pick we get for husso Holl and Berger 1st rounder is the real question?
    What will we do with New Jerseys picks!
