Idk....I always said I would not buy from an antique store because I wanted my finds in the wild but I am seeing I can step up my game by soooo many beautiful things all in one spot....just as my store often sold things at a steal to keep it moving....
I know others have commented on putting a blanket in your shopping cart to lay your fragiles on. How about putting a rubber shelf liner? After, you could use it to wrap something for the ride home.

I use orphan creamers for sauces or gravy. I don't think they have to be used for just cream. So glad you picked them up! :-)
We use our little creamer to heat maple syrup in.

Since you mentioned polishing metal, I thought I'd make sure you know about Maas metal polish. I love it! I've polished aluminum, pewter, silver, copper, brass, iron, plastic, and mother of pearl with it.

Yeah, Pampered Chef isn’t cheap. I found a Princess House roast Baker at Goodwill for $8 last year. Not cheap, either!

The vase is a fine example of my theory that an expert repair on most pieces is ok for ordinary collectors. There is quite a lot to enjoy before you see the repair. Especially if it is displayed slightly above eye level. Wonderful find. If the vase were glass then it would likely be a very different story.
That's the Nubble Lighthouse in York, Maine. I grew up going to York Beach all the time. So at least once a year, usually more, I've seen that Lighthouse.
I had an entire silver plate coffee pot set with tray, sugar creamer the whole nine yards that was really tarnished. This lady wanted to buy it for $30 in my area, local drop off. My boyfriend decides to polish it and make it nice for her. He does an excellent job and the thing is spotless. Take it to her and she was completely crest fallen that we'd polished it. She had wanted it because it was tarnished. Ever since I just stay clear of silver plate entirely. lol
fire and light comes from my neck of the woods. I live about 45 minutes away from Arcata, CA. And you're right that is nothing like it! LOL
I wonder if that old Raggedy Ann had been torn open to find her candy heart. Kids used to do that, because, in the book, she had a candy heart. I don't know if any that were sold actually ever had candy hearts, though.
The turkeys were 1970’s, I made one in ceramics class, that speckled glaze was also popular then.
I made brown hens in the 1980's and gave them away. My Mum is nearly 95 and she still has hers.

When I'm drifting I grab a piece of thick clothing , like a sweater or coat , put it on the bottom of my cart .then I place my dishes and glass on it . This stops the items from clanging around the bottom of the cart and breaking or chipping . When I get to the cash unjust tell them that I no longer want the clothing item .

The Raggedy Ann was made by Georgene, from the 40s. Even with the damaged face, she would sell well. Collectors don't mind a bit of wear and tear!

Love it all! I collect holiday decorations. So I really look at blow molds, and 1940s to 1970s stuff. I have a turkey collection, pottery and honeycomb paper. I kept wanting you to pick up the possibly Longaberger baskets though! All are signed and dated and tend to be worth resale. Very light to ship too.

I love lighthouses. Nelson (NZ) has one on the Boulder Bank. That's where I live by the way. I think it's so pretty with the blue sea as a backdrop. Cheers.

But I caught myself walking along the dishes(plates and bowls) and I was touching every one of them trying to figure out the "weight" of the items since Joce always says that. It depends which one you go to for good discount prices.. In richer neighborhoods I see very HIGH PRICES vs stores on poorer places..

I would think yes, because then you don't have to worry if one gets broken.
I started calling mismatched socks cowboy socks to make it easier to get socks on my twins when they were three.
I love an eclectic look. If there's a really beautiful jug I want it. I'm not bothered about sets. The more beautiful things for my eyeballs the better.

If the majolica vase hadn't been broken and repaired, it likely would never have been culled from the original owner, and you'd never have gotten it!🙂 For one, I'd gladly display it. My mantle would be proud to hold such a beauty!

That boy doll with the stand and boots with his mouth open is part of a series of carolers that people display on their mantles at Christmas time. They can pull some really good money. You should grab it if it is still there.

CLL.. a tip. Go to blanket section if there is one and get a blanket to put on the bottom of your cart to cushion precious things like the vase. Just leave it after... or bring in your own.
