Forgotten For 16 Years - V12 BMW E31 850i Revival - Project Malaga: Part 1
Vložit
- čas přidán 5. 02. 2020
- You join me on a road trip to Malaga, Spain as I hunt down a rare and beautiful BMW specimen: 1992 E31 850i with a 6-speed manual gearbox and sunroof delete. As I discovered later, it was owned by a family of artists who are related to the famous painter Pablo Picasso. Sadly, the 8er has been heavily neglected and its last technical inspection dates back to 2004.

I wish i could have one in the future
Not all please i want one 😅 got a good friend in Málaga
i dont care how slowly you make videos they are all literally the best.
Agreed. Take the time, yt algorithm may not prefer it but hey...
Slowly is how we liked
Totally agree!!
I love how the first thing u do is take out that fake m badge 😂😂😂 #Respect

That is a must do

Oooohhh!!! Im from Malaga!!! If would know that you were coming, I would have help you with the spanish!!
Not sure what do you mean, I'm fluent in Spanish. Lol, cheers, much appreciated!

Of all of the classic car restoration channels on CZcams I've seen, Yours is the best. I like your understated style and professional approach to a project without any drama; just straightforward analysis and then resolution of the problem. Very well done.
i bingewatched a bunch of your vids, and you have given me the spark to fix minor problems with my own cars, thank you !
WHAT! "Hobby, this is a hobby." You are as good as any mechanic I've ever seen.
No apologies required for the frequency of your videos. Quality over quantity for me every time and this latest vid does not disappoint. Great to see another E31 saved, they are fantastic motors. In the UK there are very few, most E31’s I come by are 840’s. No bad thing but nothing beats that 5litre V12. Hope you have an easy, straightforward job on this one and look forward to the next upload.
Cheers!
Is this area nice?
Today, No. 😂😂 EPIC
what does that mean?
[La purga se intensifica]
I think all of us undestood WHY is this area /today/ not so nice 😷
haaa
I don’t understand
You my friend are definetly out of your bloody mind taking into account how many BMW's you own, and I can't lie, I WISH I had them all. Love your content.
who else is binge watching M539 restorations videos in 2021 during lockdown 3.0 ???
Love your content and story telling style. Take your time, I'll wait as long as it takes you to make the next episode.
This makes me want to go hunt for old german cars.
Man, the way he describes the interior is like, exactly how my first bmw grabbed me.
To me, it's the most beautiful BMW of all time.
Great work! Keep saving these magnificent cars you're a hero. You've got a ton of work here but a v12 with a manual gearbox it'll be so worth it. Can't wait for parts 2,3 and 4 👍👍👍
Thanks, Matthew!
“First things first...”
Love it!!
I don't own a BMW but I enjoy watching your videos. Cheers and let's see some more.
Spain, from what i can see is stunning..architecture sublime...clean and appealing..i am envious...

Awesome content as always! Your sense of humor is appreciated.
My boss had one of those about 1994 in Munich. I drove with him together many times in that car and it was a real joy. Enjoy the ride! (and yes, I noticed this video is already 3 years old)
Stunning effort to save this original piece of motoring history!! Wish they would be more guys like yourself about! I am also fighting for the survival of my E34 540i, great cars, build to last!!
4:50 "I don't know why I did that" had me dead hahaha
Love the new purchase. IT here too...cloud architect. Love my German cars!

man, i wish i had the mechanical car knowledge that this guy has.
would open up a whole world of possibilities when purchasing cars.
thank you for rescuing these beautiful machines, i don't understand how people can let them go like this.
I'm from the UK I know of an abandoned 840 in Spain for many years

Just found this part 1, great videos and loved the "Malaga music" excellent, I nearly bought a used 840 many years ago but people and a few mechanics were concerned about cost of running etc so settled eventually for a beautiful 628CSi, that eventually gave a few corrosion problems so swapped for a 325iSE that I still have after over 20 years, a loyal and great drive, and love to bits still.
I like the idea of you taking those M badges off as a first thing ! Tells a lot about you.
If theres something thats not belong on the car originaly, hurts my eyes too.So well DONE!
This top gear/grand tour style intros are very good.
I'm not sure how I found your channel but I'm happy I did. Great content and excited to watch it grow. I love Mercedes and you made me fall in love with the Bimmers
All the way from Brazil and absolutely love this travel/buying vlogs. Keep up the great work and I'm waiting anxiously for the next episode!
9:55 I love that wheel, the tyres thiccness is perfect! Like a W140 Merc.
Any description that expresses maximum admiration, goes for you! You are the perfect example i really whant to follow. The best of luck in your hobby!
I really love these detective stories. Nice job saving it. My first and only BMW was a 2002. I think Picasso owned it...
YES! A new video!!!!!!
(looks like Spain is the home of several neglected BMW's.....)
haha the good old oil cap sniff test. Awesome video.
Greetings, I'm a new subscriber, found the videos about the black E31 from Malaga and watched them thru. I once owned and drove a 1998 750iL which I adored. The intake manifold started leaking and my mechanic quoted me $3000 to fix it but couldn't promise it would smog after the work. So, sadly, I had to let it go. Really miss the smooth torque and silent power of that car! Thanks for saving the BMW V12s!
I love the fact that the first thing you did with the car is removing the fake M badges! :) Always a pleasure to watch your videos!
A great find and a great backstory!
Thanks for this trip along with you, love it!
I already know you will be a great new owner of this very rare car and get it to original.
Please, more updates and great videos, this one was especially entertaining and informative! :)
It is genuinly amazing that it was bought new right there in Frankfurt
Don't worry about being slow with the video release brother. It's the quality of your work that will attract people, not the quantity. Brilliant stuff.
Thank you!
Amazing find! The 8 series was always my favorite!
I like the intro 😂😂 i'm excited about this one. Can't wait for part two 👍👍

This looks exactly like the 850i I had, but in a better shape and with a honest seller!
Love your channel bro. Respect from New Zealand!
From Australia: great job on all your videos👌
i came here from recommended videos this guy seems like a great mechanic but when he talked so passionately about the smell of rich Corinthian leather and how he loved it this man stole my heart subbed * ty for the vids sir
Svaka ti čast Sretene , najbolji bmw ikad napravljen . I danas žalim što sam ga prodao pre 18 godina. Pozdrav 👍
As an American the thing that really caught my eye was the 5th gen camaro sitting outside of your shop. It must be a rare sight in Germany, is that your car? Hahaha
It's from my landlords brother. It's a cool car :)
I love it!!! ♥️ great job
I had wach your other videos about this car.
Never in my life been able to afford such a beauty, may not be soon too.. Even this days technology, modern cars still somehow not as attractive as this master piece. So since my childhood is my only car that undoubtedly being in love.
I would like to thank you for your efforts,
those videos are lovely to wach, your work skills are precise, and nice to see you know what you are doing.
All the best.

I do follow your channel. E31 and E24 are the best BMWs ever designed. All the best.
Cant wait to watch it. 😎
Damm, that's literally 20 minutes from where I live. Would've love to guide yo around and help you translate! On the other hand, startign to hate you a bit for 'stealing' all our local e31's! But at least it its going on very good hands.
I appreciate it! Plenty of them left :)
@@M539Restorations let me know if you come to Málaga or Barcelona for vacations at some point, could show around or help with the next deal ;)
@@M539Restorations No there aren't LOL. I live in Germany, I drive daily and I see maybe one or two 8 series a year. They are incredibly rare. I see more Aston Martins than classic 8 series.
I love these cars, I had an 840 1996 Boston green. I loved the features like pop up lights, auto closing windows at 100mph.
Y matrícula de Madrid!! TREMENDO!!! Cojo sitio!! ;)
love your videos my man. just for info, how much is a fully restored e31? ballpark me. id love to have one one day.
Depends on your location and a lot of things but I'd say good 850i 6-speed. 25-30k.
8 years ago a Nissan dealer had one close to my home in the Netherlands.
6000 euros..
My dad still regrets he didn't buy it.
For some reason the dealer didn't know how special it was.
@@M539Restorations that is not much...ok price...
@IMIV CNTRY lmao y r u so mad.
I own a 1991 with all records since new. I love the car and have owned it for 17 years. Still smile every time i drive it
Cool dude!!, what a nice car, you have a good salary, this things are very expensive, and tooo much expensive for maintain and restore
.
I mean its not too different in price from a regular new family car. It just depends if youre willing to make a sacrifice to buy a car like this. Has nothing to do with big salary mate.
Not if you can do 80-90% of the work yourself.
Cheers I look forward to the next video
Super videos 👍 👍 👍
Thanks. BMW FOREVER
Ahh now it makes sense, quite clearly Picasso did the repair himself while in his postmodernist phase.
God I need a manual e31 in my life
Got one 🤣🤣🤣
You need to face reality that you never gonna get one!!!
Meeting nice people always adds value to a car. And this is the part that really touches me the most, even when the price/value ratio is not the best... but you got everything with this one!
Exactly!
Great video!👍Love the E31! Had a tobagoblue -93 850csi with black/blue interior and 18" bbs wheels 20years ago.... beautiful car! 👌
4:37 IT Engineering that speaks , Spanish, English and German?
Plus his native language of Serbo-Croatian..
Plus hes fixing bmws like its no biggie
Also Italian
it's not uncommon for people to keep their old cars that may or may not run until they die. their survivors have no such attachment and simply want to, understandably, turn them into cash. i suspect that when i go i'll have more than a few items of absolutely no interest to those who will inherit my belongings too. it's comforting to know that there may be a second chance for them. such items are often offered at reasonable prices that the original owner would never consider, even though the item may ostensibly be for sale. will be following the journey with this one. good luck.
BTW, are you planning to corner the market on these v12s with manual and then charge exorbitant prices for them to line your pockets with the millions they will bring, or is this just for fun? .... never mind, i think i know the answer. :)
Cant wait for your next video
Ich finds so cool, dass du dich so mit wirklichen Ikonen auseinandersetzt und vielen von uns so einen detaillierten Einblick ermöglichst!
Weiter so!
Big shout out from Zimbabwe. I'm an economist but have taken up mechanics as a hobby. I mostly work on bikes although I try to get my hands on anything. I'm learning a lot here. Keep up the good work!
Great video man. Remembering that half of the fun is not the chase. Cheers.
Im from Malaga, glad to see you arround enyoing!

Heya, e36 325i guy here and your recent fan. I got hospitalised yesterday (nothing terminal as far as I know :P) and today my new favorite chanell releases new video... You really made my moment :)
I even let the adds play out... Both of them... Even the long one.
Fun fact, last thing I did before hospital was some screwing around bmw. Oh yes, and I'm full time in IT as well... Its okay, this won't be Stan (eminem ft. dido) moment even tho my wife is pregnant :P
Thanks for your support! I wish you a speedy recovery and many more happy miles in the E36!

Great prelude to Part 2.
IT here too. I miss working on cars and somehow I ended up on your channel and watching all your lovely videos on Sunday morning... keep making more videos. And I always wanted to own one of those v12. Maybe I'll buy one from you.
Look forward to next video. Who knows I might be inspired enough to get one myself
Love your format. Simple and to the point
CZcams recommendations give me obscure suggestions many times, but your video popping up in my feed are one of the times when the algorithm gets it right. I love cars, but I don't have the resources or the technical know-how, so watching videos of folks like you is really enjoyable as it is educational for me. Cheers from the Philippines, mate.
Congratulations... excellent job.... regards from Athens Greece.!!!
You like my country, Spain, i hope that you come back soon!!
My wonderful malaga
That's funny, I immediatly recognised the "Sanchez Ferrero" sticker on the rear glass. I have a E28 M535i, delivered in Spain in 1985, and it has the same one !
Another great purchase to rescue a great car, I recently got back from visiting Paisley Park in Minnesota and saw the late Prince BMW E31 a beauty this car is.
That car is bringing back memories my dad had one of the guys actually loved it would love another one
I like this type of video: Car related with a touch of travel.
Another 8 series: I surely do not complain. One of the all-time great...
There are some cars that deserve saving because of profit. There are some cars that deserve saving because of rarity. And there are some cars that deserve saving because you just have to do it :) Strong nerves and good luck, I am with you! :)
Since I've watched all videos of this channel and started watching once again it's so satisfying to see how Sreten is getting loose gradually with his humor by every episode! Love it :D
Thanks for rescuing another great 8. I'll be following...
