Bless their hearts. As someone that's known of the FLDS for years and years now, this docu was amazing and very informative (I got to learn new things I had no idea of prior). I can only imagine just how enriching this would be to watch if you're someone that had no idea of the FLDS. The ending of the docu was very emotional imo. I hope all the Ladies are well and have found their happiness.

I’ve been following her content for a while and as far as I know she has a very strong opinion about cults, having gone through one herself. I have never felt in any way forced to believe something while watching her, forced to worship her in any way (I don’t really as a matter of fact). In fact she herself says many times that we should question everything she says and find our own truth and answers and stop following her if we don’t find her teaching useful (which a cult leader would never say, and I’ve also unfollowed her for a while in the past because she was annoying me) Her methods have helped me immensely with my mental health, I met so many amazing people through her community.
So, why exactly is that a cult?
I do know that she has been portrayed like this (as a cult leader) in the media a few times, but if you just check out a little bit of what she is talking about, you’ll see that’s total bs, because she doesn’t meet any criteria for a cult (well maybe except the fact that she has a big following, but so does JK Rowling, Dalai Lama and The Catholic Church).

Sometimes I wish Netflix had a chat. I find myself wanting to say so many comments about this series. Man this guy was more evil than I even thought just hearing about him before. Sick monster. What a fake prophet. I too was stuck in a cult from ages 11 to 28. I can attest to the fact that it is so difficult to leave these cults. Because you get brainwashed with threats. But the main threat is you'll never see your family ever again. That one took me a decade to get past it in order to finally gain strength to leave. Literally it breaks you in half leaving them behind. Luckily my mom and rest of my sisters followed my lead but I lost my two older brothers bc they were married in the cult and grew to be loyal to their wives. I never talked with them since age 28 and I'm 56 now. Plus you are wracked with complex PTSD which you have to discover it is even a thing. Took more than a decade to admit my cult experience was worse than I imagined.

Polygamy worked in societies where men were regularly going off to war and being killed, which ensured there were always more women than men. Polygamy isn't sustainable in a peaceful society. You will *always* end up with 'surplus' men, which is exactly what happened with the FLDS. The only way the men in power could keep what they had going was to get rid of the men they saw as competition/threats, which were (no surprise) the young men in the community.

One thing that I remember vividly was a secret room the size of a small bedroom I think. That at one point held records from the FLDS church as to who Jeff’s was married to. I have an amazing story. One day I was driving home and I felt the presence of the Lord, come down to me from above. It was as real as anything and I felt so comfortable with Him.
I knew if I asked Him to play a song on the radio, He would.
So I said "Ok Lord, play Come as you are..."
I didn't know what station it was on or anything, but I turned the radio on and the song started playing right on the spot, perfectly...
I started getting flooded with chills inside, trembling, and crying tears of joy. When I got home, He stayed with me for 10 minutes till I got out of the car.
I've been getting amazing prayers answered for around 5 years since, because that experience made me stop doubting when I pray, and I follow Biblical instructions, best I can.

I too have had to make it right within my soul and take more responsibility that I didn't leave after I graduated from highschool. Yes I was isolated and separated from the world. Yes I didn't have knowledge that there would have been help if I just left but ultimately I know I'm my heart it couldn't have gotten that horrible and entangled if only I left sooner. I remember when this all came out. They scattered all the families to different cities. I never seen so many polygamist in my life. I remember my husband and I would run into them all the time.
Once we were at Walmart shopping 🛍 and there was a group of them leaving out the store ahead of us. There where 3 men walking in the front while the women were walking behind them. I kinda think this is something the women suppose to do. The men are more superior than the men so the women walk behind them. You could tell it was purposely.
Another time i remember at walmart once i saw the women again and my attention was very fixed on the way they dress👗 and I couldn't help but to see how perfect their hair was pinned up. They very plain, minded their own business, and were very quiet. The little girl was so cute. She very well behaved, well dresses, holding her mom's hand. It was almost like they had never been to Walmart before.

I’m a man from the flds and you’re right the women are supposed to be guided by and even take direction from the men when he’s placed in charge. Women generally are told not to go out into the world without the presence of a man for protection unless there’s not a man available. The reason men are always in front is because the leaders don’t want the young men to gaze at the women from behind. We’re trained to sit in front of the women when seated in church and even when riding in vehicles it’s boys in front girls in back so we can’t stare at their body’s from behind. Or at least what you can make out of them under the dresses. They told us we were to be raised like calves in the stall which refers to the males being completely separate from females until you’re assigned in marriage.
