When I was young, maybe around 5-7, I was watching Ice Age in my parents room and I had a seizure. Went to the hospital and they didn't find anything wrong with me. Henceforth my mom forbade me to watch Ice Age, so for the most part I never watched them growing up.

When I was little me and my cousin stayed at my grandmother's house for a week. She rented all of the Ice Age movies out at that time bc she figured that's what us kids would like. We watched the first one with her and she loved it so much that she had us marathon the rest of them with her. My grandmother unironically loves the Ice Age media franchise.
I have a similar story. I used to go camping with my brothers and grandparents. (Of course, it wasn't actually camping. There were shops and playgrounds and a lot of people. And electricity, but not internet.) We had a DVD player and a bunch of movies. We had movies like Up and Ratatouille, and also most of the Ice Age movies. (I specifically remember that we had the third one, which we watched a bunch of times. No wonder it's my favorite Ice Age movie.) Eventually, we stopped going to the campsite and I kinda forgot about Ice Age. But then I watched the fifth movie in 2016, but forgot about it again after that. But a few months ago, I was sleeping over my best friend's house and were looking through her movies to see which ones we wanted to see. She had some of the Ice Age movies, and we were so happy. (She has the first, third, and fourth one. And also the Christmas sub-film.) A week ago, I re-watched all the Ice Age movies. (But not in order, for some reason. This was the order: third, fifth, second, first, and fourth.) And yesterday, I watched all the Ice Age movies with my younger brother and best friend. (But in order this time.)

6:55 I also noticed this before that the characters of Manny and Sid and their character dynamic are pretty similar to Shrek and Donkey. Diego is also similar to Puss in Boots in the way they both originally were introduced as villains but changed sides and joined the main characters, their interaction with Sid/Donkey, and they are both cats.

This poor franchise got so derailed. We went from three friends on a quest to get a baby back to the humans (which COMPLETELY disappear from all sequels), to trying to avoid the apocalypse because Scrat messes around in a god damn UFO.
Not to mention he apparently created the continents AND the Solar System.
...Not sure if they're gonna make a sixth film, but please, just kill this franchise already.

Sid's story is just as depressing as Manny's when you think about it. He even references them in the 1st movie. They're easily my least favorite characters.

Ice age 5: Way too many animals trying to save the world from a meteorite by dumping magnetic crystals into a volcano while some random birds want to kill them and sloth gets a lady.

I only like the first two movies. Dawn of the Dinosaurs was meh, Continental Drift was horrible, and I will never see Collision Course.
I think 3 of the movies is my nostalgia but the 4th one is decent. The 5th is pretty weird with the Star Wars reference and the plot all out of place in a badly hilarious way and it's pretty bad.

Even though I'm late,I just wanna say that Ice Age was one of the best series I grew up with a child. It entertained me,made me laugh,made me cry,etc. I hope we can all appreciate it for what it is as a series and pass it on to our loved ones for them to enjoy. The first *A Ice Age* (2002) is a film presiding over what it intends to do, it brings a whole message about respect and acceptance to unconventional families or groups formed by respect and admiration for each other, this is something that the sequences of these movies end up breaking the messages of the first movie because they are mostly based on creating girlfriends for the protagonists, leaving their family a little more conventional in comparison.
It reminds me a lot of those Disney movie Home-Video sequences like 'Brother Bear 2' or 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2', where in the first movie we have narratives where the protagonists refuse to standardize their stories and end up in favor of their self-respect and admiration of their friends (even because the story is not about that) but in the end they get off on the f*ck and give romantic interests just to try to find a reason that can sustain the existence of these unnecessary sequences from the beginning .
And even on a smaller scale, it reminds me of a thing like Woody Woodpecker and Bugs Bunny, who used to star in a bunch of skits where they were crossdressing and kissing everybody around, and then a whole lot was created around the possibility of both being gay or pan, and to avoid that, they invented creating in the late 90's female versions of them, just to convey a more cisgender and heterosexual association of both.
I honestly have no recollection of that baby at all, I honestly think I completely blocked him out cause I watched this movie like a million times as a kid

Ice age did the villains better than most movies to be honest, they're not really villains they're antagonists and Diego is conflicted about helping them or helping Manny and Sid. Yeha like you said they're not evil or anything, they just want justice. I loved Ice age growing up, still do :)
