- Racing simulator Le mans ultimate has had its most recent update drop so I jumped in and tested it out to then be able to give a too honest view of things from a grumpy old bald tea drinker.

It still chugs a tiny wee bit when I pass the pits at Le Mans (totally fine everywhere else), which grinds my gears somewhat. Plenty more optimisation needed, therefore, but it is heading in the right direction. Replay mode is nicely done.
the art car is an awesome and rare tradition, even if it is hit and miss. Would rather have it than not. cheers
Where did I say they should not have it ?
Also what if not having it allowed for something else ?
Why not have all cars as "art cars" are all car livery's not also all art liveries anyway , why and where to draw the line ?
I'm not sure if having abstract or "art" liveries is really that rare , depends how you define it and in what context.
You have created a straw man hypothetical that you then answered which had nothing to do with the point in the video , which was in this case the specific art livery in my opinion looked terrible but which i also said did not matter because art is subjective and it was also a joke for the sake of mocking the pretentious nature of "art" and art culture.
I really love the 2010 BMW art car. So do I feel about the 1979 art car. In general I think there are more misses than hits, but I still find it refreshing to have something different.
@@GamerMuscleVideos Wow... That's an overreact and a half. In all honesty, you should consider playing some other genres of games for a month or two, strictly offline. Being a youtuber, especially covering the sim racing world, can be quite detrimental to one's health. Heck, forget the youtube part... Being somewhat active in sim racing, period, can be quite stressful.
As you might have guessed by now, English is not my native language. If I may sounded confrontational or condescending in my comment, that's far from my intention. I'm trying to be helpful. I'm well into my 40s and decided to take a complete brake from the community for a few years. For the last 10 or 15 years, the sim racing community became a toxic wasteland. It's not worth the bother anymore, people in general forgot how to be helpful, empathetic and caring to each other. I really miss the time when it was a welcoming niche hobby on the fringes of the internet, barely receiving any kind of coverage, if that at all.
Best regards and all the best to you, my sim-racing friend.
@@GamerMuscleVideos Most car liveries are graphic design. Graphic design isn’t necessarily art (though it can be). Spot the difference?
Nice summary, looking forward to seeing how it shapes up over time - no guarantee it will of course, but I recommend watching an interview on traxxion with the boss too, sounds pretty humble and realistic with goals
Played an offline race yesterday and had a lot of fun. Yes it's still unstable and missing basic features (like no meaningful audio mixing options - I want the opponents cars louder ffs), yes it doesn't run that well, but... For the price it's a great deal. The AI is actually really good, online is actually really good (when it doesn't crash), it looks great, it has the best night/day cycle, the audio is great and the selection of cars is fantastic too. If they manage to polish it up into a finished product it'll be impeccable as a WEC sim.
For the price, even as EA title it's a great deal.
Acc was also pretty shit on release but it has become one of the best sims so there still a chance to become great
1 car and 1 track, people forget how ACC was in EA... can’t wait to see reactions when AC2 will be lunch in EA 😅
The AI seem a bit unpredictable, though, yeah? Also, they seem ridiculously fast off the race start. Clearly I haven’t gotten the hang of it yet.
Like always, top video! Pro's & Cons in same video, worth to watch.
I'm sorry, how many cups of tea do I need to make? I kinda lost count at the end there.
Thanks for the update.
Hard to appreciate the amazing trees when the floating name tags take up 30% of the view.
There is no way to disable them? I AC you can do that.
Of course you can disable names. Gotta laugh at some of these comments. 😂
@@buddy5088Half of these comments make me question if anyone actually play the sim or just gets their opinion from CZcams videos....
so turn them off lol
🙄
The replay system is very nice, it pushes LMU much closer to a premium product keeping the main part preserved, that it's so much fun to race online! I'm so tired of iRacing from the esthetics to the bad ffb and tire model, I have adopted LMU to be my go to online sim.
have u tried turning on Use Constant Steering Force Effect? might have the more detail u r looking for?
I got done at chicane we was pretty close at end I believe 7th 8th I think. Felt ok tbf, need VR big time J.
What are the player numbers like because everyone I know who bought early access has already stopped playing.
I think Le Mans Ultimate makes a very good impression for its current state and I hope the developers continue as before. I just hope they implement DLSS+FG/FSR+FG soon to counteract the FPS drop in the rain and at night.
FG is not really helpful in sim racing, as it increases latency.
@@LupusAries Okay, can you explain why? To be honest, I don't understand why it would increase the latency. I thought FG (Frame Generation) would just insert artificially created fps between the calculated ones to create a purely visually smoother experience. As far as I understand, the latency per second is always the same, because FPS already says per second, regardless of whether it is 80fps without FG or 120fps with FG. Thanks for your help
@@silbirobi To make it very simple, even that frame has to be created and computed, and that takes time. It is mainly a technology to make a game appear smoother.
So you might get something that looks like 80 or 90 fps when you are still at 60 fps but you will get the same latency of 16.67ms as at 60 ms.
However that is an ideal scenario, the issue is that the frame still needs to be computed so you will get a bit of latency on top.
In short the game will look like 80 or 90 fps, but the latency will be something like 10-20% higher.
The video "Fake Frames or Big Gains? - Nvidia DLSS 3 Analyzed" by hardware unboxed has a pretty good explanation.
Then there is this one: "AMD AFMF TESTED - AMD Fluid Motion Frames is WILD… (LATENCY + FPS)" where they get 19.8-19.9 ms in Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077, not racing games but it illustrates the point.
So it takes around 53-57 ms to render an input instead of 33.37 (which already is the equivalent of the render time for 30 fps.).
Since driving in sims is very dependant on the latency it is often better to just use the upscaler or drop settings to get a higher framerate, as that will not just reduce the until displayed latency, but also the application and input latency.
Also it can be beneficial to frame limit or if you have g-sync/freesyn/or adaptive sync with a variable refresh rate to run that on vsync, as that will also reduce the latency.
A lower until displayed latency makes you see things earlier, and a lower input latency transfers your inputs faster into the game.
So you correct better and overcorrect/hunt less.
What is your set up for monitors?
You’ve no idea how quickly and happily I’d pay mega money for this game if it had functional VR and all of its problems rectified. Can’t wait for this to be a big part of my future
I love the artwork
Why do GTE cars crash into me when I’m in a hyper car? It makes no sense that the GTE can pass any hyper car I’m in on any straight
My pc sure had trouble with LMU, just because it has a GTX1650 (i7 12th gen, 16mb). Still, the game has potential. Racing is goooood
Is it worth getting it now? Or just wait a little longer until its polished more? Because i dont think bases on what ive seen its up there with acc yet, still needs some tweaking which is fair enough.
Probably 12 months until it's as polished as ACC
havent tried but by the looks, they just took the best things of all the sims and made this :D If it drives as Iracing is a W, as it looks better, then it has that AC kind of hud which is W as well and if its only £25, then its another W !
load time is still very long and im now finding game stutters. Guessing that the stuttering is my graphic settings though? But wasnt doing it before
Or your SSD? I load Spa in 18sec in online.. Offline is longer
@@DuM3D0 only offline lemans takes a couple of minutes. No other sim takes very long. So assuming just this one has maybe more info to load?
@@machinecult presumably yes, I mostly use online, but I can tell that there is a notable difference between online and offline load timing, at least for me.
This game engine always had long load times. Makes me never want to play it.
@@lechug43 im assuming it will get better, its still early days
i found the game runs better. i had to turn things down before and lock to 100 fps. now i can use the ultra preset and can lock to 120 (3440x1440p with RTX 3070ti) and they added replays finally.
I'd like to know Devins' thoughts after 1hr testing GamerMuscle..
Devin is only allowed in the cellar due to him agreeing iracing had bad physics but him then thinking LMU FFB is better than AC , His gulag train ticket is in the post basically.
@@GamerMuscleVideos I heard Michi Hoyer is feverishly punching buttons at an S-Bahn ticket machine to bail him out, sooner than you might think 😂
@@GamerMuscleVideos German trains never actually arrive so I guess I get to stay here 😇
The biggest issue, that doesn't affect europeons, is all the online race servers are in Europe. I have trouble believing that studio 397 thought that was a good strategy when there are probably as many, if not more sim racers, in the US. And don't forget Australia, oh wait, they did forget the aussies.
Before the update i had 40 fps in lowest settings 1440p. I have an rx 7800 xt and an i7 8700k. I know its an old cpu but still..... 40 fps is really bad. Going to try it out now and see how it runs.
6700xt, ryzen 5 5600, 1440p low setting - except materials set to high, stable 220 fps for me (online). Yes youread that right, 220 fps not 120 fps.
Is weird but for me the ffb is the best part of the game. Maybe is the base (I have a Simucube 2) but the details are the more detailed I've ever felt (even Daniel Morad said that have too many different details😅). Is true that if you like a super powerful ffb to fight with it, this game doesn't have it, well can have it but then if you crash, get off track or step over kerb the wheel is out of control and can brake your hand). But everyone has their own tastes I suppose.
dude is that fish taxidermy?
Please... Please help us with your video config... Pleaseeeeee 🥺
Does anyone else feel like the car is floaty when they drive and when you drive high speeds the car seems like it wants to spin?
the ffb in hyper cars feels lighter compared to gte, perhaps it makes the sensation of floatiness.
I'm really shocked you don't like the BMW livery.
It looks like something I'd do 🤣
It looks absolutely atrocious :>
RiP Jerry West
Are the loading times stil.....long?
They're meh
Haven't changed
Yup. It's an rFactor2 thing afaik. The loading is single threaded so if your cpu has good single threaded perf it is better. It's no AC though
Have not timed it but feels like about 20-40 seconds to load into a track on my pc
Game load shaders 1st time u run a track, it take time but afters this it’s much more quick
ya the wall art car is like AC's as race sim LOL.
To honour the fact it's the IRL Le Mans 24hr this coming weekend, any chance you could please start pronouncing it as "Luh Mon", i.e., the "S" is silent.Or not, just a suggestion.
+1
Doubt it though. GM reminds me more and more of the ExplainingComputers guy 😆
even the "n" is not pronounced

@@sameerhanna6065 you'd better tell the French
@@slatanek If you mean Christopher Barnett, I actually used to know that guy. Haven't seen him in years and had no idea he was still making those videos.
How completely random 🤣
Le mą
It’s easy
I bought it last night, couldn’t stand it… got my refund. it’s not terrible but the graphics are brutal… handling was decent but the game was choppy AF. Really made me appreciate AMS2 so much more. Maybe this game will be after early access.
Not even half a day, and you have already made your opinion, you are lazy.
It certainly isn't a title for a potato pc
I can't stand AMS2 with it's crooked physics. AMS1 was one of the best, AMS2 is worse than the rest 😉
I run it on max setting on a 4090 and I have no issue.
Well running at max on the strongest gpu on the market doesn't say much

You know you lost the rear about 15 times in one lap (just counted one of them at random) I thought I’d compare it to the the real thing the rear is lost twice per lap and barely noticeable too. In LMU it’s almost a drift through some of the corners.. how can people not see this it’s awful how unrealistic these sims are
update change that. and i was at le mans last week, and i can say, all car have a small rear drift in all pushing corner.
just watch "KEVIN ESTRE / HYPERPOLE" and wheel work to see how much car is drifting when we push
i seen on their official discord channel that LMP2 is currently broken. I'm personally having a blast with GTE (online) and Hypercar driving feel.
nice video ,
but the FFB part, you should prescise that you use a Moza DD, means poor detail in it compare to better DD on a market like Simucube, VRS or Asetek who deliver way more detail than any other brand .
I have 6DD wheels , RF2 has always had relatively lacking detail in it's FFB
Moza is also quite a popular brand so there is no real excuse.
The moza R12 also works perfectly fine with iracing , ACC ,AC , AMS1 , AMS2
So it's an LMU or RF2 issue not a moza issue.
Same arguments were made for RF2 in 2012 with Logitech G25...
Are those 6 DD wheels one of those brand i quote ?
Comparing fanatec, Moza, Thrustmaster and like also simagic ffb detail , to VRS, Simucube and asetek is like saying " playstation 1 had the same graphics and detail of the playstation 3"
i'm not saying the wheel is not good or there is something wrong with it , just saying that the feeling/detail you get is limited because of the materiel you use !
2012 RF2... , technology where different and they were not as much choice as today, tyre model was bad etc different time !
i like your work but everyone who's givin his opinion on ffb stuff never prescise what materiel they uses or compare those detail between those different quality material in the same sim !
I use simucube sport, i disagree with you argument on those ffb detail because i get those detail your missing,
I guess you know about those encoder differences call "resolution"
@@xealis9024 I have a G293,T300,CSLE,CSLDD , DDPRO ,OSW , MOZA R12 , SIM X ACUFORCE WHEEL.
LMU is very much based on RF2 tech and has very similar characteristics and nature especially its ffb.
I have also used RF2 on some private rigs and with a whole bunch of different wheels.
You need to play AC 1 with a proper set up wheel once you have you will notice how lacking LMU FFB is.
I also know multiple other people that also own real race cars and they share the same view as me so its not "just me"
@@GamerMuscleVideos so like i said all your wheel have (at best) 12 bit encoder / 10k ppr …
While all those 3 brand i quote get a 22bit encoder / 4.2 million ppr …
I probably get a better experience on AC1 ( i play it and en enjoy it ) then you, but still compare to RF2/lmu it feel less detail !
@@xealis9024 The difference in encoder is utterly negligible to the effect of ffb relative to the fundamental ffb that a video game puts out to a wheel.
If a SIM generates massively less dynamic or detailed ffb it won't matter what wheel base you use assuming the wheel base is say a CSLE or better or not a totally broken DD with super messed up settings.
I'm.not talking about super subtle aspects of ffb here.
Sure some motors and encoders will effect things but to a degree that's probably less than 1% of the relivent forces that pertain to ballencing a car at the limit and having detail for what the car is doing.
Given that these Sims should still have dynamic range and information on things like a t300 and even a G25 splitting hairs with DDs is absurd.
Again separate to wheels I have used for 100+ hours each I have used just about every wheel on the market for at least an hour or so with multiple Sims.
No VR* No Buy 😎.... (working VR*)
U can already play the game in vr
@@def3576 Have you tried? It looks like absolute ass. Not worth playing, GT4 in PSVR1 looked better
@@def3576 Says the person that didn´t try it. Looks like pure garbage.
They are working on it and also online driver swaps for long endurance races.

I honestly didn't want to comment but you said that "art is subjective" right after saying "It looks like crap". That shit actually pisses me off, yes art is subjective and if you agree you shouldn't make an objective statement about it. And nobody forces you to like the livery. I think it looks good, you don't and that't perfectly fine. Don't fucking pretend that you have to like it because it's art.
Well, I think the game is not as good as you all make it. Especially the performance is terrible. The game crashes a lot, the force feedback is just ok. It’s barely playable..
I thought RF2 FFB was supposed to be really good, why is LMU’s bad?
It’s not. Its really bad
@@Br1am O 💀
M4 class 1 in RF2 has the best FFB of any sim, many cars have very good FFB of AC level, and also many cars have subpar FFB... So... it's a capable engine but with mixed results due to incompetence.
too me its the same as RF2 , people are weird or have only 10 minuite patience to setup lol
Still best ffb game for me on simucube 2 pro. LMU rules. Only not a fan of lmdh cars still. Lmpt2 and gte are great.
Best sim ever!
This game looks better than AMS 2 bro from the time it came out just its not well optimized like AMS2
I think it looks better than AMS2. Not a huge fan of how madness games look.
Braking still sucks!
i'm getting used to gte cars and I think their braking is great tho
I'm surprised this is still getting attention when it has the least number of players of all racing games (including arcade racers), is still a mess, and is still a terrible single-player game. Even Raceroom has more users, and that sim gets virtually no coverage.
raceroom has more players on their free tracks doing meaningless things.... But despite the low player count in LMU, I almost always race with full grid and multiple splits at least in beginner class
It's just....mediocre. Obviously outdated both in terms of graphics and physics.
If you ever watched Le Mans then you should know how aggressively drivers attack the curbs and have side to side close moments... And just like that CZcamsrs simply overrated fake reviews who try to compare Le Mans environment from this game to another game. The game looks fantastic even if you cry all those minutes... Get some job at least.
The guys that cry for vr and console version have become boring
when this guy start spreading his opinion about ffb like if it was a fact is time to move to another video. Its like your preference bro, but even as a kunos fan, ac is not by far the best ffb
You need to worry about games less and hit the gym more
The game is such a f'n trash honestly. The driving experience is great but all the rest is just huge pile of bugs. I hope I'm wrong but based on the history this studio will again waste this great code like they did with rFactor2
