Thanks for watching ! - Was a fun live stream yesterday I was asked a few hundred times what I thought and if it was worth getting , so this video basically answers those people and helps those of you working out if its likely to be good to get.
Thank you middle aged bald man.
Is it worth getting?!
@@Kireth You need an air fryer
@@GamerMuscleVideos ok going to Currys
Bro you’ve got a 5800x3D not a 3800 😂
You'll hate this, GM, but this is honestly the most balanced review of the LMU early access I've seen. So balanced in fact that I'm unsubscribing as it's totally out of character and not what I expect from you 😉
By the way I have no idea if airfryers are the best as I don't have a clue as to what they are, other than something that goes in that funny and confusing room called a kitchen.
I think it's worth it... I'm a sucker for Hypercars and it's good enough of a racer to keep me happy
idk though dawg, iracing has lmp3/2/1, AMS2 has SEW MANY MORE TRACKS and so many other cars, assetto corsa has the usual infinite content and strong physicals of physics - perhaps this game will eventually be too good to ignore, but putting up with early access stuff is just not a good idea, I'm sorry. Buy it if you want to support them, but it's kind of crazy to deal with a new game's lack of content. If you don't own AMS2 and iracing, then perhaps - but no matter how big of an LMP fan you are, eventually you want to tool around in a sf-23 or some brazilian stock car nonsense or a miata
I started typing this message as the video started and now that I've stopped clacking away furiously, it sounds like gaymer muscle is saying essentially what I am, but more eloquently, so yea. I think he's right.
@@hansolo631 iracings expensive asf tho
Air fryers are the best .... sometimes. Also as someone who has a raging hatred of the psychopathic infinite grip AI of rFactor 2, i was pleasantly surprised by the AI in LMU.
Very, very fair and balanced review. I feel a lot of the single player performance issues are down to the number of cars that you cannot edit, if you do a race including all three classes, and why wouldn't you want to do that. Running all three means that 60 AI cars get dumped on the track. Given that LMU is derived from rF2 that is a recipe for frames dive bombing south. Run a hypercar-only race and you get 15 opponents and all is good in the world and it runs like a champ. So MG/Studio 397 have done themselves no favours there. Obviously it has a long way to go and I initially I felt it was too far and refunded. I've since had a change of heart and repurchased, not least because there's already a hotfix, so I'm going to be with it for the long run. That may end in tears, seeing as it's an MG title, but as you say it really is inexpensive right now for what it could potentially be, so I'll just chalk it down to experience if it fails to ever hit the spot.
@RiverRunWild555 to be honest I had a trouble free evening with it last night, other than tendency of the AI to think they are bumper cars. I just toned down a couple of the more fancy settings, couldn't notice the difference visually. It now runs very well indeed. Overall I'm happy with it after, what, two days of early access.
So it should have just be an update and DLC pack for rF2?
i believe it's a commissioned product (by whoever runs the ELMS) so for that purpose it's standalone
Naaaaa.
Well the company was going bust and this is just another revenue stream they are trying to create. It wont last!
As an rF2 fan I can say that you won't get the same experience, features, depth, content quality, AI and the incredible sound, at all in rF2 nor anywhere else, not for the bargain that it is. It has all cars+tracks+all skins of the 2023WEC season. And that's the whole point of this title going forward. Sure it has rF2-ishness to it but you can compare it a bit with how GTR2 was compared to rF1. Nobody calls GTR2 an rF1 DLC these days.
Exactly. Expansion at best, with less function. RF2 is better.
The thing I'm worried about lmu is the rf2titus. The way (under isi and s397) rf2 devs just release something that barely works and then say they are going to patch it later. The way they call things alpha or beta features. And then they just don't fix it until years later and leave it as is. Sometimes a simple update can break something in the game and they take multiple years to fix it. And the thing they release is sorta something but not quite it.
With rf2 it almost feels like as soon as something barely loads into the game the feature is finished and they just move on. The feature needs to function the way it was intended. Not barely as implemented. There is a huge difference there.
With lmu that needs to change. They need to get rid of that old isi mindset where they just ignore their own product and the userbase and do whatever they feel deserves the time of day. Their goal should be to release fully implemented features and fix stuff that is causing issues with the current status of the game. Basic game development. if they break something they need to fix it next. Not years down the line. A solution to a problem is not a workaround or "don't do that". Annoynances needs to be fixed, not tolerated indefinitely.
And they need to do that because the "isi way" kills simulators. Nobody is going to wait years for small change in code to fix an obvious issue when there are other simulators to play. The game is released now. It needs to show improvement now. I'd guess it all depends what kind of game they are building with lmu. If they are heavily limited by rf2 and want to keep the code bases for both games nearly identical then all hope is lost already. Because if they couldn't fix all these issues with rf2 then with 2 games they have just no chance. I hope I'm wrong and the next update is a big list of fixes and small list of new features.
So now the dust as settled and had time to properly digest, hit or a miss ?
Air fryers ARE the BEST!!! Love your content James, made my day!
I'm having problems with LMU I haven't seen mentioned anywhere lol. When I play the game it keeps somehow changing my (fantatec) pedal strength to 50%. I go to check in the fantatec software and it has changed my settings! I change it back to 100% then it works normally, then it happens again. Not sure how it can be changing my own fantatec settings.
Also the graphics look a bit grainy not like your vids even though I am on ultra, for example the white lines on track look pixelated and warped. I will try again after it has been patched more.
100% agree on the graphics looks. I always thought RF2 had the most realistic looking graphics, especially in VR. While it might not be the most beautiful, I think it is the closest to real life. I find it somewhere between iRacing, which is a bit too bland, and AMS2, which is a bit too glossy.
For VR I find the glove material quality in rF2 very underwhelming. Other than that it is fine.
This sim is more than promising! I purchaseed it and after only 30mins of spontaneous lapping around I was just impressed how good it is, already.
My pc is currently a buggy mess (built it last week) but when it has been running I’ve loved driving the game, really good FFB and the driving characteristics are so nice. A lot of potential in this!
air fryers are the best! i hope that keep developing the game and don't give up on the title, i've haven't played rf2 but i do like this sims.
Will you be playing LMU more regularly?
I have been loving the game myself but agree that not all people agree. Ran 3 online races and 2 single player last night and did not have any issues except had to change my json file to write to memory = true to get rid of slight freezing. After that it was wonderful
Air fryers are the best! Solid video and I think I'm convinced to take the plunge. £25 is a steal for whats on offer.
Airfryers are the very best, though im holding off maybe for a few weeks before purchasing. Good to see a hot fix so soon, I want to support it and buy it but dont want to be in a situation like WRC Generations where it got fixes for 2 months then abandoned haha
I think it makes sense for them to keep improving rf2 engine in LMU and maybe release RF3 in 2 years with redone car graphics and physics
I love the physics and FFB in LMU for the GTE class! It really telecasts when your grip is getting on the edge. The FFB starts getting twitchy and nervous and herky jerky! ACC, on the other hand, just falls off a cliff too suddenly. LMU lets me test the edge of grip and really sweat throughout the turn! I love that! I don't know if the physics of ACC or LMU is more accurate in real life, but LMU communicates so much more to me than ACC. Mabye LMU is AC or ACC in super easy mode. In AC or ACC, when you suddenly lose grip, you spin out, hit the wall, and it's over. But in LMU, it tells you so much earlier and the FFB starts degrading gradually... I don't know if that's accurate, but it's so guud feeling. (the GTE's. I tried the LMP class and found it undrivable. So that's my skill level.)
My biggest gripe about the LMU title is the same gripe against ACC. Because it's licensed, we most likely won't see an expansive track list or car list. Only what is licensed. That's a severe limitation. Also, for single player offline play, will there be a career mode? Will they allow track and car mods? (Nords??? Maybe GT4's?) If LMU does allow mods, This could be better than AC Evo!!! (ok, I have super unrealistically high hopes for AC Evo!)
Airfryers cause less crackling noise than whatever nuclear reactor meltdown caused your audio issues at some point in the video.
You need to disable post processing and then the performance is almost like rF2, it also solves the menu bug in-game as it deactivates the motion blur in the trackside cam.
I’ve done 2 hours and 1 race. Enjoyed it a lot. Couldn’t help wishing that it was running on the ACC setup with the tyre physics of 12 months ago though.
Air fryers are truly amazing. Less time preparing a meal, more time to chase all the achivements in Assetto Corsa.
On a more serious note I'm enjoying LMU so far, but I'm a bit lost on the default setups. Are they actually rubbish, or I am the one who can't heat up the tyres properly? What's the optimal pressure range, around 180 kPa?
Air fryers are the greatest!! Still trying to wrap my head around all the various reviews from one end of the gamut to the other
Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll wait and get the lemans DLC for AMS2 in the meantime.
Air fryers are the best!
GMV, how do the tire physics compare to the likes of iRacing? You would not beleive me, but i did enjoy you opinion. Thanks! :-)
does this look better than rf2? or does the dlc on rf2 looks same?
It definitely looks better. Relatively subtle, but definitely an improvement.
Air fryers are the best. Really useful video. Since I like rFactor 2 (decent physics and netcode) I think I'll like this. I don't care about all that other stuff.
We're all waiting for your AIR FRYER CLEANING video. After 13 hours of air frying it's about time. LMU looks great, all it needs is VR support with proper MSAA for me to enjoy it too.
I'm really enjoying this game even with its early access gremlins. I came home from work today eager to jump back in. Spent a good hour getting consistent laps in during a race against AI. Before this I was playing a lot of AMS2. The sim aspects of this game feel spot on to me considering it is early access.
Its a very good sim, the close racing with great car contacts make it worth the price alone, iRacing and Assetto corsa 1 have lost me out of pure frustration from this aspect. I'm getting addicted to racing LFM, for me the sound scape is much better than most sim titles but you are right it needs more polish on some cars.
Somehow, I got something worth while out of this review. Thanks for sharing. And ahhhh, Air Fryers are ahhhhhh something something watch more GM...right? 🙂
Wish i had one of those best air fryers. Ill wait until all the problems are fixed and until they add in proper endurance features such as driver swapping.
you need a top of the range air frier to get the endurance options 😉
Good review.
Just found my airfryer, bit Dusty but it doesn't affect the marvelous taste of my frikandel with mayonaise 😊
Air fryer abuse wont be tolerated here.
You are my favourite clown. The only reason I watch your videos is to see how many minutes you can go without telling how bad iRacing is, in fact I look forward to it and laugh so hard when finally you spit it out. I love you buddy I can't wait for your next video :D
Sounds like you don't own an air fryer but if you do its definitely under powered.
@@GamerMuscleVideos This guy definitely doesn't air fry.
@@GamerMuscleVideos This guy's air is definitely not fryed!
But how do you react when he praises iRacing, which he did several times in this video? If you watch long enough to hear iRacing praise, does that reset the clock and you have to keep watching to see how long until he tells how bad iRacing is again?
This guy has definitely spent more than 350 USD on copy-pasted cars. Tell your devs to crack open an IMSA rulebook and learn how the hyrbids work... Maybe the cars would be worth $15 a piece if they were properly modeled 😂
I haven't played yet but I think you missed the best feature - the HUD no longer looks incredibly ugly. I legit didn't wanna play rf2 just because of that
whatttttttttt..... That new s397 bar HUD thats on rF2 might be the best HUD I've ever seen for simracing... Not this ACC copy with one less decimal point on every calculation on your MFD. S397 kinda dropped the ball in certain parts of the the hud department this time IMO
Air fryers are the best .... I bought it on lunch because like you I don't have a value for life. This did remind me though of Simbin's classic titles like Race, Race 07, Race On, STCC, etc etc, simply put RF2.5 like you said
I'm one of the poor souls affected with rfactoritis and hate myself while loving this game and all it's flaws. Maybe today it will be a little better I tell myself...Great review
I spent about 8 hours in game and just couldn't get the FFB to feel good at all. I'm getting no info at all from the tyres into my wheel. Especially with the hypercars. They put out a patch today that fixes fanatec FFB, but I didn't find that to help at all. But other than that, I think it will be a good game when it's ready...
Air fryers are the best
Have you tried cranking up the car specific mulitplier in the ffb menu? Weak FFB in hypercars/fucked up FFB in general is a widely reported and known issue, atleast.
@@lenny7220 I did try that after I left this comment. It does help a bit, but the feedback sent to the wheel was still lacking in the hypercars. I haven't gotten on LMU for the last few updates, but I didn't see any FFB fixes in the patch notes. I think there are bugs for fanatec wheel bases.
Hopefully they get this sim up and running with no bugs and great game play. Hopefully it can be as good as an Air-frier. Because we all know Air-friers are the best. (I’m soooo misserrable, thanks GM).
Air fryers are the best. Here I am watching the video in my car before going to Sainsbury's to buy tea.
For the price of a track and and car in iRacing I think LMU is a no brainer. Even if it is half cooked.
Motorsport games is run by bunch of crooked dubious individuals. Just like most of Motorsport organizations. So this game is actually the most realistic one in that sense.
Please someone explain to me how every car sliding all over the track equals better physics than iracing? I uninstalled rfactor because i find it so unrealistic. I only have street car experience in real life, so this is a genuine question. Are those slick tyres really that slidey that as soon as you turn the wheel even just a bit it goes light and the whole car starts to slide as if on ice? Because that’s what happens in rfactor 2. I know it’s easier to control than the spinoffs in iracing, but that doesn’t make it more realistic. (That’s another problem for me, it feels as if on ice, but it’s still easy to control). If I get my rear wheels to slide in a street car, the steering doesn’t go light, I don’t even feel it on the wheel at all, it just goes and it took a while to get used to it and be able to recognize the feeling that the back is starting to go. It’s a lot more like that in iracing, but rfactor 2 is nothing like what I feel in real life. But those are just street tires, not racing slicks so are those tires really that extremely slidey? I mean they don’t seem to be just looking at them, but what do I know?
It's more realistic to have tires that are a bit less grippy and a bit more Slidy than real tires but still have the same general dynamics of real tires than to have tires that lack the core dynamic of being controllable on and over the limit within reason.
iracing as soon as you are at the limit the physics are nothing like reality , unfortunately in a race car the goal is to be driving at the limit , so iracing is totally broken in the most important part of where you drive.
In the opposite direction of iracing is AMS2 where it's like driving on snow , combined with some other wonky aspects to the physics.
AC1 is currently the most accurate sim in regards of having cars handle at the limit realistically though even that could be better.
iracing under the limit is great though , mix iracing with AC and and also make it a bit more snappy and were are golden.
@@GamerMuscleVideos thank you. I’m not going to argue due to lack of experience, so just thanks for the reply :)
I could buy a nice working non stuttering air fryer for that price
LOL!!!! Well I am one of those that got hit with a spade to my head!!!! I already know what I am going to do, I am one of the latter and will wait till the end of the year 2024 and see where the game at that time. Then see if STEAM has any sale prices around that time. Not sure what full price will be - don't care. I also want to make sure VR is implemented since I play RFactor and RFactor 2 in VR and enjoy them both.
Thanks for your video review of the game. Take care.
Just to add one last thing. I have RFactor 2 and do have all the same 7 tracks that are in LMU game. Why would I want to have a redundant game? Plus I do not do any online racing now. I just do offline racing for entertainment with RFactor 2. There are only 2-3 tracks I really care for in LMU so unless they add more track content to this game, they can keep it. Plus I don't like doing long races. 5-10 laps is good enough for me depending on size of the tracks and to drive some of the different race cars.
Another thing, I just wonder how many people are actually doing this game on a daily basis and will it last in the months to come. Seems too small a series and over time would get very boring to me . I will only get this game when it is on sale for 10 dollars on STEAM and just for another VR game.
Pff it’s such a difficult one this. There is so much to like about LMU already: The tracks are fantastically detailed and the cars are a joy to drive. But everything else is just not up to par at the moment. But given the fact that it’s an early access title now I would give it the benefit of the doubt
I read somewhere where someone said “people spends thousands of dollars on sim equipment but when it comes to spending $30 on the software they use their expensive equipment on they complain. Support the very people that make your expensive sim racing equipment serve its purpose.
I am definitely not saying air fryers are the best. A CZcamsr told me to say that, and we all know to never trust a CZcamsr.
Love the air fryer
Finally someone gives an honest review, regardless of whether you have a hair disability.
BTW, here in Argentina it has a price of 16 dollars, literally a gift beyond the crappy bugged UI.
Lack of hair is actually the progression and evolution of man into its superior form , making VR and helmet waring more comfortable

I swear you made me laugh out loud.
Game seems reasonable, if in need of updates and polish.
Does anyone know how well it runs on a controller? (yes, boo, I know, I had to sell my wheel)
yes, you have to buy a wheel :) but yes it runs on gamepad
@@mickeilkeil Have to buy a wheel is a strong claim lol, I managed to compete in top split GT3 on iRacing using a Dualshock controller for a while.

Air fryers are the best!
The thing that got me was the loading times. I've played nothing but ACC for years, and they have spoiled us because the load times are 5 to 10 seconds at most. Going from that to the old RF2 minute or more loading time was just intolerable. I couldn't take it. I really hope they figure out how to replicate the ACC loading times, or at least come close.
Think it is fixed, never takes more than 20-40 seconds for me. On SSD
Love my Air Fryer!
Rf2 fan here, i anticipated this would need some time to mature so didnt buy yet, i suspect a year of development and it should be a lot better, rf2 has its issues but its quite stable, so they should sort this out, i hope anyway, i was expecting this to be a much better version of what rf2 is now, hopefully that become a reality
i clicked the like button and noone can stop me!
I really really hope this game gets sorted... I only want to play it in VR, but I might still buy it whilst it’s £25 😂
I would love to see rf2 fixed 😂
I will wait till they finished fixes and updates.. I Don't have the patience with half completed games anymore. I've had enough of buying games that I shelve for months, because things don't work properly..
I know it should feel like RF2 but it just doesn't (simucube 2) - I've tried RF2 profiles, newer LMU profiles if just feels off somehow, it doesn't feel connected to the road like RF2 does, it actually reminds me of the slidey iracing or earlier AMS2 kind of grip loss. with added iracing first attempt braking lock ups...
with the AI they do the same RF2 thing of just braking miles later and slamming into your rear end, but still end up slower over the lap.
I genuinely believe it has potential, AMS2 needed two years to become what it is and that's a damn fun sim - I just won't hold my breathe that motorsport games / studio 397 will be anywhere near the caring developers that Reiza are.
also studio 397's concept of time is slightly off, 9 min race = 3 hours lmfao
Air fryers rule!
Nothing wrong with Ams2 physics btw 😅
Good God that guy in front of you is either shaking his rig to pieces with flat spots, or he's locked up his brakes so many times that the tires have gone back to being round again.

LMU is gorgeous
So all the negatives are all because of bugs due to early release?
They are due to being there , a game release can be called whatever it wants to be called , or released whenever it's released.
Negatives would still be the negatives and the positives would still be the positives.
Correct, and that’s why it’s cheap there is a discord to note all issues and they are being seen to so it’s the best way to polish a game with the vast amount of different pcs and different scenarios that the game code uses, people are jumping the fact that this is what acc done and this is the best thing Todo to get the game at its best, they are listening
