- After my long overdue return to sim racing earlier this week, you all had one piece of valuable advice for me… STAY AWAY FROM MONZA!
I survived that race, but only by the skin of my teeth. So imagine my reaction earlier today when I fired up Le Mans Ultimate to try another race in this new sim, and realised I’d have to survive another 20 minutes at this Italian death trap!
It’s a GTE Ferrari Fixed race, and I’m starting from P10. I’ve had mixed fortunes so far in LMU online multiplayer races, so I’ve got no idea how this one will turn out…

That Bruni is a beast, revenge like that usually gets a ban.
Yeah, hopefully the poor guy at the end will report it. He didn’t do anything wrong, wasn’t within 100 yards of him for the entire race. I’m just relieved he got past me quickly 🤣
The dirty windshield at the end of the race from all of the debris & dead bugs gave LMU a sense of authenticity I don't think I've seen in any other sim to the same effect 😏
Yeah, there are some very nice graphical touches in there. The windshield is definitely one of them. I also think the smoke and dust effects look great, and also debris - spoilers flying off in accidents, and those barriers going flying when Bruni took his T1 shortcut looked brilliant (unlike Bruni’s behaviour!)
Nice race Chris 👍 Good thing Bruni didn't have a vendetta against you because he could have taken you out at Ascari. Bruni's behavior would have got him banned if it was LFM. Enjoy your day brother.

I was going to say that people like Bruni, who's aggressiveness outweighs their skill, are most of the reason why Monza is as deadly as it is.
That was before the shunt they pulled. Absolutely disgraceful.
Yeah, it’s silly because he’s clearly got some pace. He was faster than me. But just no idea how to race closely with people. Even the incident where I gave him a bit of sympathy with the brake check… it’s very risky being that close to someone approaching a braking zone. Shame, as it was the only disappointing thing about an otherwise great race.
After the last race, you were brave to attempt Monza again. Honestly, though, Bruni was an idiot throughout. It's a shame as he seemed to have pace and pulled off a good move on you at the final turn. I do think that the early punt had a hint of deliberation about it. He seemed to accelerate into the guy he punted off at the chicane. In LFM, he'd have got himself an instaban. Good clean race by you, though. Well done.
Yeah I watched the replay back to see why Bruni was so intent on smashing that guy out. And there was nothing… they were never anywhere near each other. So it’s either mistaken identity, or he just chose a random victim. Either way, it’s very poor behaviour. Hopefully the guy will report him on the LMU Discord, I believe bans can get handed out there. Decent race aside, but I’ll quit Monza now, while I’m ahead!
@@chrisrogerssimracing Oh, that one was clear cut. I was actually thinking about one of his earlier incidents. The one not long after he overtook you. Maybe I'm misremembering but I'm sure I hear his engine revs increasing. There were two cars going two wide into the chicane but it looked like he was determined to get through no matter what.
How are you finding the game? It does look like the early stability issues are fixed?
@@daviddavies3637Oooh yes, that one. Yeah, that wasn’t great either. When cars are two-wide in front of you, it’s obvious you’re not going to get through! He was accelerating WAY too late, so it’s either deliberate or just a lack of any racecraft understanding. The way he continued through the chicane, cutting the corners suggests a mixture of both! The major bugs and glitches have been ironed out, but I’m still a bit concerned about the lack of punishment if you run onto the gravel. It doesn’t seem to slow you down at all, which can’t be right. Also, track cuts are very lenient. You can cut those chicanes completely 4-5 times before getting a drive-through penalty, so lots of drivers were gaining unfair advantages. So it’s getting better, but still a lot of work needed.
@@daviddavies3637Also, have you ventured onto the Nordschleife in ACC yet? I got the DLC yesterday, and managed to get my track licence. It was tough, and took a while! Two clean laps of Nords is a challenge, and I only just got it with 1sec to spare. Hoping to try a race at weekend.

People like Bruni have mental issues and should be banned from every game they touch. Even with the one guy braking way too early into the second chicane, there is zero reason to be inches away from someone going into a deep braking zone like that. He 100% intended to be close enough to punt the guy as soon as he hit the brakes, so he himself wouldn't take damage while launching the other guy into the barrier.
Yeah, you’re spot on actually. I mean, I get why he’s so close initially to get as much tow ads possible, but by that point he really should have been moving out to try the pass, or backing off. You’re right, too dangerous being that close, so close to the braking zone 👍

Yeah, it’s been a few weeks since I last played it, and it certainly runs a lot smoother now. Good to see a lot of those early bugs fixed. Still lots to be done, so I’m keeping 🤞🤞 the devs can continue improving it.

Cheers Luke, yeah not getting punted by him has been one of my best achievements 🤣 he was a menace. LMU has definitely improved since I last tried it, but still a lot of work to be done. Particularly with off tracks - going into the gravel doesn’t seem to slow you down. And track cuts are very lenient… you can cut those chicanes 4-5 times before getting a drive through, so a lot of people were using it unfairly. Bruni just tried it once too often 🤣

Exciting race for all kinds of reasons. How do you like Le Mans Ultimate?
It’s ok actually, pretty easy to drive so it’s fine for hopping in and doing a quick race. There’s not much depth to it, so I imagine it could get quite repetitive with the combos. A lot of the early bugs seem to have been ironed out, but there are still some worrying things… cars not losing any time when they run out onto the grass or sand, for example. I think it’ll be a sim I dip into for the occasional race, once every few weeks 👍
@@chrisrogerssimracing Ya, I was kind of surprised at the lack of momentum lost during some of those off-tracks. Frankly, I'm still confused sometimes how (in other sims) other drivers can carry so much more speed than I can. It's really frustrating. It makes me think my gas pedal doesn't go all the way down!
Bruni was a menace, good decision not fighting him for that position 😅
Yep, as soon as he tried that move up the inside into Ascari on lap one, I knew I’d be safer behind him. And so it proved!

Thank you mate. Yeah it’s a bit of a hack to get the replays in LMU at the moment! Check out @roy_33nl36 on CZcams, he did a couple of video guides on it a month or so ago. I follow the guide in his first video, but he did a more recent one about an easier way to do it (which I’ve not tried yet). Good luck!

Hopefully Bruni gets banned from LMU! Intentionally cutting a whole chicane just to punt another driver out of his race, that must lead to a ban, it must! And his other reckless driving wasn#t nice to watch either.
Yeah, on lap 1 I sensed he could be a danger, so I wasn’t too upset to see him go past me. But really poor after that… he’s clearly got decent pace, but just no idea how to use it fairly. I’m sure that poor backmarker who got rammed will report him… he was pretty angry in the race chat.

Nice race, shame Bruni was only there to try and ruin everyones fun. . I havent trried le mans yet, still need to buy it, its reasonably priced so i should take a punt, it looks like it drives well.
Yeah, it’s not bad at all. Worth a punt if you don’t raise your expectations too high. It’s limited in terms of content and what you can do in it, but for hopping into an easy online race, it’s perfectly fine. These GTEs are pretty easy to drive. Still needs a lot of work… cars don’t seem to lose time if they run onto the grass or gravel, and track cut warnings seem to get abused… you could cut these Monza chicanes several times before getting a penalty. It looked like several drivers were doing it.
@@chrisrogerssimracing appreciate the detailed reply, thank you, i think i will take a punt. . i'm just a filthy casual really, not top tier by any means , happy to just jump into odd races here and there , Yea i noticed you comment below on other posts that they dont slow down too well going off track, fingers crossed they sort that (but that will prob benefit me in the meantime) i'i don't understand why these people do that on the chicane at monza (i mean your just cheating yourself aint ya 😆) Surely the joy of sim racing is seeing your lap times and driving improve race on race and then eventually become competitive . Some people have it all wrong don't they hehe

Yeah, the alarm bells started to ring on lap one when he went for that move up the inside entering Ascari. As soon as I saw that, I knew I’d be better off behind him.

Are you able to report that guy? He needs to be banned. That was just beyond dangerous. Some people have high nm wheels and they can break a finger in a heartbeat!
I’m not sure. Generally, the rule is you have to be directly involved in the incident to report it. So hopefully that poor backmarker will have reported him!
That bruni guy needs to find another hobby than in multiplayer racing, it's not for him.
Definitely anger issues! I searched the replay for another reason why he’d do that, but couldn’t find it. Even if it was revenge for the brake check, he was risking that happening by being so close behind the guy in front approaching a hard braking zone. Think he needs to learn how to race alongside other cars.

Luck (or maybe bad luck) of the draw. I wanted to do an LMU race, fired it up to do whatever the next online race was, and it was this one!
