  • Volvo 264GLE 264 GLE PRV B28E B27 240 Brick 200 Series Rare Manual Overdrive 6cyl Peugeot Renault www.1ownercarguy.com This is a very sweet car and a rare car. This is a euro car and you just don't see many like this anymore. This is an 80 Volvo 264GLE with the big 2.7L PRV Engine and 5-Speed Manual transmission with overdrive. This was a very rare option in these. This car is a blast to drive. It has a lot of power and handles great. The PRV engine is a motor that Peugeot Renault and Volvo went in on a put in some of the higher model cars. This car is straight as can be. The silver paint looks great and has a very nice shine to it. The car looks like it was parked in a garage most of the time. This car is fully loaded for a Volvo and has all the options. The interior is very clean and shows very little wear. You just don't see these very often and when you do they are not usually this clean.

The problem with the 264 is the engine, it had major issues with the camshafts because the oil would not circulate to the top of the engine efficiently and the camshafts will fail. That is why you hear that knocking noise while he was driving, the same engine was fitted to the Renault 30 and the Peugeot 604.

Thanks for sharing this video! I'm living in Sweden. I'm working at Volvo Cars, and I worked on the assembly line when these cars were built. Seeing all the details on the car bringed back a lot of memories for me.

To find such a nice Volvo of 200 series in Sweden's much rare even though they were the most common car and most sold in Sweden. The Volvo 200 series was the most common car you met on Swedish roads under 70's, 80's, 90's, o well into the 2000s.

I had this same Volvo 264 GLE in silver handed down from my mom in high school except it was a "79, auto, tan leather, and stock wheels. it was very quick for my standards back in 1987 and it could do a U-turn like a tank! never left me stranded and I was in with the ladies....great find!

I had 3 different 264 GL's back in the day; a '76 and 2 '79's. Yes, the PRV V-6 has a bad rep, but I loved it. By today's standards it was gutless as hell, but in the early 80's it seemed quick, and with the 4 + OD manual it was like he said, a blast to drive, at least for a box on wheels. A part of me would love to have another one, but common sense takes precedence over reliving my early 20's. lol. It's great to see a few of these still survive.

i do like PRV engines they sound distinct. in the UK we never got the V6 volvo 264 or 265. just the 244 or 245 with 4cyl petrol engines and no diesel option either. i do like these and later 240's built like tanks and go on forever.

The engine sounds noisier than the 4 cyl redblock - the PRV V6 when running right was super silent and definitely could not be heard from inside the cabin. That engine needs the valve train looking at pronto!
