- This is a very nice 1 Owner 1983 Volvo 240DL Sedan. You will be hard pressed to find a cleaner one. I have enjoyed driving this car. It only has 123K Orig Miles and runs like a champ as you well know 123k Is NOTHING for a 240. These Volvos Are not My favorite car but it is hard to Ignore the fact that they are at the very least one of the Top 5 Cars EVER Built They are Tanks not Bricks..;-) My website always has lots of Unique and interesting cars. My grandmother bought one of these new in 1983 and drove it into her 90s. Sold it to a neighbor in 2008 and it was still running fine.
This along with Saab 900, brings a lot of good childhood memories :D
My dad recently just got his second 240 after the first one was rear ended, and I must say I have fallen in love with these cars. And personally I like the 4 U.S. lights over the Euro because you can easily upgrade those DOT sealed beams to H4 Euro spec or even go really exotic and upgrade to Projector headlights
I like it.. if old cars are not perfect in any way... because it shows their life before and that makes them so interesting... isn´t it?

You're so right about the 1-2 owner cars. I own a 1999 Toyota Solara, I'm the second owner after my dad, and I baby that thing, spend a lot to keep it running because I know the true value of the car, unlike someone who buys a car for $5000 and doesn't see it as much!
Supernice car! I'm surprised that they even sold the entry level trim in the US. My impression is that the 2,1 engine, crank windows etc are rare over there.
Volvo certainly pulled off the US lights. That front end is so much more exclusive than the European style. The 140/240 even had the crash bumpers on the European models right from 1974 so no need for the crazy bumpers like on Mercedes.
Hey Nathan! She's almost ready to be a show car now. After purchasing this car, I have done a crazy amount of work, and also had it professionally refurbished and upgraded. New ignition system, speakers, hat shelf, spare tire, jack, tail lights, muffler, right side mirror finally, odometer gears, instrument lights, A/C, timing belts, fan belt, seat knob, oxygen sensor, air mass meter, keyless entry, strut and firewall braces from IPD, and cut and buffed paint job. I'll post a video soon!
I love these cars. I at least wish that they'd design a modern car with this look in mind.

I own a '86 244 daily driver with B230F and M46 gear box with original engine and over 600,000 miles on original engine and geartrain.
the only mods I done to this car are installation of a Amsoil bypass oil filter and anitfreeze filter.
I regret that volvo has not a replacement for this car as new models are a very poor shade in terms of quality and life.
The only drawback of these Volvo is that there is no TDC on Lh 2.2 injection and Chrysler ignitions and finding a trouble is more an affair of intuition and experience than a direct diagnostic.

Nathan, I was wondering around the back of a Mercedes dealer earlier and there was a brown Volvo DL coupe just like this one with only 98,000 on the clock.. There was also a 350 SEC and and a 300SD W124 you'd be in heaven!
I'm you biggest fan! You should export all those cool American cars and European cars with US spec.! I own a 1992 740 Wagon, brought by this immigrant that used to live in NY... :)

That front you have there on the Volvo is a quite rare one. There is the regular one. And you have the American version which is unusual to see. VERY unusual, specially where I live.

Most powerful is the turbo version used in the 740 and 760 series between 1983-86.

There were 1,9 2,0 2,1 and 2,3. Both the 2,1 and the 2,3 came in a lot of different versions over the years. There were also two different turbo charged 2,1's. Over the years the engines either had carb, a mechanical injection or an electronic injection. The US turbo 2,1's had 162 horse, the most any of these had.
