  • This week I'm reviewing my Volkswagen Amarok which I've had for one year. In the review I take the car on road, urban and also off road in this extensive road test.
It's something a little different to my normal content and was immense fun to make. I hope you enjoy.
Please like, subscribe and give the video a thumbs up.

Its nice car and really confortable for journeys.
    I have 2.0, but that 3.0 is a beast
Just to note that it is not DSG transmission
    It has torque converter

Like you , mainly road use with a bit of off roading .
Just put the deposit on the 2.0 amarok.
Can't wait to get it , part exed my Audi Quattro for the amarok, way more comfortable ride in the amarok.

One of the best reviews I have watched. Thanks for taking the time to do it, it was very helpful for me and I'm sure many others 👍🏻

Thank you - it was my first attempt at a car review so not as fluid as my normal motorbike riding video's. I appreciate you taking the time to comment - thanks

Thanks buddy - an older video now but you'll be pleased to know, I've still got the van at almost three years on - and I still love it 😆

I also have a 2018 Amorok with the 3L V6 engine. Top spec model but it doesn't have the paddle change. I absolutely love the vehicle, it's great to drive but I have one big major gripe with it. Because I do quite a few short journeys I find that the DPF filter light comes on quite regularly. This is a total PITA! I had hoped that VW would release an ECU update to cure this , but they haven't.

Yeah, I can see how that would be annoying to say the least. I'm not packing large mileage trips and as the car is still fairly new, I guess I may get that in time.
As for the flappy-paddles, I think I've used them a few times for the novelty factor and thats about it - I use the switch from D to sports on a regular basis and find that works very well for me.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate that

Flappy paddle, used it in the Lambo, awesome

🤣 yeah great in a Lambo, a bit of a gimmick in an Amarok

Is that the VW canopy you have there? Would have been great if you could have shown that and tell us about it too.

No it's not the VW one. As far as I'm aware VW don't make one for the Amarok - this is the Truckman top-box. Its a great addition to the truck and IMHO makes the unit look a lot smarter and more balanced.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 👍

I keep thinking about a combi cab pickup. However then my head takes over and I realise I don’t regularly need the carrying capacity, but when I do need it I need it! I just can’t decide so I just stick with my 2012 Citroen DS5.

Great review, and some fantastic camera angles! I have to say that seems an odd place to mount a spare wheel on a vehicle with off-road capabilities, it would get covered in all sorts of poo located there, and you could be in a position where you wouldn't be able to extract it if you needed to. (full disclosure I have no idea how it's secured or how you remove it) However, my sister had a Picasso that was secured in a cage in a similar position and that was a right PITA on tarmac on dry 'A' roads.... she never rang me again.... she'd just ring the AA...... :-)

Yeah IRS a daft place for the spare but I guess it's there to save tub space.
Thanks for the comments and view

What is it like in the back for a longer journey?

To be fair it's not bad. We've done 10hrs straight going to the far NW Scotland and it was fine. Arguably its not a family saloon so you don't 'waft' along and if unloaded all of these vehicle types can be a bit skippy.
