I drive school bus. Parents are the worst part of my job. They say they care about their kids but yet display the worst behaviors in the presence of them.
Kids are reflection of parents
and the schools? what a failure
I agree 100percent
I'm a teacher and I agree interactions with the parents are so negative.
God bless you for driving kids to school!!

I don't see any gun-owners picketing these verdicts, or complaining about it, so it's nice that they see this couple was rightly convicted.
none of us know the whole story. only the jury does.
Responsible gun owners and parents are arguably more outraged than anyone over the crimes these parents committed. So definitely no picketing over here on either side. Justice was served in this case.
If you would like the whole story the miller hearings are available on you tube. That has a lot of information, very eye opening. @@ilovetech8341
@@Annieland Going back awhile the NRA made a lot of unwise press statements defending gun ownership right after a major shooting tragedy. It sounds like they've learned to either keep quiet or keep the focus on the perpetrator of the crime, not the tool he used.
I'm not a gun owner, although I grew up with guns, so I know both sides of the issue on an emotional level. But it's being a motorcyclist more than a former gun owner that helps me see that it's the hands the gun (or motorcycle, or airplane, or political office) is in that makes the crucial difference.
The prosecutor herself should be behind bars for failing to charge anyone at the school. Teacher notified principal and counselor at school about Crumbley's notebook full of violent, bloody drawings, the teacher saw him looking up ammo online while at school, and in his notebook were written cries for help because he didn't want to act of his disturbed impulses and was afraid of what he might do.... and the school did nothing. The teacher tried but the school principal and the school counselor did nothing. When the narcissistic parents were called by the school to take Ethan home that day and arrange counselling within 48 hours, they refused , and sent him back to class. The school had the authority and responsibility to remove him from school for IMMEDIATE psychological intervention. Instead, they just sent him back to class after FAILING to even check his backpack which the GUN happened to be in. This prosecutor was a new hire and didn't want to make enemies at school, so didn't charge ANYBODY at the school. Just picked the easier targets so as not to jeopardize her new job. . School was responsible for safety of other children that day who were killed. Crumbley himself shouldn't even be in jail but just the parents who continuously ignored his cries for help and cared more about the welfare of their horses than their own son. And also the principal of the school and the counselor who made the decision to send him back to class without even checking his backpack should be in jail right now. Ethan Crumbley is the real victim for having all his cries for help completely ignored, and the children he killed that day are also the real victims. And this prosecutor is as corrupt as they get.
I wonder how many other sets of parents should have been jailed for the actions of their children in previous cases....
Mr Crimo whos son killed a bunch of innocent people in Highland Park, IL was just convicted. So there has been cases of parents being prosecuted. TrumpTard
Plenty of them and now the bar is set. 😐
Involuntary manslaughter isn't new, btw. The mom of the 6-year-old boy accused of shooting his first grade teacher during class in Newport News, Virginia, in January was sentenced to 21 months in prison on federal charges.
There's really never been parents who were known to be as grossly negligent as these parents, whose kid killed 4 innocent kids and injured and terrorized others. He could not have done it without them. So this isn't something that happens, or will happen very often. They had to try to be so horrible.

I’m so so sorry!! I can only imagine the impact. I am from a small community and a retired teacher. What happened at your school should never have happened. I have been following this story from the beginning. I hope that everyone can heal from this tragedy.🙏

The worst of James trial was he showed no accountability or remorse or respect
He actually showed more concern than his wife. However they’re both pretty poor parents obviously
There are no winners here. My heart goes out to the families of the victims.
If stupidity and lack of common sense were considered a crime, these parents would have received a death sentence.

Hold schools accountable as well , get safety first, school safety insurance is our child is precious cargo , I’ve been to school board meetings many times many times , I’m a grandmother and I’m still fighting for seat belts be installed on buses
Thank you so much!! I pray the verdicts start to change parents and their behavior with their children. so many red flags. I fear every day for my children 's safety at school.
Yes now hold parents accountable for their kids being overly selfish, rude, lazy, creatures
I pray Karen isn't profiting off these interviews.
It's about time for parent accountability
Ikr!!
Thank you, Ms. McDonald. We need you on a national level!!
This is great news for violent and troubled inner cities! We can expect real accountability there now!
I was thinking the same thing! IT BETTER get applied evenly.
Unfortunately, I doubt that will happen in those communities..would be a good thing, but we all know why it won't happen in such communities.
Gun crime happens in rural America too! And stop using racist code.
I understand why the boy wasn’t sent home alone, but why wasn’t he escorted to detention by a school resource officer? The officer could have monitored him for the day. I know it isn’t what they usually do, but in a case like this, it would have been wise to be cautious. Schools might need to hire more security.
They should have gone through his back pack, as well!
because most schools are neglient and don't do anything to secure their property
@bzh7648
And of course you won't complain when school taxes are raised or that you should vote.
It was the JOB OF THE PARENTS to get their kid outside help and they WOULDN'T DO IT!! They knew their son was in bad shape mentally so they BOUGHT HIM A GUN. The school made the best decision they could based on the information they had. PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR CHILDREN. Both juries agreed.
Parents need to be held responsible !!!! I was bullied so much in school. Im very depressed and sad cause of it 😢😢😢
sounds like a very serious problem with the schools too

How bout the Oxford high school teachers, counselors? Does the buck stop with the parents? If you’re going to set a precedent for parents being held accountable the same needs to be done with the school staff, because they did NOTHING!!!
It's not the schools job to parent your kids, period!

Too bad for the parents, but they need to be sentenced harshly for their negligence to send a strong message to other parents.
We had an 8 year old shoot a teacher (not fatally) in Newport News Virginia and they tried the Mom and she was sentenced to 2 years.
Two years is NOTHING.
D.A. Karen McDonald has NOT wavered for one minute WHY she PROSECUTED this case.
I think the prosecution should be going after the school as they seen the drawings I think the school should have taken some responsibility. The shooter was sane to stand trial at the millar hearing now we get told he has mental problems
Karen McDonald and her team were incredible! So much respect for them! Justice has been served!
We may as well open a pre-crime unit so we can go to prison for what we might do. God help us all now that we have to pay for others’ crimes!
Ridiculous comment. Your gun bias is blinding.
For some reason i feel like both parents appeals will be successful.
@@jusDjango no I actually expected for them to be found guilty but the prosecution made some errors in the trials that I think may overturn their convictions. But I could be wrong I say it's a 50/50 chance.

This should have been the case all along. People who choose to bring a life into this world should just expect to be responsible for them until they become an adult.
This event is devastating! It breaks my heart to hear this as much as it happens, especially in my own state.
She’s such a badass, Kudos for having the guts to go after the parents.
just scapegoating a bad parent while totally allowing the schools off the hook. nothing is going to change in this country.
With all due respect to the victims and their families, this feels like a legally dangerous precedent. Charging and convicting people for the crimes of others.
That’s is a hard thing. I pray we become wiser with our children.

Enabling courts to take revenge on people related to a criminal is more dangerous than a school shooter. This is something you should be deeply concerned about.

This woman has been threatened by that psychopath dad. She needs protection. She is a brave public servant who will hopefully prevent harm to other children by making idiotic parents think twice.
Oh Prosecutor -- why haven't you asked the question before now? No chance of getting an elected position? There are plenty of minors sitting in jails and prisons whose families should be with them.
Hero. Parental accountability is necessary.
Thank You! Now they can't have any more kids. No telling what will happen to them in prison. A fate worse than death. They don't like people like this in prison.
Hooray for the victims families 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Awesome Work 👏👏👏
.I'm not really interested! Because, if your going to throw, the parents into something, THEY DID NOT, PHYSICALLY DO! THEN YOU THROW THE OTHERS! Like the school counselor! He should of checked the kids bag! None of this would of happened! If he would of been doing his Job! He knew that child was struggling! And he also knew, the parents, were failures! He should of reported that kid, to the state!
There was plenty of poor lawyering by the prosecutors, there is no reason to glorify them. The whole trial was a shitshow and she caused many appellate issues.
So glad theyre being held accountable for neglecting their psychotic son.
Karen hits another one out of the park. Such a genuine, caring person. Michigan, you're lucky to have her.
They have to go to jail 60 years 😡😡😡
No they won’t. The sentences will be concurrent, not consecutive so they’re only facing up to 15. The most they can serve before parole eligibility is 10 years.
SYMPATHY Not JUSTICE
With Liberty and Justice for SOME!!!!!!
While I agree with that sentiment in a general sense, I'm not sure what you mean by that in terms of this case.
Heartbreaking event and case 😢. These parents were clearly negligent and not smart, but they are refections of our country's glorification and obsession with guns. We need much more accountability to gun manufacturers and politicians but this is a good start. There are millions of homes with children and unsecured guns and every 17 hours there is a preventable shooting involving a minor.
Maybe holding parents accountable & Banning Assault weapons in the U.S. will stop this insanity & trauma for all our kids!
I understand the NECESSITY to have these discussions about gun safety AND responsibility, however I hope another message is sent here: That parents need to pay attention to their kids - even if they are teenagers. As a parent of three now-grown children, I understand that when kids reach into their teens, we WANT to give them more "freedom" and not hover over their every move. BUT, we also STILL have the responsibility to know what is going on in their lives and WATCH for "warning" signs. Not only watch for them, but make a plan of ACTION when/if we SEE those warning signs. Don't just laugh them off and pretend they are insignificant "signs" because dealing with them might interfere with OUR life - but to recognize that is a time we need to actually put the BRAKES on our (the parents') lives and take a deeper look at what might be going on. Is my teenager suddenly isolating more? Is my teenager posting/reposting "dark" memes on their social media? Is my teenager talking about death/listening to songs about death/drawing picture depicting death? Is my teenager TELLING me they are "sad/angry/depressed"? Is my teenagers grades dropping? Has my teenager lost interest in things that used to bring them joy? We CANNOT make the mistake that just because our teenager is 15, 16, 17 or even 18 years old, that they don't NEED us anymore (no matter what they might SAY, lol).
In a perfect world that might work but if your teenager does not open up and tell you their problems, what are you going to do? Force them to talk to you? We had a kid just like Ethan living in our house and none of our interaction with him worked including taking him to counseling. Kids have to want help to receive it. People seem to think it's so easy to fix a problem like this when that is the furthest thing from the truth.
She loves the camera
Max is 15 years - they wont get that. They will get 5 tops. They will both be out in 3 years or less and will write books (with ghost authors) and make lots of $$$ from interviews. _No bad deed goes unrewarded._
In Michigan, you serve 100% of your minimum sentence. There is no sentenced to 5 years, out in 3 years. If the court sets your minimum at 5, you serve all 5. Their upper range is 15 years, the parole board could hold them up until that point. I do agree however that they'll get a 5-15 year sentence on April 9.
I don't see them ever being able to make much money off books or interviews. Neither appears to be particularly likeable or engaging - particularly the mom. Even many people defending them don't think much of them as parents. Just would not be enough mass appeal to warrant any sort of book or interview deal.

I think that while the shooter's parents were /are probably criminally nelectful parents, it is a stretch to say their actions lead directly to the shooting or that they could have predicted the outcome... even good parents are often the last to know or acknowledge that their kids are monsters.
