  • Make all the functions work with your brushless upgrade, with this mysterious secret that not even Traxxas knows! For trx4 pro scale lights brake and reverse functions.

    Man, thanks so much for this! You, my friend, are a genius! I’m putting in a HobbyWing Fusion and was hoping to keep the reverse light function. I long ago upgraded my Sport to TQi.
    There is one BIG caveat though to relying on the TQi Maxx cable and removing the motor sensor cable: the receiver does not know what mode the ESC is in.
    The receiver assumes that the ESC is set to forward/brake/reverse operation (modes 1-4 on the XL5-HV, “Forward/Reverse with Brake” on a Fusion). In other words, when you first push reverse on your throttle it activates the BRAKE lights. When you push reverse a SECOND time it only then activates the REVERSE lights.
    If your ESC is in forward/reverse operation (mode 5 “Crawl Mode” on the XL5-HV, “Forward and Reverse” on a Fusion), the receiver doesn’t know this and still requires two pushes of the throttle in reverse to activate the reverse lights. Am I making sense?
    I usually use forward/reverse mode but I might switch to forward/brake/reverse mode to get more realistic lighting unless I am truly rock crawling. Fusion RPM throttle matching doesn’t work in forward/brake/reverse mode though.
    With an external BRUSHED ESC it is my understanding you can tap the motor sensor into the motor wires, but you can’t do that with a Fusion motor with INTERNAL ESC.

      Okay, figured out how to kind of get the reverse lights to work with the light module Motor Sensor wire unplugged and an ESC in forward/reverse mode. You need the Bluetooth module in your transmitter and the Traxxas Link app on your phone. In the lights dashboard, click Edit to get to the advanced settings. Scroll down to Reverse Lights and change the action from “Reverse” to “Brake”. Now your reverse lights will come on as soon as you push the throttle in the reverse direction.
      Seems a bit buggy though because they easily get out of sync with the actually throttle direction. If you drive forward and backward consistently it works okay. But if you drive backwards, stop, and then drive backwards again, weird things happen. The reverse lights might turn on when you start driving forward, though they seem to turn off after a few seconds. Still, better than nothing. Maybe it’s just a bug that can be fixed in a firmware update.

    When you want top put in a third stop light with the pro scale led kit hoe do you do it ? Thanks for the great video.’’

    Thanks you for sharing this I just installed a Hobbywing fusion on my Trx 4 defender. I ordered a pro scale led kit that I will install next week. I thought I could just plug it onto a spare channel on the receiver ? I should just solder it to the battery cable instead a per your instructions. Still new to the hobby. Cheers.

      Yeah. Rx voltage is not enough.

    Hey if you get the temp/voltage sensor to work with the app, you dont need the fancy install kit either, just run the voltage lead to the positive lead on the ESC

    Hey man, Thanks for uploading this! I'm considering buying a TRX4 Bronco 2021 and installing this light kit onto it, but I have a Hobbywing Fusion system and I wanted to know if I could keep the brake/backup lights and its awesome to know that I can. Thanks again!

      @Finlay RC, just wanted to check if you were able to get this setup working as I have the exact same combination ordered and I wanted to know this before I install. Thanks!

      @@laxm8162 Hey, I'm very sorry, I didn't end up getting this. However this guy explains it quite well and I don't see why it wouldn't work as long as you have the tqi receiver and Maxx cable you should be fine! 👍

    I just noticed on my sport with stock electronics and pro lighting; If I roll backwards down a hill (no throttle applied) the white reverse lights turn on.... Maybe thats the only thing this motor-sensor is for?
    nice video btw
    have a nice day

    This doesn’t seem to work for me, any input? Running Hobbywing Axe550 R2 FOC brushless system. Have left maxx cable only plugged in. I use stock trx4 transmitter (TQi) and have the Bluetooth module as well.

    Will you be able to use the app to control the lights, I just ordered the light kit so haven't installed it, and wanted to put in the fusion SE motor. Should all work? Thx

    The motor cables are so the turn signals only turn ON when stopped. They don’t control brake lights or reverse lights.

    Thats funny, i just put one in. The pigtail just needs to be battery voltage.

    I'm using this system on a custom 4tec build for a ford rs200. I'm confused by there being one front turn signal output. Makes no sense. Can you enlighten me otherwise I'm just going to tie them into the rear which looks to have 2 sets of pins.

    Is is there any way to do it without using the traxas receiver?

    • @yuding237
      @yuding237 Před 2 lety

      I do think so because if its not a traxxas receiver and trnasmitter, the pro scale lighting system cannot have the ability to detect the brake and turning sifnals from the transmitter

      Youd have to buy universal lighting systems that see all go in series with other channels. It will work if you use a brushed motor and the motor leads that go to the motor and split into the lighting module.

  • @rccvs4355
    @rccvs4355 Před 2 lety

    To bad I can't use my Flysky Noble4 radio with the Pro Scale Light kit, since the TQI needs a bluetooth module to control all the lights. I'm thinking of putting a fusion 1800kv in both my Defender and G500, but only if the brake and reverse light work like Finlay RC and Jerome said !!
