i think 11 month break up guy should just go to (real) therapy. I know it's easy to shame people for not processing things at the same time frame as ourselves, but every one has a different emotional tool kit, and that means different problems are gonna have varied effects. Therapy is a great way to upgrade your toolset so you can go handle the problems you're currently not equipped to face.
Took me like 3 years to *really* get over my ex, but I have other shit going on, it wasn't just me "mourning the relationship". I think 11 month guy might just be clinically depressed and thinking of the ex is just an intrusive thing that might have some other catalyst. Or maybe the ex is the catalyst for a rabbit hole of self hatred. Only they really know.
Anyways I'm good now and have been living with my current girlfriend for about a year and a half, which is the first time living with a partner. Things are great for me so I know that guy will be aight.
People should definitely go on Noel’s tour! I went to a show a couple months ago in SF and it was a hoot and a half. His ears are so big irl, even further back in the comedy club you could still see them. And he’s so traumatized and relatable it was cool to hear about :)

Personally, I'd need at least 10 years to know if I want to be with someone long term. Also, I don't believe in marriage, so that part would never happen. However, I discuss this early on and don't start relationships with people who want to get married. It's weird to me that people stay together for so long and never discuss it, but just assume that the other person will want it too.
I think part of it is maybe that they’ve been together for 8 years but it was from 18-26. People change and grow DRASTICALLY in those years, and men in particular are still not done figuring out who they are or what they want at 26. Odds are he’s probably confused about a lot of things. They may well not be right for each other but I think 8 years would mean a lot more as far as “marriage/forever is a given” if they had STARTED dating at 26.
My ex was 27/28 and I was 26/27 and we were in very different places, I had figured out who I was and worked on my flaws and issues and was thinking about a real future and he was not there yet and a lot of his frustration and fear and anger and dishonesty towards me probably stemmed from that. We were together a year and it was awful.
My current boyfriend is 37 and I’m 28. He told me he was going to marry me the week we met. He met my mum after a month, I met his family at 2 months. We started talking about moving in together the first month and he told me he loved me like 3 weeks in. We talk about having kids all the time.
If he doesn’t propose in the next 6 months I’ll be very surprised and possibly worried. It all depends on the age and the relationship.
@@FINETHENpod I think it's because people get desperate after a certain age and are rushing into settling with whomever. Telling you he'll marry you after 2 weeks, has nothing to do with you, he just wanted to know if he should waste time or not on you, since he's getting older and his time is running out. Also, I genuinely believe you can't really love someone after 3 weeks, without having lived and gone through some shit with that person, but hope it works out!

Immediate intense emotional connection, “I love you” 3 weeks in, everyone being convinced this was headed towards marriage, etc. After 3 months, this man turned completely on a dime and I am grateful every day that he showed his true colors 3 months in and not 3 years in. I know every person and relationship is different but please be sure to protect yourself! And like the commenter above, I too hope it ends well

@@realleon2328literally same here. I’ve experienced both immediate death and finally having my first breakup(s) and having to *actually* cut off friends. shit is terrible, and everyone processes differently. Turns out I got diagnosed with a grief disorder along other things too 💀

Nothing wrong with questioning whether or not you want to get married, but it really should be a genuine conversation that happens several times. It’s weird to me that people spontaneously propose without really talking it out. The idea of a difficult conversation is always much scarier than the outcome. Even if it results in you realizing you’re not on the same page about your future, it’s much better than lying to yourselves. Relationships require a ton of work and if you aren’t willing to put in the hard work, how are you gonna get married? If things don’t work out, know that no matter how long you’ve been together or how old you are, you’ll always end up being okay. Prolonging a breakup doesn’t actually prevent it from happening or make it easier. The pain just creeps in slowly and takes over your life when you try and postpone things.
I think people make marriage too big of a deal. I was with someone 9 years before one of us brought up the idea of marriage. We got married 2 months after that conversation. Nothing changed but our insurance and taxes. We’ve been married 6 years and have 3 kids. It’s not that deep. Why can’t people just be in a relationship, even if long term, and not be scared about it possibly ending? Or not get married? You don’t have to be married to have kids and buy a house. I was pregnant with my 3rd kid when I was at the courthouse. It’s funny how the concept of marriage can end a relationship.
@@mamamua4644 very fair point. I entirely see where you’re coming from and agree to a certain extent. I’ve just personally seen a lot of marriages end with the divorce leaving financial strains on people (especially women) and sometimes ostracizing them from parts of their communities. It really is a thing that can vary greatly from person to person. I’m poly so I probably won’t even get married lol

Idk, I do OF and sometimes I see names I recognize, and other times, people just go by their usernames. That happens more often. I've had people I know tell me they've been subscribed and I had no idea, then they tell me a username that's nothing like their actual names

honestly the only content i keep coming back to this channel for
i gotta chime in on the 11 months after a break up. bit was funny of course but I’ve genuinely experienced various forms of grief in the same year: my mom died, my dog died, one of my now ex-bffs SA’d my other bff, and my first love who i was friends with for 2 years before dating broke up with me. I was also a college student studying engineering and already had undiagnosed mental health issues. But besides those last two parts, i came to learn how there genuinely *is* grief in many types of losses. I was honestly upset that I was so torn and broken by the breakup, like my mom literally fucking died and yet I’m breaking down over a breakup? But it turns out that was a valid reaction (not by my choice though). My life was already changing so much, and losing him further changed my daily life. He also stopped being friends with my friends, and i deeply value friendship- so I was also slowly grieving the possibility of losing another best friend. Hope that provides some more perspective
