  • Hang out with me while I unbox one of my WISHLIST calathea--the Leopardina! I'll go through how I care for plants post shipping and deal with soil that is too saturated, which will include repotting the Leopardina. See the plant the day it arrives, five days post-shipping and then two weeks later. Thanks, again, Angel for your help finding this plant! 😊
Toward the end of the video, I also discuss my plans for the channel, concerns about consumption regarding plant collecting, and ask what you'd like to see next.

I love the fact that your channel is dedicated to calatheas! It's always so hard to find more in depth info that goes beyond the basic stuff that is available everywhere.
I would LOVE to see more troubleshooting videos - like when you notice something suspicious then how do you go about figuring out what's causing it. I would also love to see more videos about pest damage and how to recognize signs of different pests early (before a full blown infestation occurs). Just any tips and advice on how you handle different issues would be great! ❤

Hi from Greece, I have a leopardina too! It lives outside the whole year except 2 months, January and February when the cold is really tough here in northen Greece. I can safely say that this is a cold hardy plant down to 2celcious! Last year I took it in around the last december days when it was about to snow! There were just 3 leafs left but on last spring it was all along a new one and by the first days of March I placed it outside in a bright but shaded place again! And until May it was already blooming those tiny yellow flowers! It was so beautiful! So my suggestion is to not afraid to go wild with your calatheas and houseplants in general! I grow a monstera outside too alongside with a dracaena marginata and they are doing great these days when temperatures drops below 10c at night! 😁

I really struggle to understand how to prepare to winter, once my living room might get around 10 celsius. Im not sure how to deal with grow light and them, once they cannot be direct. What would be minimum temperature and light amount? Congrats for your great content! Just got my Leopardina today too :) Another topic I think is about the eventual correlation of leaf colour and the amount of light needed. AS STROMANTHE TRIOSTAR needs light to mantain variegation, dotties and crimsons need less light to be more red?

I found one of these at my local grocery store! I didn’t know what it was for a few weeks , just found out today!

Glad you managed to get your wishlist plants! I have had my leopardina for a few months now and if I were you I would investigate those tiny black spots on the leaves. I have them too and I believe they are a type of insect or fungal infection, I am treating them with soapy water

Oh, this is a little embarrassing--the black dotting on the leaves is potting soil. I have abstained from touching the plants too much as they're adjusting but this a very good reminder to wipe down the leaves!

I’m a beginner with houseplants . I’m learning so much from your channel. I only have 3 Calatheas but I have a Stromanrhe Triostar and another little stromanthe whose name I do not know. I also just bought a bedraggled looking plant from Lowes that just said prayer plant. I’m going back through all your videos but any new content discussing other plant species would be greatly appreciated. You have inspired me to continue collecting. Thanks so much!

I love seeing care videos and tips to know if you're doing right or not. EX: movement and what if your calathea is leaving its leaves down, what could that mean? Etc.

Wow, it is beautiful. I have some calathea plants, but never see calathea like this.
Hope I can get it someday. Thanks.

It is really pretty. It reminds of a makoyana a bit, with the intricate lines that run across the leaves,

I always enjoy your videos Addy! I want to get into calatheas soooo bad...BUT I have no clue where to start. I own a few (musaica, Beauty star, orbifolia, Misto, maranta, zebrina and rotundafolia) ALL damaged hahaha Funny but not funny. I would love to get as much research as I can. Where should I start with your videos? I want a giant orb but they get to a certain size and just start dying off. I NEED so much help. I do really love these plants but I want as much info that I can get. Are there any readings that talk about the care, how did you find your care tips or research about them?
    Great video my sweet friend!

Is Calathea Leopardina also called Calathea Concinna (Freddie)? They look similar to me.
