    Now this solves the sock dilemma: only need a tan, brown, grey, and navy socks. Done.

      That's comedic actor Matt Gourley doing his (getting notorious) Ian Fleming impression. The pronunciation is meant to being an effect of a stuffy British public schooling, and being rather properly soused by midday.

    Love the content. Can you do a video of James Bond's villains wearing the Chinese Tunic? I can recall at least three times where Bond and a couple of villains wore the Chinese tunic in Dr. No and other films. Christopher Waltz wore a black one in SPECTRE.

    Another informative video. When it comes to socks, as a tall guy, I prefer solid colors and not geometric shapes or patterns . My socks usually match the color of my trousers and underwear. Either everyone does this or I'm so OCD that I'm alone on this one....tell me what you think.

    • @JonShanny
      @JonShanny Před 6 lety +2

      I agree. Though I don't go as far as underwear matching, I always get close to my trouser color.

    • @eyeheartsushi2212
      @eyeheartsushi2212 Před 6 lety

      I like to match my trousers as much as possible. Sometimes the color is a bit off so I'll try to use a pair with patterns to take away from the fact of an imperfect match.

    Since most men today have absolutely no idea on how to dress, and certainly not elegantly, this tutorial on nuanced sock protocols is akin to attempting to explain how one might compose verse, but has not been taught to read yet.
    Men haven't dressed well, in general, for over fifty years. Bond is a character whose origins date back to when there still was a British Empire, ergo, he's an anachronism.
    Only a few very rare and rich people might actually bother, because they can afford to, or have a need to. That would certainly exclude government employees outside the Royal Family.

    Can you do a video on silk,sheer socks and why they're catching on,but not all of American men are aware of them

    • @cityhawk
      @cityhawk Před 5 lety +1

      Gregory Reed I thought I was the only one that wears them. Whether it’s black, gray, navy, or brown, I have at least a couple of sheer, silk pairs in each of those colors. I do like the look and feel them, plus they can dress up a look without having to wear more eccentric tones or patterns. It makes my wardrobe look more unique without having to try too hard. To make sure they stay up, I wear some sock garters to go with them. Since a lot of OTC sheer pairs are too big for me (size seven foot), the calf length pairs fit me perfectly, and the sock garters give it a bit of character. I know it isn’t a popular look, but it’s something I like to make my own.

    • @gregoryreed4866
      @gregoryreed4866 Před 5 lety

      Brian OSullivan omg bro, were like "sockmates" lol. I wish more American men had access to them. I agree 100% with everything you said. I wear sock garters too I have e wry color in the rainbow as well as the traditional dark colors. Everyone at work knows I am a sharp dresser so my ties generally match the socks. Yes-pink otc sheers and pink tie... my other vice is underwear because I match all three!! Lmao. Yes I am a guy that will wear pink underwear too lol. Here's the kicker- I wear very sexy underwear. No boxers. So my underwear always matches my socks in color and material as I only wear silk, nylon or sheer underwear in matching colors

      Gregory Reed I’d love to know where you can find sheer socks in other colors (pink, purple, light blue, red, or canary), especially in calf high pairs. It would help. I’d however have to think about matching underwear.

    NOTE: Unfortunately Rodger Moore's Bond is the MOST Out Date Style of ALL. Because of his 1970's "Bell-Bottom-Pants"; oversized ties and collars; and Jackets that fit more like "Leisure-Suits"; his style simply doesn't hold up well over time. Thus you couldn't wear his clothing today, and look stylish. I have tossed nearly all of my clothing from the 70's. I could be wrong, but I don't see that style coming back anytime soon? What say you folks?

    Love the series, but two things jumped out and slapped me, preventing me from enjoying the remainder of the presentation:
    1) The fabric is pronounced GABardine, not GARbadine. I've heard you mispronounce it in another of your videos. Being as these are about suits, you'll want to pronounce fabric names correctly.
    2) Whoever is performing the voiceover from the Bond books manages to insult 007 fans, Britons, Anglophiles, and actual voiceover actors all in one economical move. I suggest either finding someone who knows what he's doing (like not adding the 'H' to words like 'weight'), or discard the passage recitals altogether.
    Sorry to focus on the negative aspects of such a cool concept, but they truly kept me from enjoying your presentation.

      Hi Jamie, Yes my pronunciation is incorrect BUT I have fixed it for future videos and will no longer make the mistake (with cummerbund either)
      2. That is an actor who hosts a podcast I listen to and it's a VERY inside joke for fans of the podcast. Not intended to offend! Will be sure to fix these in the future so you can enjoy 😊

    If this is a protocol on dress I notice there is no reference to 'Flared' trousers which 007 Roger Moore wears and 007 SC wearing a brown suit with Black shoes (should be brown or Ox blood)/Fashionably tight ??? No gentleman dresses for fashion its not stylish or comfortable...the worst example of this is a toss up between RM and the current 007 ...how can you do 'Bond' things in a suit as tight as a sausage skin !!
