    Steel 48p is what I run on my Senton and it is beautiful. Personally don't think it's necessary to go mod.1 on a mega conversion. Just need metal gears and metal input shaft on the rear diff.

    • @jakejager

      @@travispratt6327 Steel 48p gears are smooth as butter on a hot a Texas day...using the higher pitch gears makes it much quieter as well. Go mod1 or 32p it'll be tougher and a lot noisier...and unnecessary on smaller scales, use lower pitch for larger vehicles since the torque can get nutty but on a 10th scale you're not likely to have any issues with 48p 😉

    Spectrum 4000 or 3300 kv motor with 85 amp esc combo and new pinion was $107 after taxes at the hobby shop and are great! You do mid 30’s on 2s which is what we prefer to run anyway, due to less possible damage and still speeds good enough for track racing and bashing using a 15t pinion on the Typhon Mega!

    • @Luke-tm5oy
      @Luke-tm5oy Před 5 měsíci

      I went with the 3300kv and the 85 amp spektrum still have stock mega gearing in it with good mesh and 2s its faster than the one in this video looks on 3s and doesn't tear itself apart. I'd say you're right, the fan bearing in my esc seems to be funky straight out the box tho. Could of been something in it gonna clean and run it some more and see how long the stock spur lasts. It looked like the mesh was a little loose from the factory. Any suggestions on what spur and pinion to swap to once I fry it?

    I added a post about this happening to me twice in your last typhon video. Horizon sent me a replacement now for my third attempt. My guess is that there is a little bend to the red aluminium shaft or the spring causes a small wobble. I would check mesh with gearbox screwed together then rotate gear. Mesh would be perfect in one spot, then a little play in a diff spot as I rotated the gear. Best to just get a 32 pitch gear and save alot of time.

      Hi I'm very new (just got my typhon mega a few days ago). Any specific spur gear you recommend, or, how would I be able to know what gear I could get and use? I see this for the typhon 3s but I assume it's a replacement 48p and is not the "32 pitch" gear like you talk about: www.arrma-rc.com/part/ARA310947

    Knotch under your spur gear and allow dirt and debris to leave out and won't torch em as much. I seen a yeti conversion for this I wanna try on my senton mega brushless conversion currently on 2s I feel it is way under powered went from 17t to 26t not much difference. Want to throw 3s on it and let her rip and see how the spur holds up if it toast it then gonna get the yeti conversion.

      How did this work for you, did you get the metal spur gear in? Did it in turn destroy the pinion gear? I could not agree more about notching the pan. My sons 'MEGA' is completely stock and clean, it toasted the spur gear after about 20 hrs. Looking at the base plate there is a spot where clear rubbing occurred between the spur and the pan, without any dirt. Design flaw.

      @@CCxRC Jason said we should now be able to just drop in the 32p spur gear with that version then. Mine is old version and way complicated if trying to use the stock spur. • @rcpd3157
      @rcpd3157 Před 3 lety

      In the video you mentioned cost and if you have the new version it would be more cost effective to reuse your spur with a 32p spur gear installed. Unlike mine, I had to get the 3s slipper clutch assembly and it basically took my cost up to 3s BLX truck. I had told you how I had done mine in the past, and I wanted to make sure you knew that using the stock slipper is now supposed to be way easier. Found that isn't the case though. I guess they will get the slipper right on the next one. IDK..anymore!..:)
