  • In this video AJ shows you how to dismantle and then rebuild both the Boost/Mega slipper clutches and the 3s version too. For some of us we have been doing this a very long time, but of others this is a new experience and we build these videos to help these new people get into this part of the hobby as easily as possible. Come along and see how we here at the studio deal with these machines.

    Thanks AJ for another great, informative RC video! It was really a pleasure getting to meet Mike and talking with you on his phone for a bit! I can't wait to meet you in person one day my friend! Keep doing what you do in our RC world, you're instructional videos are worth their weight in gold, and there are a lot of us out here that appreciate them more than you know!

    Very much appreciated. Fairly new to the hobby , about a year. Sour gear stripped on my 3 S Typhon. Accidentally broke the screw in the slipper. Got a HR gear that doesn't sit like the stock plastic one.

    How have these slipper clutches held up to 4s and 6s power? I want to drop the 6s system from my Infraction into my Vendetta but am worried about burning up the clutch frequently. Great video by the way. Simple and to the point.

    AJ, thanks for the lesson. I have been thinking about getting into the rc hobby and with my research, I have gotten to a point the the Arrma Vorteks Boost & the Vorteks 3S & Big Rock are where I am at. This video covered both which I think is great. Any advide or direction would be most appreciated.

    I picked up a Vortek boost. I'm doing a 3s brushless setup with the firma 100a with motor from a BLX Vorteks. I'm keeping it 2wd, so I'm wondering which slipper clutch you recommend that I use for that?

    • @AJJAMStudios
      @AJJAMStudios  Před rokem +3

      The factory 3s slipper should work fine. Tuned properly it should rock.

  • @gamercat7004

    My typhon 3s slipper clutch screw keeps backing off with the locking nut even changed to a new clutch kit hardware. And it's frustrating that I tighten it hard and drive it a bit it starts slipping, and I see it when I try to jump. The rc doesn't lift the front anymore, and I upgraded the spur gear in metal, and I spent on metal gears for the differentials. I'm dealing with a rc that I put in upgrades and doesn't run properly.

    is this really for the 3s? the slipper that come with the vorteks 3s boost upgrade kit is different, i believe its the same as the one that come with the kraton 4s. when i opened mine it had 4 pads not three.

    ? Out the topic, will the infraction v2 chassis fit on the fireteam parts like arms, difts, shock, towers, etc. Reason y i wanted to make it a 8s fireteam but dont want to stack two batteries on one side specially two 8000 4s packs. Its nice how the infraction has each battery on each side perfect for weight distribution tanks.

    • @AJJAMStudios
      @AJJAMStudios  Před rokem +1

      It would be odd looking, but I think it would ultimately work. The chassis braces might be an issue, but they too may fit. We've not tried that here. Best of luck. AJ

    I am so confused. I have a mega, and I just recently tore up my drive gear. I took it all apart and I just don't get it. My drive gear is splined as is the metal part. When you slide them over the same splined shaft, they can't spin independently of each other. It looks like the drive gear in this clip is also splined, yet when he was putting the nut on, he was spinning the shaft inside the drive gear. What am I missing here? My drive gear does not spin on the red aluminum shaft. I realize my drive gear is toast, but it still doesn't make sense.

    Hi AJ, since i'm new into hobby i have been watching a lot of your videos. The problem i'm having now is that i wanted to upgrade the clutch because the plastic one in vorteks boost 4x2 died. I ordered the metal slipper clutch (ara210006) but now the pinion gear on the brushed motor does not match. Haven't found any answers online yet so i thougt let's just ask AJ. What do i need to do? Change the original 15 pinion gear? Thanks a lot! Greetings from the Netherlands!

    • @AJJAMStudios
      @AJJAMStudios  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, a pinion change is in order. The boost has finer gearing than the 3s lineup. A pinion swap will correct the issue. Thanks for asking. 😎👍

      @@AJJAMStudios Thanks for your quick reply! Which size pinion gear do you recommend?

    • @jelcop
      @jelcop Před 2 měsíci

      I now know a pinion number is not the size so that was a silly question. Would a 17t fit or 18t fit and what would that mean for the brushed motor? Any other recommendations for an upgrade on the boost other then the 4x4 kit? Thanks again!

    Just bought our first two Arma rc's. Typhon 3s and Vorteks 3s. I'm new to rc cars and holy crap is this going to cost me. 2 weeks in and I've wrecked the Typhon bad head on full speed into a curb. It completely jambed the clutch assembly. I even separated one of the bearings on the clutch drive. It will drive under power but stops dead when you let off the throttle. Wheels are completely locked up until I removed the power unit from the car. Any ideas what to look for or where to start? Ty

    • @JT-6s
      @JT-6s Před rokem +1

      If I were in your situation, I’d take advantage of the fact you have another 3s power module and do a quick swap into the Typhon. That way I’d isolate the problem as being exclusively in the power module and not a binding elsewhere in the drivetrain. If your Vorteks motor and clutch assembly work in the Typhon without any issue, then I’d be looking over the Typhon’s aluminum motor mount plate as those have a tendency to bend, which will cause binding in your pinion/spur gear mesh. I’d also look at those clutch bearings, and replace if needed. And since I was there, I’d also check that the motor bearing on the pinion side is still good. If you feel even the slightest movement when you rock the pinion, it’s on its way out.

      @@JT-6s Thanks for the ideas. I didn't swap the power units. Looked into it a little closer. I found that I've bent the aluminum motor mount which was binding the gears. Upon closer inspection I can see where the clutch was even digging into the housing. Parts are on order now.
