I have one, and love it. Thew most fun car I’ve driven. 408 Hp there is not a question who’s owns the road. You just just jump the car into the slot in the outer line when you need to take over.

My mate has one, it's done 900 miles, and a truck turned up this morning to take it away. Brake problem, and the sceen brightness can't be dimmed.

Can you carry a portable charger to quick charge if necessary? Driving at night make any difference to mileage?
It's colder at night, so it should decrease range, but it of course depends on temperatures, if the road is wet, wind etc. Ideal operating temperature for a car battery is around 26.7 degrees Celsius or 80 degrees Fahrenheit, anything lower will gradually decrease range.
In addition to the cold, you are also using the heads lights and taillights, which could also have an impact (even if it’s a slight one) on the range as well. As for the portable charger, I’m not sure. Maybe an owner would be able to give you the answer to that
The xc40 comes with charging cables that will allow you to plug into a standard 120v (normal plug) or 240v (in the US, it's basically a dryer plug) outlet. Quick charge requires a whole DC charging infrastructure that you can't just hook up to a normal outlet. There are "portable" (think heavy carry on suitcase) backup battery things you can get but they're really just for a few emergency miles.
Hi from England. I Really enjoyed your review. I’m just looking at getting a new EV and at the moment it’s between this Volvo (same spec) and the updated Tesla model 3 long range. Hmmmm.
Where Tesla really outshines any other ev is their charging infrastructure.. That would be a big selling point for me
