    The Volvo XC40 came out for the 2018 model year and was their entry into the compact luxury SUV market. Later for 202 they electrified it in hopes it would help lead the charge to converting the rest of their lineup to electric by 2030.
    Once thing I appreciate, is that Volvo realizes not everyone shares the same vision of an electrified future where we all drive around in the same jellybean shaped living room and have kept a more tradition utilitarian SUV shape. They have however, still sprinkled in the modern by now using more environmentally friendly materials on the inside where the changes are easier to adopt.
    Once thing remains the same. Whether gas or electric, the XC40 is a safe, practical and luxurious little vehicle that is a bargain if your are fortunate enough to be in that market.
    Come take a look!
    *Please note that I am human and could be wrong on some of my “facts”, but still they give a good idea if considering the vehicle in your shopping.

      No. Good question. This was a dealer contribution and I only had around 3hrs with it. Plus I only had my iPhone. Thanks for the kind words 😊

    Great video. Just to tell you google works better if you give better commands. Opening of trunk works 99% if you have the key on you. For radio or music you can also use button in right side of the steering wheel. It is fun to hear that you say it is a small car. How much space are needed?

      HA! I realize about the Google lol. I think I’m ruined with testing all these giant vehicles, but you are correct. The XC40 10-15years ago would be considered bigger. I drive a little BRZ sports car and my family car it a Golf so I don’t need a tone a space myself:) Was extremely impressed with it!!

    I think the 360 camera only comes with the top trim which actually has a great kick sensor! You just need to do it at the right spot which is just to the left of the license plate and kick straight - don't need to sweep the leg Johnny Lawrence style.

    • @bhmth
      @bhmth Před rokem

      And you gotta say "hey Google" to get the car to respond. Just saying "Google" or just asking questions won't do anything. Sorry I'm kinda live commenting 😂 enjoying this review though!

      Loved the review. I have one of these and it's loads of fun. I think you nailed the conclusion; it's not the best at anything but it's very good at everything (ok a little more range would be nice but the 24s will provide that with their new batteries and motors). Clever storage like doors that fit laptops and a false floor in the back that lifts up to reveal little bag hooks make this a great daily driver for non roadtrippers. Oh and that little thing in the console that you didn't know the use of? It's a trash can!

      @@bhmth interesting!! And more good to knows! I can really see myself in a Volvo one day. I’m really impressed. They remind me of my beloved VW GTI lol, in that they feel like luxurious tanks but I think I’m leaning towards Swedish lately;)

    At least on my 2020 XC90 and 2013 XC60, there are kick sensors. I think it's a default standard feature 🤷‍♂ BUT, I can never get it to work. I think that I read somewhere that the "sweet spot" is under the first "V". I waste time trying to find it, so by default, I just use the keyfob or manual trunk button. 😂 Great review, though!

      Ha! I like it lol. How I feel about my fingerprint sensor on my laptop! I spent more time fumbling around trying to unlock it with my finger and getting frustrated when it would have been way quicker to just type in my password 🙃 Technology lol. Thanks for commenting:)

    The the new Volvo EX30 appears to be more innovative than the XC40, think they are going to sell so many of those.

      The XC40 has been in North America since 2019. The Recharge and Polestar 2 are both EV's based off of the XC40. So it is not ground up EV from Volvo until XC30.

    You failed the google assistant is actually you failing.
    As with your phone you need to say hey google to activate. Talk your command then it executes...
    Just giving orders is just talking to yourself, and it was painful to watch, as no other assistant ever work without you activating it.
    There is a buttom on the right on the sterring wheel for those just talk moments...
    Maybe you should have read the 800 page manual, atleast on the system before going about failing it...
    Bet your Iphone dont do stuff without you activating it before giving it commands.
    BUT as an owner of an XC40 Recharge is the assistant a nice feature but very restrictive.
    It could have been better, but good enough

      I’m not dumb lol. The test was supposed to be engaging and funny which many did and you and others commented. That said it didn’t go as planned but because I have 3hrs with the vehicle, and have to go to multiple locations and set everything up myself I have one take. That was it. You are right, it work’s about as well as a phone and is handy. And if you listen close I did say hey Google a couple times. They are not perfect but much better in the last couple of years. It is a great little vehicle and I’m sure you must be happy with it 😊

    • @cofal79
      @cofal79 Před 11 měsíci +2

      @Neutralreviews well it responded every time you said Hey Google, but not when you said show me directions and all the other commands.
      If you don't know where your going, it will say so... but you HAVE to add Hey Google every time to make the system respond to you...
      This was something one learned after a hour with the car...
      And is one of the selling points to Volvo.
      Here I will not blame the reviewer but the dealership of not informing.
      Else it was a good review.
      The 2 gen XC40/C40 recharge is getting good reviews lately.
      And I'm happy with my gen 1, especially now as Tesla opened up their charging net.

      @kevinn1158 Před 11 měsíci

      @@Neutralreviews the Model Y has a very harsh ride. And the steering is very very sensitive. I wasn't overly impressed but the sales numbers are overwhelmingly in favour of the Tesla. I thought the EV6 AWD had a very nice drive but they are very very rare here. Deliveries are non existent.
      I wish Volvo and Polestar would start competing on price. The new Polestar 4 is very sharp. And Volvo needs an EX60 yesterday.

      I’m sorry! I thought I heard someone say starting in 2025, Volvo electric vehicles in Canada and the United States will also be equipped with the North American Charging Standard port, allowing the EVs to plug into the Supercharger network in both countries… Don’t know if that helps:) Thanks for commenting!
