We own a 2022. We also own a Tesla Mod3LR. When given the choice, I chose the Volvo. I also prefer it for road trips. Very quiet, comfortable, & roomy. The acceleration is also stupid fast.

I absolutely love this car, definitely at the very top of my list. There's something so classy, elegant and smooth about it. Hopefully one day i'll grab myself one, if it's not too late.

It's so annoying how whenever you see a review of any car you always see the top spec and trim that most people won't buy. I want to see what the 2023 P6 is like since it's gone from fwd to rwd and has more power. I am awaiting delivery of one.

I love this car. Thank you for this review. Really useful for me. One thing this is missing for me is a head-up display. I have it in my 2020 Ford Kuga PHEV and I like it very much.

I found this a good, well-balanced review, presented in an engaging, low-key way. I would like to make a couple of points directed to readers who are unfamiliar with "one-pedal driving".
It's not a lot different than those bumper cars at fairs where the fun comes from crashing into other cars. If you release the accelerator pedal (the only pedal) the car will quickly slow and come to a stop. The accelerator pedal in EVs is not used that way. Rather, one modulates the pedal to speed up and slow down, even when coming to a full stop. In the Volvo EVs it's easy to smoothly bring the car to a full stop without touching the brake, even when going downhill. It takes little time--less than a day for some--to get the hang of it and commit the behaviour to muscle-memory.
If one turns off one-pedal driving the car will coast when the accelerator pedal is released. However, regenerative braking is still employed to slow the car when the brake pedal is depressed, just as it is when letting up on the accelerator in one-pedal driving mode. The only exception (regardless of whether one-pedal drive mode is on or off) is when the brake pedal is applied quickly with significant force. In those situations both regenerative braking and friction braking are applied. Volvo calls that "blended braking".
On my C40 I leave one-pedal driving on all the time and generally use adaptive cruise control on highways.
Now that I'm warmed up, let me make two more points. Firstly, while the view through the rear-view mirror is quite poor on the C40 (though one can see the closest car behind), the views of blind spots (and rear-seat passenger views) are much better on the C40 than on the XC40 Recharge. Secondly, while the C40 glass roof neither opens nor has a retractable shade, it is a huge, single pane of glass, a delight for rear-seat passengers, and is heavily tinted, which in most climates obviates the need for a shade. Whether one wants a sunroof that can be opened is a personal preference.

I suspect that Volvo will replace the smaller display with the larger Polestar 2 display in future models. Any word on 2024 model changes?
