I feel like the best use for flangers on bass is to play Tool-like riffs with a pick or put it after a fuzz for crazy end of song type sounds. A lot of the delicate finger funk playing in this demo kinda just makes it sound like an average chorus pedal

I could listen to that ending riff for hours

My fave effect on Bass. Found that in a Band setting it worked the best for me.

Sweet! Seems like it's "time" for a flange pedal. Like it!

Awesome demo. 😎🤘🏻🎸I’ve had this pedal a few years ago and it’s a pretty cool sounding flanger. I currently own a Tce vortex flanger on my main pedalboard. I am thinking purchasing the thunderstorm flanger once more for my backup pedalboard. Plus the pedal sounds awesome with the schecter stiletto bass. I own one and it’s one of my most treasured bass guitars.

Update: I’ve recently purchased the tce thunderstorm flanger for my backup pedalboard and it sounds phenomenal. It’s a real keeper

I bought mine a good while ago just because I couldn't justify paying the price of BF-3 only to use it occasionally - I was positively surprised by Thunderstorm, it simply does the job done

      @esposoman Před 2 lety +2

I understand your point. Buying a brand new Boss BF3 for use it occasionally is an unjustified expense. I tried other options but in my head I had the Boss BF3 tone. Finally I found an used one for 70 bucks or so. When I used for first time in the rehearsal finally I had the tone I had in mind.
The Boss BF3 and my Sansamp are my favorite pedals among my growing collection.

sounds great! I like the sound better for bass than for guitar, so now I have to rip it from my guitar peddal board.😁

This is ironic, cos earlier on I was looking for this pedal on bass 10 minutes before this came out

I'm currious which pickups are in the ESP near the beginning.

This answer is probably too detailed but here it goes:
Tom Araya’s signature pickup set consists of the EMG 35DC and 35J. LTD’s website says the newer TA-604 is equipped with two 35DC soapbars. This is the older TA-500. It differs from the newer TA-604 in that the 500 has passive pickups and an active preamp. The older passive EMGs used to be labeled as EMG HZ. They’re still HZs now, it just doesn’t say it on the pickup anymore. This bass has EMG 35HZ soapbars and what I’m guessing is the EMG B30EQ System. However, I could be wrong about the preamp.

@@TheBassChannel Thanks for the response. Exactly the level of detail I like. I personally have a 2017 F-155DX that I got used and replaced the passive ESP soaps with a pair of 40DCX and the BQS system. I love the tone of mine, but the tone on that TA was so good I needed to know if it was just the ESP soaps with a good mix or if it had EMGs in it.

Flanger!!! My favourite bass modulation pedal!😁
With "some" distortion added, instant heaven... No, HELL!!!😎🤟🏻
Sooooo, do this properly and stack it with dirt pedal and play metal!😤

This one came from my personal pedalboard before I got a Helix, and it was my only modulation pedal for a little while. I didn't have any issues with lowend loss. I'd put it at or near the top of my flanger list, with the M117, FL9, and the ADA.

To me, this doesn't sound like a flanger, because when I think of a flanger, I think of the song "Ain't Talkin Bout Love" from Van Halen and this don't sound like that. I love this pedal, I purchased it. Great price.
