That creaking sound is comb filtering, I think. It does give things character, you can hear it all over early Cure albums, especially Faith, one of my favorites
Started collecting Flangers because of Robert Smith. Such a cool sound.
Just picked up one of these from Sweetwater. It's a BIG pedal, but it sounds really cool. I'm going to have fun with it. I especially appreciate the top-mount jacks.
Bought it! Supreme! Great demo: only the sound! And so great flanger pedal, very well crafted, solid, all metal, and can be controlled with your foot ;)
I'll buy one!!
Dangg sounds awesome
i love this
Negative feedback means that the output signal gets back in but with reversed phase.
Sounds like a decent flanger.
1:32 sounds great
03:33 sounds the best IMO
GFYS
Try turning all the knobs down for a pitch shift effect like a doubler
Hello Everyone! I have a question about this using of pedal; should I use in parallel effect loop (w delay) or shouldn't? (I know the main rule, that if the pedal has Mix pot. I can use it in, or it hasn't, not sure. Thank You for Your advices!
Do whatever you want. Personally I play mine after my dirt but before all my delays. I believe that’s how The Cure uses them.
I'm getting one. There's no volume drop or boost with it I hope?
i mentioned none
Flanger is an effect I pretty much loathed all my life. Till I got an Ibanez FL99. But even with it I prefer it subtle. They either get way too wild or way too bright. This sounds a bit on the bright sight, but I imagine it could be a great texturizer at more subtle levels.
Would you say it's better than a BF-2?
I was wondering that too
coldwar1977 if its any help swaying your opinion,
I was trading pedals with somebody I met online today.
I was supposed to be trading something for the BF-2, but the one he tried to trade me didn't turn on when I tried to test it with a battery and input plugs.
long story short, the guy paid me cash for the pedal I was trading, and I a got one brand new of these instead of walking away with a BF-2.
I'm rather happy with the results, and I have money left over.
unless you plan on getting super tasteless with your use of flanger, this pedal does the job well.
If you're looking for a very pronounced "WEEEEEEEYOOOUUUUUWAAASSSSHHHH" sounds, get the BF-3 with its extra settings for when you wanna sound like a bad Tom Morello
cool, thanx Nick!
I personally think the BF-2 isn't even that great compared to many other flangers on the market now, this Tc Thunderstorm sounds better in the demo, Mooer E-Lady would be another good option not too expensive.
I had the first or possibly second series Purple Boss Flanger in the early 90s, I left it laying around in a basement where a guitar player in my punk band A Rowdy Bunch Indeed at the time decided to pawn it. The range of that pedal sounded really dynamic. A few months ago I tried the new JHS 3 series Flanger and it didn't have much range. After owning the the Boss Flanger pedal more than 27 years ago, buying the recent JHS 3 series Flanger left me wanting a Flanger. TC Thunderstorm has more range by comparison. You might have to turn the effect down which Id say is a good thing. I would buy the latest BF-3 Boss Flanger but Boss pedals look ugly when they're mixed in with modern pedals on a modern pedalboard. When Boss came out they introduced the silent foot switch button which is why their pedal cases look the way they do to this day. The Flange circuit inside the TC Thunderstorm is more than acceptable, you can play 'A Forest' by The Cure on it. At the price and offering 4 frequency sensitive control features it's a good buy. Also, their enclosures are built like sturdy tanks
What is the tasteless way to use a flanger?
GoPens crank everything to the 4:00 position and play divebombs and powerchords
Use it.
That creacking sound was taken from designer's eye, when he woke up after late work, over the blueprints.
I'm thinking of getting an ibanez airplane flanger but I don't want to be attacked by flanger snobs
is there such a thing as a flanger snob?
Same here - I've been desperately wanting to get a flanger for ages, but until it becomes politically correct to own a flanger, I'm just gonna play it safe.
sound like skyblue reverb
hey
I always thought that a flanger without the LFO sweep, metallic sound, and feedback attenuation would be a cool effect.
Joshua Fraser so a comb filter?
Only if it has a little wax paper wrapped around it.
The Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress can do exactly that. There's a switch that turns off the LFO.
If you turn off the depth that's actually what the manual control does.
I’m pretty sure Alex Lifeson does that in the Red Barchetta solo.
