    I bought one of these as a kind of replacement of my Real-Tube pedal I had years ago. That pedal was like a thick, rich, Marshall-ey kind of sound. The Tube Pilot was nothing like that at all. In fact listening to your video has reminded me of that. It's a very top-end focussed, somewhat harsh 'scratchy' sound? At least I thought so. And on my individual pedal, the decay on notes and chords wasn't linear, it had a strange stepping down in volume. I couldn't get on with it. I sold it in the end. Not saying it's a bad pedal or anything, just it wasn't my kind of thing. Had quite a 'cold' sound to it. Just my three pen'orths that's all.

      I found that it was totally unruly with my Blackstar amp - Marshall-esque circuit. It seems to react better with my current rig which is an amp based around a Dumble circuit. I’m gonna keep it for the time being and continue experimenting 👍🙌🏻

    Nice playing mate! Demonstrated the sounds really well. Certainly a unique pedal but could be the sound some people are looking for!

      Thanks! It certainly is a beast - a little unruly at times, but absolutely worth the time to learn where the sweet spots are! 🙌🏻

    The fuzzy and filthy quality tells me a lot of bass frequencies are being pushed through the clipping portion of the circuit. Leaving your guitar on the neck pickup the entire time accentuates that. I'd have found it helpful if you'd used the bridge pickup some. That way I could tell if this thing can get a 'cleaner' distortion or not.

      Thanks for the feedback - I’ll bear that it mind for the next vid. There is part of the demo track on the bridge pickup from 1:13 if you hadn’t seen that bit 👍

    Thanks for the video, I found your comments insightful, I think you've convinced me of purchasing one 🙂 My amp is the Orange Crush 35w, a solid-state amp with good medium to high gain tones, but I think this pedal might give that "edge-of- breakup" tone I've been searching for - I'll probably open it up to lower the bias setting though. I was wondering: with tube amps, I heard it's a good idea to power them on for a few minutes before playing, so the tubes have time to warm up; do you think it's the same principle with this pedal?

      Hi. Glad you found it useful! It doesn’t seem to need time to warm up - it’s not running at ‘plate voltage’, so the tube is just being used in the circuit to add colour to the tone. Hope that helps with your decision! 🙌🏻👍

      It is a beast! I must say, I’m tempted by the Zeus myself - but I already have a ‘Klon’ pedal that I made from a DIY kit - I’ll do a video for it next week to demo how it sounds 👍🙌🏻

    that really is a great drive pedal.

    The pedal is 400mA and my power supply is 500 that"s why it is generaly waiting in the stand, but I'll give it other try with a separate transformer.

    • @ashleyguitarandpedals
      @ashleyguitarandpedals  Před 7 měsíci

      Do you mean that your current power supply is being used to power multiple pedals? If not, a 500mA power supply is perfect for it because it only draws 400mA 👍

      @@ashleyguitarandpedals yes, I use 4 to 5 pedals

      That’s a shame - it is bonkers how much current draw it has! Let me know how you get on when you get it sorted! 👍

    If only I had a dollar for every one of these demo videos that don't say what kind of amp and settings are being used with the pedal.

      I’ll try to remember to mention the amp and settings in future videos 👍

    Might be the guitar pickup setting, but the net total tone sounds hella thin.

    • @ashleyguitarandpedals
      @ashleyguitarandpedals  Před 7 měsíci +1

      It’s definitely not a ‘thick’ overdrive sound - it has a rasp to it that is really cutting. That’s a great quality in a live band. I originally bought it with the intention of having it as a substitute for buying something more expensive to give me a ‘Vox’ overdrive tone - not sure it really does that, but I’ve gotta say - I really enjoy it! 🙌🏻🔥
