What about a tuna?
Tuner. Yes I don't like English accent too. This Leeds area English is some kind of German and London mix imo LOL... Anyway, I prefer standard American accent personally.
rahzark Here: đ
I'm only a few miles away from Leeds, so I am a little biased in preferring English accents. However I like the nicely spoken, well enunciated accents without the dropped letters or slang.
Nobody cares what accents you like dude
You can tuna piano but you can't tuna fish. Unless that fish is a bass.
The Freeze has a mode switch; I think âlatchâ means you can take your foot off and it still sustains :-) Great Pedals
You can also dial in some Jaco style chorus with the Flashback. Turn the style to Mod, time close to 0secs and the mix all the way up. It give a nice smooth chorus and doesn't suck out the bottom end.
Is the flashback made specifically for Bass?
No itâs a guitar delay pedal
Awesome sounds Scott. Thanks for sharing.
cannot believe how good that Octaver sounded with the Darkglass! so synthy! but better than any synth. so articulate and musical sounding. i was looking at an electro harmonix micro synth, and a darkglass combo... but damn- that sounded great. (of course, that was an 11,000 bass, not my no-name p-bass so...)
Nice applications! I've been doing Moyo passive volume (amazingly simple and handmade in US) -> Boss OC-5 octaver (more options than OC-3) -> Darkglass Alpha Omega distortion -> MXR purple envelope filter (in case you need to Bootsy) -> MXR bass compressor -> MXR booster -> BeatBuddy -> RC-300 looper. Never heard of POG or Freeze so tyvm.
was definitely expecting a dyna comp but ay I love these for new ideas.
I really like the sound the vibe function on the Korg Nuvibe makes. Its a huge pedal with a also huge expression pedal. I had some problems with it because you need a hefty power supply for it which I didn't have at the time and the expression pedal needed some fixing and you can't just use any expression pedal. But now it works it is fantastic.
Great video...and I watch all of yours.
Scott! Got my strap last week. Great craftsman work and feels great. Thanks :)
love how he says "thank you, gavin" at 1:48 and then gavin says thank you back (merci / merci beacoup) lol "de rien" means you're welcome but cool video! I've played bass for only 3 years and feel comfortable to start trying out pedals now! very informative
Thanks for another great video, Scott. What pedal would you recommend if I just want to add a bit of growl to my bass? I'm not interested in anything too metal sounding, just a bit of overdrive, I guess. Thinking about the Boss Bass Driver, any opinions? Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions you, or your viewers can offer.
Wow this is SUCH a cool video. I love listening to you play
I regret so much selling my MicroPOG. That + fuzz + chorus = monstrous Moog sound
You forgot the most important pedal that is always on is a good compressor.
audioguru67 I imagine he runs through something more sophisticated than, say a dyna comp.
i'd say that if you can play, you don't need one..
I'd rather not. I fucking suck at playing the bass but I'll never learn how to play with a consistent touch if I'm using a compressor as a crutch
i would say for recording yes, for gigs, home practice, or band practice no. gotta develop that feel during practice and shows. but the recording engineer will appreciate a properly set compressor (they should already have one for you) especially if you're a sloppier player. and yes, if you're an experienced and practiced player, probably don't NEED one.
Its not necessarily an effects pedal
Wicked. Never heard of the âfreeze â before.
The drone part was very beautiful.
Good video Scott. I'm really liking the source audio aftershock pedal. Would recommend!
Awesome pedals and inspiration. Scott is without question, the best bass guitarist master teacher I have come to know. Love those pedals. Super cool signature bass and amp. Love to win it all. Here's hoping.
Very nice... haven't played in a few years. Got a studio 5 coming in and got my studio ready to go. Looking forward to it.
Awesome vid ! Great playing
Those Fedora basses are expensive & ugly as sin. Sound great but I don't get the price. Thx Scott.
@Wray Gamma & His Gamma Rays good thing they're actually called Fodera
Yea theyâre ugly
Because it's the tone man
I was thinking that same thing- sure they sound great but jesus thats ugly for 11k
Fender is the best bass and guitar brand , they last long, great sound, bang for the buck
Back in the day, I used to plug straight in. The amps are made differently these days. Compression was often built into the amp and/or the bass guitar. I'm looking for a compressor now.
Behringer makes one for around 25$,..it may not be a Darkglass but at that price...đđ€đđ¶
@@joycesanders4898 Behringer STEALS every single design they sell. They actually design nothing and build for slave wages in China.
If there's one company that should be universally banned or blackballed in the music community, it should be them. But cheapness wins for people with no awareness, no morals, or no cash.
Keeley bassist is a great compressor
nice video! have the alpha omicron too ... and the luminal hyprid compressor pedal from darkglass. creating my bass sound also with chorus and delay effects.
Sad to see that I missed this, love your channel.
The POG tracks so well. Omg!
8:34 that run melts my mind
Distortion on bass would make perfect for making an 80s 16-bit arcade game soundtrack haha. This as an awesome video indeed friend!
I love bitcrushers for that effect.
Bah! thanks for your video clarified a lot for me, congratulations!
I do like a good compressor. Love the Walrus Audio Deep Six and the DarkGlass Hyper Luminar.
Hi -- great videos. Thanks. Question: Where do you get t hose tight fitting gloves?
Ooh I like the use of the sustainer to provide your own accompaniment. Very clever.
Just got the dUg Pinnick pedal from Tech 21...it's just awesome...tuner and compressor built in...
Scott, man.... u are playing like a beast! soooo jazzy.
I picked up the 3 pedals in the middle. but I got the Flashback x4. Puts my versatility on another level
Finnaly i can see what you realy can do good jobâșđđđđ
Dang it Scott - awesome demo!!!!!
Not sure about the bass styling... but I've a feeling I could live with it!
Nice one, can you do a rundown of bass synth pedals? Cheers
I picked up a Source Audio Soundblox Pro Multiwave Bass distortion a few months ago; it basically combines the functions of several of these pedals. While I would love to be able to tweak individual settings, the simplicity of the thing makes it so useful. Plus... Hot Hand!
Great great pedal.
i've found the Celestial Audio Aries Beast distortion pedal is awesome on bass. except it was made for guitar, so no blend control. but it does have two gain stages, volume, and low, mid, treble knobs. (Hmmm... wonder how hard it would be to mod it with a blend control?)
Too addicted to buying basses to afford pedals, but I love all these sounds!
Go the Alpha Omicron recently. By far the best distortion pedal I've used!
Great bro.... regards from Bolivia Santa Cruz.
These pedals are so nice!
hello there! thanks for the video, very illustrative, I got a cuestione, some folks recommend me buy a preamp as my first pedal, my opinion is a compressor as first pedal. I haven't a fedora! đ€Ł what it the best option for a ibenez gio 5 stings?
The Freeze and Ovtave function can ne combined in the POGs nix brother the HOG. It also comes with a filter section which kicks makes your sound Go funky as bootsy
Hey Scott, it would be very useful if you could give us a few examples in combination with Rock-Songs. I guess nearly all of us playing in a band so its no use for us to buy any gear for soloing especially when we have no idea where to use it within songs.
Exactly - he barely played any low notes, may as well be showing off lead guitar pedals.
Number 1 for me is compression, then chorus, then reverb
Prayin for that fodera đ€đŒ
Love the octave pedal. I'd go with my Crybaby too :)
Youâre crazy good Scotty!đ€đŒ
Nice to see, that you use EBS octabass, in lots of pedal reviews people use oc-2 or mxr, recently found one guy use 3leafaudio.
I had mxr but EBS is so fat, really fat.) it was really strange for me that no one use it. So now I just relaxed.)) thank you, man.)
Some awesome stuff.
Hi Scott. Wondering what you think of compression. Don't need it because your articulation is giving you what you want? Also, what about digital versus analog effects. What do you think? Thanks.
I play through an old Boss multi-effects pedalboard called an ME-X and it has a pitch shift section so you aren't limited to just an octave. A 4th or 5th down can be a whole lot of fun, especially if you are not really holding down the low end all the time, aka playing along with a synth bass etc. Of course, I'm dying at the lack of addition of a chorus but what do I know, I'm a post-punk bassist who uses multiple pedals and a pick, lol.
I just came across a ME-80 and Iâm trying to figure out how to use it for bass
I would love to have and play with that bass :)
Nice one !!
I can actually pass on the Fodera if I can get all the pedals for sure. That pedal combination is gold.
This inspires me to work more with my H.O.G.2, I feel like I can dial in a lot of those sounds. It works slightly differently but still has options. Great vid.
I have zero pedals, except a tuner pedal which i use for guitar too. Would like to win this haha.
I know thi s is an old video, but I hope you see this... I have a question... I use a compression pedal, and was thinking about getting a pre-amp pedal as well... would that be redundant? if not, then where would the preamp go??? before or after the compression?... thank you Scott
Sir advices me what the common effect pedal use ..
Man I'd love the trickfish
Wow
Amazing
that bass sounds so good that I am even starting to appreciate the look of it. but maybe it's just the way you play it.
whaleback Loveđđ¶
Scott, as some others have said, where is the compressor? Playing live, to me a compressor is a must. I have the Boss BC 1X and find it a superb digital no- noise piece of kit. . .
I love your videos soooo much, I watched almost every single one, can i pleaaase get a guitar pick that got your name or something???
Not one for all the techno pedals, but like Tech 21 Sans Amp DI box to round out my tone and has the advantage of an XLR balanced output to send to a mixing board. With a phantom powered mixing board there's no need for the "wall wart" or battery power supplies.
What about a compressor to keep your dynamics in check? I mean you can do a good job of that with your fingers but still
With this set up, if you switch the Flashback delay to the 'MOD' setting and turn the delay down/off - viola! you have a great sounding Chorus...
Donât think heâs playing a Viola.
Or you mean âVoilaâ. Or your comment was affected by auto-correct....
Love my freeze peddle
I'm here for that Fodera.
Is that still on the table?
Hi Scott ive been playing bass for a year and am thinking about getting a new amp i play metal mostly and use my mothers Yamaha trb 1004 what bass amps are good for stuff like Metallica and megadeth
What about a Wah or a Flanger? Also do you ever use guitar pedals?
I needed something with some fuzz that didn't lower my bass levels/get me lost in the mix, both with light fuzz and heavy fuzz. I picked up the Don't Shred on Me from Abominable Electronics and it's one of the best I've ever used. It's a more dial-inable version of The Rat. I use it for any and all styles. Rock, blues, heavy metal... damn, its a monster. It's a guitar pedal I believe, but I can't make a guitar sound good using it to save my life.
Have you tried ehx bass big muff? It has a knob to let your dry signal go through together woth the fuzz tone/ wet signal. Or if not, anything with EQ, or maybe just a preamp, that should save you from getting lost in the mix. Fuzz sounds best with high trebles also but for the bass to come UP the mix, the mids should be upped as well.
Nice drone practice recommendation. I have a Gamechanger Audio PLUS pedal with Wet switch. Iâm still delving into it with my NS Design CR6-string Radius fretless electric bass guitar and electric cello after 2 years.đ
Enjoy David!!
I wish that I picked up a basic guitar a long time ago but I just picked it up three months ago ! I am blind and I am picking this up like I was born for this ! Wouldâve loved to been able to interior contest with any of this
Yo The Blind Fury himself. Saw a video of early you spitting HARD yesterday. Slap that thang and freestyle over it!! Yes you can. Get on it.
One of the troubles i've found with a distortion/overdrive is it...sorta removes the "WHOMP' factor, if you will. It flattens out response somehow, so that the bass doesn't 'punch' like it should; especially with distortion-heavy guitarists in the band and lots of crash-work from the drummer. Just my experience.
Bass distortions tend to be designed to help retain punch with bass boosts or letting you blend in an unaffected sound with the distortion
The EHX/Sovtek Big Muff is a good one too..
I just need to get my hands on another bass and a better amp rig...and get that Big Muff fixed. Itâs pretty poorly built but I love the tone...especially on bass.
How about MXR M80?? A bass player i used to jam with always used it and sounded amazing
Awesome as always. The rest of you guys can forget it I've already won ,the fix is in! No Russian collusion....
I really like using a chorus on my bass and I have a TC Electronics clean boost when I need the base to jump out on a certain lick or a solo. Also I have a simple boss Overdrive for the grind when needed. MXR Envelope Filter also.
I want that freeze!!!
Compressor, Chorus, and Reverb/Delay
I have a Electro-Harmonix BAss Soul Food and a Bass Big Muff. What would you suggest for a Compressor? I need to even out the sound.
What about a noise gate at the back end.
I prefer the sound of the Bass Octave Deluxe by MXR over just about any other octave pedal.
Tried the EBS octave?
I have a ZOOM MS-60B firmware v2 multstomp with more than 140 effects.
I wish Scott would give us an evaluation of that pedal by saying the pros and cons. I've seen several reviews but Scott is necessary. It is possible?
Hey Scott, I know itâs not really your style of bass playing but please could you use some bass pedals and play some royal blood!!!!! They have some awesome riffs that are a lot of fun to play
It would be nice to have the Fodera, or the amp, or the pedals, but what I really want is one of them straps!
Getting in early, I wanna win so bad man đ
I do open mic's and never know what amp I will be plugging into so I always bring my SansAmp Bass Driver DI.
I use sansamp too
I've never been that into effects pedals (when playing in 2 pro bands in my youth) on the bass guitar except for the one which was my Boss Graphic Equaliser to boost certain sounds at certain times, but I always thought of how cool it would be to take my guitarists pedals & play them...
I did this once & had a ball with the Wah Wah & Distortion (aka Fuzz) pedals along with the digital delay & the compression pedal..
It was one of those nights in the rehearsal studio & we had our set locked down tight & it was a case of go home early/play the Arcade Machines which the studio had or mess about with each other's instruments & what an interesting & hilarious night we had...
Now i just play for myself & for the fun of it & once I've paid off my beautiful Pedulla Buzz Fretless Bass Guitar & take delivery of it I'm going to invest in quite a few pedals...
I always had that innovative side to me but when your playing in a band that's signed up & their looking for hit singles, well that comes first & though I'd experiment in the studio I'd never overstep by bounds & push my overall bass parts above everyone else as we were all there to serve the music & not our egos...
I'm looking forward to buying the pedals I've already mentioned & having a look at what else is out there as it was different 25 plus year's ago as you only had a certain amount of brands being sold in the UK but now there's plenty to choose from were as before it was predominately Boss along with a few other unknown brands...
If I could give you any advice on effects pedals on the bass guitar it would be try anything & everything as you may stumble onto a new way of getting your bass lines across & last but my no means least " Have Fun " with it, or what's the point...
.....
0:28 Hoy! Holding the $11K giveaway with one hand! And no glove!
Fim de Abril my thougts
i thought the same thing. then i was like, "but who's gonna complain about a free 11,000 USD instrument with a chip in it?" and what kind of undeserving schmuck would they be?
Good reverb like ebs dynaverb and this 5 đ
Hello. Please please tell us where you get those wonderful stretchy gloves. I want some. Thank You.
Hey Scott, could I ask what kind or where you get your gloves? I have a relative that needs those thin gloves. Thanks! Anyways, thanks always for the vids!
I've just discovered this video and i ask myself : whh is he wearing a glove?
Fuzz, wah, chorus, and (do I even have to say it?) a tuner.
(Note that I play an Ashdown Amp, so I'm also a frequent user of the built-in "Sub-harmonic generator")
These pedals are great.
I guess I'm late for the giveaway?
