Great job. I’m stoked to give it a shot. Really appreciate that you took the time to be as thorough and specific. Also really cool that you took the opportunity to point out possible mistakes that people could have made with the pinched wire, orientation of rubber mat and the warning about the removal of the rear portion of the console (preventing folks from jerking all the harnesses out while attempting to remove it). Overall fantastic video. Looking forward to seeing more.

Great video- I second the other comments about not needing to take off the back console with the adapter. Also, I needed a T20 and a T10 driver. You’ll only need the T20 if you only remove the arm rest. Thanks for the great easy to follow video!

This is the best video on CZcams for this issue. I've looked at so many I can't even remember how many I looked at. Just easy to follow and understand in all aspects. The combo part number in the description is correct, I bought one today. The cost was over $100 though, not sure how he got it for $65. On the new one you don't need to remove the rear of the console. The new harness is only about 6". I routed the cable as he did, under the module then up and around the slot for the bottom molding clip. Also make sure to route the old part of the harness in the grove of the hinge. So, the new harness eliminates the second step of removing the rear of the center console.
I removed it before I realized that GM was trying to make replacement easier. So hopefully anyone else doing this upgrade will realize how GM is helping you out, reads my post or maybe this video gets updated to mention the upgraded harness.
Below is a link showing the routing of the harness. Make sure to route the original cable in the grove of the hinge. Also a picture showing the holes where the rear console clips into (to help you visually understand why he said to pull back and up).

Thanks for the video. I just did this in my 2017 Tahoe using the new combo pack part (gm part 19432813).
Quick note - if you’re using that part, it comes with a harness that plugs directly into the existing wiring. You do NOT need to remove the rear panel on the center console, only the piece underneath the arm rest.

I self-installed in my 2016 Yukon Denali for those who are wondering if this will work in their vehicle. The only thing that changed is screws are now T-20 Torx size in mine and the Gen 2 module includes a wiring harness to plug and play into current wiring with no need to remove rear panel shown in video.

Basically the link doesn't work above for Apple but if you go to the way back machine you can find it. It says, "The implementations of wireless charging in 2017 and earlier models from Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC do not meet the requirements for Qi certification. These models do not work with iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus." I didn't know that, I just thought it broke - I even asked the service center at the dealer and they didn't know. :O
So good to know basically it's a standards issue. This video is very informative and I like the research and the fact you posted an update that you can get the newer harness and module for about $80. I'll be calling my dealer tomorrow to see if I can get it... they are pretty reasonable with prices so hopefully I can just by it from them. Thank you again!

The modification to the pad is not required, it simply helps align the device with the new wireless module. If you are looking for something that does not require an upgrade at all, I would suggest a phone holder with built in wireless that can plug into your 12DC. I use one of these on my vent every time I am in the car and my phone is always full.

Good Video. “Thank You!” I have this problem in my 2016 CT6 Cadilllac. Will this module fit my car?

Thanks! - I'm not sure on the CT6... I googled it and it looks to be the same type of module but I'm not familiar with the process on that car. Good luck!

thanks for the info, I ordered the part as listed and installed it as shown. However pad still does not work, anyone else experience this ? any suggestions?

I believe everyone in the comments who has had trouble generally has gone through the process of checking fuses and re-checking the install and found that it always works. If your phone is too large to sit flush in the pad then of course it may not activate. - Please reply if you figure out what was wrong!

Great video!! I have a 15 ESV Platinum, I also have the iPhone X Max, is there a charging pad larger enough to fit my Max? Is there a combo package that includes the module and pad? What site to safely purchase it?

I like GMPartsGiant.com ... as for the larger pad I've not seen anything other than the size in the video. Good luck!

Thanks! My dad just bought a 2017 Yukon Denali and the center console wireless charger doesn’t work.

I'm guessing it depends on when the truck was built for the cutoff to the newer charger, I hope the video helps!

Same issue in my 2017 GMC 2500... only question is on the harness all I need is the 2018 harness to complete this or is this a special harness adapter... thanks again

You'll need the updated module and harness, GM part numbers are in the description.

I added this charger to a 2019 GMC Yukon (MAY WORK FOR EARLIER MODELS TOO) that didnt come with wireless charging. Once you remove the trim my armrest underneath is just like the vehicles with the charger added. You can screw the charger right into position. There is no harness in the vehicle so you have to cut off the plug that's on the chargers harness and tap into a switched 24volt source. Infotainment.com has the specific harness for that or you can just splice it in yourself using the purple and black wires from the charger. The other two wires are for the vehicles already equipped so just cap those off. I think they just send info to the head unit display so it can show when it is charging. Mine works with just those two wires attached. You also need to order the oem wireless charging pad. Otherwise just use the pad that's there. It will work. Just doesnt complete the oem look.

I just bought a 2019 Yukon that also didn't come with wireless charging. I am looking to buy a new arm rest assembly (~$330) and swap mine out. I will likely have the same wiring constraints as you. I would like to go as OEM as possible. My vehicle has the Premier package, so I am hoping the harness is back there. When I get a chance, I may pull the back panel of the console off to check. Otherwise, do you have some pictures how you did your wiring? I believe the OEM setup sends a signal to the infotainment system to show when a phone is charging on the screen. Not mandatory, but again, I’d like to stay as OEM as possible. Thanks, Greg
